Chapter 60: Ge… Something is Not Right With Me
Jiang Qing had just finished messaging Qin Zhiyan, asking him to thoroughly investigate Xu Xunchen, when he heard a knock at the door.
He didn’t look up. “Come in.”
The door was pushed open just a crack, and Jiang Linmu poked half his head inside.
“Ge…”
Jiang Qing put down his phone and looked up. Jiang Linmu was wearing loungewear, his hair was still a bit messy, and his complexion looked better than it had this morning.
“Come in. What are you lurking at the door for?” Jiang Qing pointed to the armchair opposite him.
Only then did Jiang Linmu shuffle inside slowly. He closed the door but didn’t sit down immediately. Instead, he stood there, unconsciously twisting the hem of his shirt, looking like he wanted to say something but didn’t know how.
Jiang Qing didn’t rush him. He just watched him quietly, waiting for him to speak.
After a few seconds of silence, as if he had finally summoned enough courage, Jiang Linmu suddenly looked up and blurted out at high speed:
“Ge! About last night… I’m sorry!”
His face turned beet-red as he continued in one breath: “It was all my fault! I shouldn’t have drunk random things, I shouldn’t have been so careless, and… and I caused you such a big headache! I made it so you couldn’t rest, and… and…” He got stuck. The words regarding “intimate contact” and “losing control” simply wouldn’t come out. He just cast a panicked glance at Jiang Qingās collar before quickly looking away as if heād been burned.
“Enough,” Jiang Qing interrupted his self-reflection, his voice softening. “I told you, the one at fault is the person who drugged you, not you two. Thereās no need to keep apologizing.”
“But…” Jiang Linmu bit his lip, his voice dropping low. “I… I seem to… remember some… unpleasant things… Did I… to you…”
“Hallucinations and memory distortions caused by the drug,” Jiang Qing defined it decisively. “Don’t take it seriously. Just forget it.”
His tone was so calm, as if the entanglements and ambiguity of last night were truly just a nightmare that could be easily erased.
Jiang Linmu opened his mouth as if to say more, but under Jiang Qingās steady gaze, he eventually swallowed his words and gave a muffled “Mm.”
“Anything else?” Jiang Qing asked.
Jiang Linmu shook his head, then immediately shifted to a nod. He hesitated for a moment before asking softly, “Ge… are you in pain…?”
Jiang Qingās mouth twitched.
His backside and waist were still aching. Do you want to guess if he was in pain?
Jiang Qing gave Jiang Linmu a “peaceful” smile before scanning the room for something to throw.
Jiang Linmu seemed to realize what he was about to do and immediately scrambled toward the door.
“Ge!!! A gentleman uses his tongue, not his fists! We are brothers, you can’t hit me!!!!!”
“We don’t seek to be born on the same day, but we seek to die on the same day! Aaaahhh!!”
Jiang Linmuās screams were mostly muffled by the door, but his terror and will to survive were clearly transmitted.
Jiang Qing stood where he was, looking at the closed door.
He reached out to rub his lower back and couldn’t help but hiss.
In last nightās “scuffle,” he had to restrain two grown men driven by drugs who possessed quite a bit of strength, all while preventing them from hurting themselves or each other. During the process, he was inevitably pushed, squeezed, and even slammed into the wall or furniture several times to keep them steady. While he hadn’t suffered any serious injuries, the soreness all over his body was no lie.
Especially in a certain unspeakable area; because a certain position was maintained for too long, it was now throbbing with a dull ache.
That brat Jiang Linmu really knew how to pick the worst topic!
However, seeing how he just scrambled away, he probably realized heād asked a “fatal” question and wouldn’t dare pester him for a while.
Jiang Qing sighed, turned back to his desk, and picked up the ointment Xie Yunran had given him. He unbuttoned his shirt and looked in the mirror; sure enough, there were several obvious bruises on his waist and back, turning a dark shade of purple that stood out starkly against his fair skin.
He expressionlessly scooped out some ointment and applied it evenly to the bruises. The ointment carried a cool herbal scent and felt smooth to the touch.
During the application, fragments of those chaotic memories surfaced unbiddenāburning bodies pressed against him, unconscious rubbing, hurried breaths against his neck, and those eyes, glazed by desire and drugs, yet still stubbornly locked onto him…
Jiang Qingās hand paused for a moment before he rubbed the ointment in with more force.
He closed his eyes, forcibly suppressed those chaotic thoughts.
āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā
Since the drugging incident, Su Lin hadn’t visited the Jiang residence for a long time.
Jiang Qing assumed the kid was too embarrassed to show his face, so his days were quite peaceful.
However, his relationship with Jiang Linmu had become somewhat subtle. He remained much the same, but Jiang Linmu would occasionally look at him with a strange, cautious gaze. Whenever their eyes met, the boy would look away as if heād seen nothing, leaving behind a view of his beet-red ears and neck.
“……”
Is he sick?
After yet another instance of Jiang Linmu peeking at him, Jiang Qing finally couldn’t take it.
“Jiang Linmu, if you have something to say, say it! If not, keep it to yourself. Do you have any idea that you look like a complete idiot trying to peek at a secret crush without realizing you’ve been caught red-handed?”
“……”
Jiang Linmuās neck shrank, his face turning instantly crimson. His eyes darted around frantically, not daring to look at Jiang Qing.
Jiang Qing put down the tablet he was reading and leaned forward slightly. “Speak. What is going on? You’ve been acting like a ghost since we got back. I’m your Ge, not a man-eating tiger.”
He deliberately emphasized the word “Ge.”
Forced by Jiang Qingās gaze, Jiang Linmu finally seemed to make a decision. He looked up sharply, his voice trembling with nerves: “Ge! I… I just… I just feel… I’m sorry for what I did to you!”
The apologies again.
Jiang Qing rubbed his brow. “I said, it wasn’t your fault.”
“It’s not that!” Jiang Linmu interrupted hurriedly, his voice rising as his eyes reddened. “I mean… I… I seem to be… a bit… not right!”
He finally yelled out the words heād been suppressing for so long, looking at Jiang Qing with a lost expression.
“Not right? How? Are you feeling unwell? Or…” He thought about the psychological trauma Xie Yunran mentioned. “Are you having nightmares? Are you scared?”
“No… none of that…” Jiang Linmu shook his head violently, his hands twisting together. “It’s… it’s me… I can’t stop thinking about… about that night… And… and…”
He took a deep breath, as if using every ounce of strength to squeeze out the following words:
“…And when I think about it… I’m not scared… and I’m not disgusted… It’s… it’s… I feel strange inside… and I also… I also…”
He slammed on the brakes.
And what else? His heart would race, his face would burn, and… his body would have certain reactions he shouldn’t have.
These secret, shameful, and terrifying changesāhow could he possibly tell Jiang Qing?
āāāAuthorās Noteāāā
Hello hello, does anyone understand Qing-qingās little scheme? (Just in case you guys canāt find the Guke crumbs, Iāve pointed them out for you.)
Jiang Qing naturally knows whatās on Jiang Linmuās mind lately. He could have chosen not to ask what he was thinking, but he asked anyway. And before asking, he deliberately emphasized the word “Ge.”
