I Said It Was a Catfish Photo ABO Chapter 40.2

Part 2

Yu Shi spun and delivered a kick to his chest. Zheng Xiao retreated several steps, taking the opportunity to grab Yu Shi’s calf, wanting to drag his entire body over. Yu Shi lunged forward without hesitation, tripping him with a grappling move.

His moves were exceptionally ruthless, precise, and fast—completely different from his previous fights. His only thought was to break through.

“Nice moves,” Qin Yin applauded.

Zheng Xiao was an S-grade Alpha, yet he was still suppressed to the point where he couldn’t straighten his body. His internal organs felt as if they were being ground to pieces. The other Alphas collapsed one after another, blood trickling from the corners of their mouths.

Yu Shi seized the opportunity to bolt out the door, his figure vanishing into the hallway instantly.

“Mr. Qin.” Zheng Xiao looked back.

Qin Yin wasn’t surprised at all. He ordered, “Seal off the floor. Use the new weapon to test him.”

Zheng Xiao pulled out a button and pressed it. Within five seconds, a series of transparent laser nets rose across the stairs leading from the second floor to the first, as well as the surrounding windows.

Yu Shi ran all the way toward the stairs, dealing with several Alphas along the way. The second floor was covered with silent carpets, making it eerily quiet.

He didn’t have time to think. He kicked several bodyguards down the stairs; those men flipped over the railing, their heads hitting the steps as they lost consciousness. He remained cautious and didn’t head straight downstairs. Instead, he walked to the restroom at the end of the hallway, smashed open a window, and prepared to jump down.

It was pitch black outside. A green belt lay below.

Yu Shi reached out to grab the windowsill. The moment he stepped up, he hit the laser net.

He fell straight back from the window, hitting his head on the porcelain tiles and losing consciousness.

About half a minute later, he woke up in a daze. Above him was the ceiling with flickering spots, and his ears buzzed. He could hear his own heavy heartbeat. His entire body felt as painful as if pierced by countless needles. He was like a fish out of water, desperately gasping for air.

It took quite a while for the numbness in his limbs to gradually subside. It felt as if his entire body had been shocked by electricity.

He propped himself up and crawled up slowly, shaking his head hard as he looked toward the empty window.

Against the dark background, there was a net as transparent as silk.

Ten years ago, a description of this new weapon had appeared in a military report from the Seventh Zone. The designers had named it “Skynet.”

The predecessor of “Skynet” was a laser alarm. The article claimed that specific pheromones were integrated into it, making it produce an electric shock effect only against specific groups of people to prevent them from escaping.

It appeared that Oro had never given up on pheromone weapons.

Footsteps came from the door. Yu Shi gritted his teeth, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes.

With a loud crash, the bodyguards outside burst in. However, the restroom was empty; there was no sign of Yu Shi. They immediately searched every stall and notified others over the walkie-talkie that the person was missing.

The moon was dark and the wind high. Fireworks in the distance lit up the night sky.

Yu Shi stepped carefully over the red tiles, making a slight sound. He had climbed up through the ventilation duct. Fortunately, there was no “Skynet” above him; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to escape.

Bodyguards walked back and forth beneath his feet. The banquet hall was brightly lit, and the main gates had been sealed.

He crouched in the shadows, calculating the time each bodyguard stayed in place, trying to find an opportunity to break through.

Once he calmed down, he recalled Qin Yin’s words—if the Seventh Zone was about to go to war, but Tiangui had received no word, it meant… the legions in the Seventh Zone would be in danger.

Xie Ren was in the Seventh Zone.

His heart sank violently.

Just then, a cold voice sounded from behind him: “Don’t move.”

Yu Shi’s body froze. He turned around slowly. Zheng Xiao was pointing a gun at him—this time, it wasn’t an anesthetic gun.

He instinctively glanced to the side. The patrol team had just passed.

Zheng Xiao said in a low voice, “If you dare jump, I’ll fire immediately.”

