Chapter 125: They Understand
“System! System!”
[These male leads are too difficult to handle. I’ll use my remaining Primordial Power to teleport you away.]
“No! I want the favorability points!”
The intense pain made Ji Ke writhe like a madwoman. She screamed in her mind:
“Switch to another male lead for me to conquer!”
[Your priority right now is staying alive.]
“I’M NOT WILLING!!!”
In her agony, Ji Ke’s eyes became bloodshot and terrifying.
Pei Yuan didn’t even look at her; he simply toyed with his sharp blade.
“You have ten seconds.”
[I’ll listen to you one last time. Yun Qi is a good choice. If he falls for you and binds a contract with you, you can summon him at any time for protection.]
[Beginning favorability shift for Yun Qi—]
[Yun Qi’s current favorability toward you: -9999999999.]
[Beginning reversal—]
[Reversal failed.]
What?
[Primordial Power depleted.]
[Incredible. He must have already bound a contract with someone else.]
Silver light fell, followed by absolute despair.
When Ji Ke was carried out of the building, she was barely conscious.
Ten fingers, all severed. Fingers were even stuffed into her mouth. She was covered in blood, a sight so gruesome that passing Sentinels didn’t dare look.
Her bloodshot eyes bulged as she murmured, “I don’t know… I don’t know… she isn’t in the star system anymore… I don’t know where she is…”
She was on the verge of madness.
Pei Yuan was dressed in a clean, new combat suit. No emotion showed on his refined face.
Qi Ye’s voice came through his optical computer.
“What did she say?”
“The same as we suspected. She isn’t in the system anymore.”
“She doesn’t know where she went?”
“No.”
After a second of silence, Qi Ye’s voice returned:
“I’ll go to the KLP Star System first to find her. The others can search the other systems. I’ll have to leave the Alliance to you and Li Su for now.”
On the ship, Qi Ye’s green eyes reflected the data on the star-screen.
Days of investigation had finally yielded a result. This Mr. Chi was actually the Second Prince of the Sista Empire in the KLP System.
A traveler returning from the KLP System reported that a fierce imperial war had broken out. Two of the three largest empires were involved, and the fighting was intense.
Qi Ye lowered his eyes, his gaze dark.
Chi Che had left, and immediately after, Chi Wan had vanished.
So, had she left with him?
The knuckles on the hand holding the star-screen turned white. Then, his optical computer rang again.
This time, it was a group call.
Pei Yuan’s voice drawled through the computer:
“The System Bitch regained some consciousness. She said she has something to tell all of you.”
The ship hadn’t launched yet, but the signal at the space station wasn’t great. Amidst the faint static, Ji Ke’s trembling, raspy, and hate-filled voice came through:
“I’ll tell you the truth… you’re the ones who drove her away…”
Ji Ke stared with bloodshot eyes at Pei Yuan. The System’s voice was cold:
[Continue. Use their previous behavior as a scapegoat. You can only reduce their hatred for you if you shift the target. Don’t let them think Chi Wan’s disappearance has anything to do with you.]
[The most important thing is to stay alive. They are coming to help us.]
Ji Ke tilted her head back, struggling to make a sound.
“She was bullied by you since the moment she arrived! She wanted to leave long ago!”
“That day… when she met me… she was begging me to help her leave! I didn’t think she would leave on her own so soon.”
She spoke while trembling. She had expected Pei Yuan to strike her, but he did nothing.
His lowered eyes seemed to be reflecting on something. Under the lights, his half-closed eyes were deep.
Seeing that it was working, Ji Ke grew bolder:
“She won’t choose you! Give it up!”
Love me! All of you, love me!
A large hand suddenly gripped Ji Ke’s throat. Pei Yuan’s voice was dark and freezing.
“Shut up.”
“Your words have no credibility.”
He released her in disgust, but this time, he didn’t strike her again.
No matter how indifferent they appeared on the surface, they all understood. After these days of searching and reflection, they realized that Chi Wan had likely wanted to leave for a long time.
The ownership of the Dudu robot had been transferred in advance. The Interstellar Flight Bureau found that she had filled out multiple forms ahead of time.
Even her contribution points at the base had been systematically cleared.
She had chosen, of her own accord, to leave this star system.
To leave them.
