Chapter 103: The Card is Missing
“What’s the situation?”
Shi Ye, wearing a black leather jacket, exuded a wild aura. He toyed with his motorcycle keys. Although his gaze was indifferent, Pu Zong, who had worked with him for years, knew very well that their boss was in a good mood.
The manager received a look from Pu Zong and stepped forward with his head down, not even daring to make eye contact:
“Reporting to Brother Ye, the eldest Miss of the Chi family came to spend today, but she’s being fickle, constantly demanding to change people. Not only is she changing them wave after wave, but she’s also demanding we deduct the full amount from her account based on the standard of people who have already been served.”
What was the difference between this behavior and just burning money?
The keys flipped in the air and landed precisely in his palm.
Shi Ye withdrew his gaze and turned toward the main building without a word.
The manager was completely confused and looked at Pu Zong with a bewildered expression.
“Boss, this…”
Pu Zong pondered for a moment and whispered:
“This is the first time Brother Ye has come to our Gougou Paradise.”
Back then, when Shi Ye grew tired of the fighting and killing and wanted to leave the base to open a business, he had gone to beg him. He tried to use the years of friendship to borrow a piece of land to open a shop, promising to pay back double the rent later.
He had agreed then. The entire Interstellar Underground Trading City was surnamed “Shi.” With one word, he gave him the best plot of land in the A-9 Underground Trading City.
But when he heard what kind of “Doggy Paradise” he was going to open, he never showed up despite many invitations to the grand opening. Only one day after the ceremony did he send a “yellow line warning,” strictly forbidding him from crossing the boundary.
Over the years, no matter how much Gougou Paradise tried to brush against the edge, it had never crossed that line.
He knew Shi Ye’s principles better than anyone. Once the line was crossed, Gougou Paradise would only be shut down completely and could disappear from the galaxy within a day.
The manager said respectfully, “Yes.”
But he immediately thought of something and added:
“But Boss, you posted advertisements on the Interstellar News Feed before. Brother Ye should have seen them; he must know what kind of place we are.”
“That’s not the point.”
…
Outside the Interstellar Auction House, Pu Jing walked to a corner and urgently called Chi Yuzhou’s Guangnao.
The moment the connection was made, he lowered his voice:
“Family Head, I think I’ve messed things up.”
Chi Yuzhou’s voice remained steady: “What is it?”
“You told me to find a tricky reason to reject them all.”
“I… I… blame my old age and poor thinking…”
Pu Jing wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and continued:
“I said that whoever wins the highest auction item of this auction and gives it to our Miss, will…”
Chi Yuzhou’s voice grew louder: “Will what?”
Pu Jing’s heart trembled.
Recalling the fierce auction scene that had lasted for nearly four hours, he swallowed hard:
“Family Head, those four Commanders and that Mr. Chi… they all participated. This time’s top auction item was bid on for a full half-hour, reaching 170 billion Xingbi…”
Such a massive amount was hundreds of times higher than previous records. Now, the news on every planet was broadcasting this event; it was a sensation.
“What?!”
This time, the sound of Chi Yuzhou slamming the table accompanied the exclamation.
Just then, several people passed by laughing and talking.
Pu Jing caught a glimpse and thought their clothes looked familiar, but his heart was currently filled with panic after causing trouble, so he just continued his call with Chi Yuzhou.
“That person is acting suspicious.”
Cang Hui whispered as she glanced at the departing Pu Jing, then looked at the dark-faced Cang Lin beside her.
She couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“You didn’t make a mistake, did you, Cang Lin? You looked so imposing when you were raising the price, but then you reached into your pocket and the card was gone.”
Cang Lin’s face darkened even further.
If it weren’t for the fact that the card was in the jacket he gave to Chi Wan, he wouldn’t have lost the competition to Shi Ye.
His heart was filled with frustration, and his tone was harsh:
“I’m waiting for someone. You guys go first.”
When he saw her later, he would have to explain everything.
At the same time, he needed to think of a way to visit the Chi family to see Chi Yuzhou and use money to make him change his mind.