Yu Shi looked around. Zheng Xiao was alone; he hadn’t brought bodyguards up. Yu Shi obediently raised his hands and took a step toward him.

“I…”

Unexpectedly, Zheng Xiao took a step back as if seeing a ghost: “I said, don’t move!”

“I wanted to say I surrender.” Yu Shi’s expression was helpless. “I’ve been forced here by you—what other choice could I have?”

The wind on the roof whipped his jet-black hair against his face. His eyes were very bright, like a pool of tender, sweet hot springs, with colorful fireworks bursting within them. He was breathtakingly beautiful.

As the saying goes, fox-like eyes are best at bewitching the heart.

Zheng Xiao tightened his grip on the gun and threw a pair of handcuffs over, saying curtly, “Stop the nonsense. Cuff yourself.”

The handcuffs landed at Yu Shi’s feet. He didn’t bend down to pick them up, but instead said, “Zheng Xiao, how many years have we known each other?”

Zheng Xiao didn’t speak. Yu Shi continued to himself, “I first met Qin Yin when I was seven. You should have been present then, too. Seventeen years have passed in a flash.”

“I know that everything you do is out of loyalty to your mission. Because you want to thank him for saving your sister, you aren’t a bad person by nature. If you are willing to let me leave, I’ll act as if I’ve never been here. Just like before, you can continue your operations, and I won’t interfere or say a word. You know that my hatred for Tiangui is no less than yours. I won’t tell anyone.”

Zheng Xiao raised the muzzle and said coldly, “Keep dreaming. You think I’ll believe you?”

“Don’t try to flatter me. I’m indeed not a good person. Have you ever seen a killer with a conscience?” he sneered.

Yu Shi didn’t speak, but suddenly stepped forward and grabbed the barrel of the gun.

Zheng Xiao was startled, nearly misfiring into his head. He demanded angrily, “What are you doing?”

“Since you aren’t a good person, then be quick about it and give me a shot.” Yu Shi met his gaze coldly. “I have many things left unfinished; I cannot fall into your hands. If Qin Yin insists on taking me away, it’s better to just kill me now.”

He appeared sharp and cold on the outside, but there was a hard-to-detect sorrow in his eyes.

The two were very close. It was hard for Zheng Xiao not to see that trace of sorrow, and a flash of hesitation crossed his face.

The fireworks stopped. The light in Yu Shi’s eyes gradually went out.

He said with a trembling voice, “You are in charge of pheromone transactions, but you surely don’t know what it feels like to be forcibly extracted… I know. I was locked in a dark place for a whole year, surrounded by medical staff. Needles pierced my skin again and again, reaching the glands and stirring inside. That kind of pain is no less than having your bones broken over and over… Many times I wanted to just die, because as long as I lived, I would be constantly pushed onto the operating table…”

“But later I felt I couldn’t die. Some truths… need to come to the surface. I’m the only one who can investigate. If I die, they will die with me.”

“Zheng Xiao, I know you aren’t a killing machine. You are a person of flesh and blood. You are different from those killers.”

His hand was shaking, causing the gun barrel to tremble slightly. Zheng Xiao’s palm broke into a sweat.

Yu Shi stared at him fervently, his eyes misting over. However, if one looked closely, they would find that beneath that burning gaze was extreme calmness and clarity—he didn’t look like someone controlled by emotion at all.

the night was too dark and the wind too strong; Zheng Xiao couldn’t see what was hidden deep within.

the gun barrel gradually slid downward.

Yu Shi narrowed his eyes, about to snatch the gun, when a sharp pain suddenly came from his neck. A cold needle pierced his skin, and an overwhelming weariness surged up.

In just a few seconds, he collapsed.

A ghostly figure from behind caught him steadily. A female Alpha’s voice said mockingly, “I warned you not to waste words with him. You still believe his lies so easily, Brother.”

Zheng Xiao’s brow furrowed tightly. He didn’t make a sound, watching as she cuffed Yu Shi.
