Chapter 128: I Miss You So Much

Pu Jing stood in the white corridor, looking toward the medical room door. He whispered into his optical computer:
“Miss Ji Ke is mostly recovered… of the ten fingers, nine were sewn back on. One was too severely damaged to be saved.”
Through the optical computer, Chi Yuzhouâs voice showed little emotion:
“You said before that Commander Qi Ye claimed she was the one who drove Wanwan away. Has the investigation cleared that up yet?”
“Miss Chi Wan… it seems more like she left on her own, but the reason for her departure is still unclear.”
“Mhm…”
Chi Yuzhouâs voice was full of exhaustion:
“Regardless, she is still my biological daughter in medical terms. Keep an eye on her.”
“Yes, Patriarch.”
Pu Jing returned to the medical room. Ji Ke was now able to get out of bed and feed herself. Under the star systemâs most advanced treatment devices, her nine fingers had almost entirely recovered.
During this period, she had been quite well-behaved while recovering and waiting for her Systemâs primordial power to replenish, hiding in the medical room without going anywhere.
She walked toward Pu Jing: “Butler, are the Commanders back?”
“There has been a massive outbreak of pollution entities these past few days. Almost all the Commanders are back, except for Commander Qi Ye.”
“The fighting in the exploration zones is very intense.”
Pu Jing lowered his eyes and spoke the truth.
Last night, a tide of pollution entities had even struck the perimeter of the Alliance.
As a member of this star system, who wouldnât want world peace?
Pu Jing shook his head: “Sigh… I donât know whatâs wrong with this world.”
“Those Sentinels, especially the Commanders, have barely slept for days.”
And he had heard that since Guide Chi Wan left, none of them had visited another Guide’s soothing room. They were relying entirely on suppressants to manage their violence values.

To Ji Ke, these words sounded like a rare opportunity.

If something happened, he wouldnât be able to answer to the Patriarch.
Ji Ke looked at Pu Jingâs arm blocking her path and felt he was simply obstructing her path to a comeback. Her eyes grew sharp:
“Move!”
Following the Sentinels all the way to the exploration zone, Ji Ke was in constant conversation with her System inside the car cabin:
“I’m starting to lose my confidence, System. Everything has been so difficult since I arrived here.”
On her lap, the hand missing its middle finger looked grotesque. She pulled her sleeve down to hide the deformity.
The Systemâs voice remained cold and calm as ever:
[With a super System like me assisting you, there is no need for self-doubt.]
[You must realize that when I served in the Main God System, I was a top-tier designated System. I handled missions in grand planes and was bound to extraordinary chosen ones.]

Ji Ke didnât know exactly what “Main God System” or “planes” meant, but she felt immensely secure because of the Systemâs words.
Yes, to bind with it, she had killed her parents and bombed a building just to earn the qualification.

“Commander Shen Yu! Faster!”
“Understood.”
The car sped up. The Systemâs voice continued:

The car was forced to a stop by the thick pollution mist.
Shen Yuâs favorability had reached 99.
Ji Ke stepped out of the car.
Though she had prepared herself, she still felt a tremor of fear at the sight of the colossal pollution entities looming in the mist, the occasionally flying debris, and the earth-shattering explosions.
In this intense combat zone where one could lose their life at any moment, even communication was difficult. How could she develop a relationship here?
With this in mind, she decided to wait in the car for the battle to end, lest her image be dirtied and her charm diminished.
Growing bored of the wait, Ji Ke even took a nap.
The sound of the cabin door opening woke her. She sat up and looked outside.
Shen Yu, dressed in his white combat suit, stood tall against the light before quickly stepping into the cabin, almost rushing toward her.
His phoenix eyes were red as he looked at her. Dark circles of exhaustion lined his eyes, and his pressed lips were pale.
He knelt on one knee before her. His gaze was like starlight reflecting in a pool of murky water as he stared at her intentlyâa mix of love and vulnerability that made oneâs heart ache.
Being watched with such a gaze, Ji Ke felt as if she were someone being held in the palm of a hand and deeply loved.
Her heart raced wildly and her face flushed.
In this moment, she felt she was falling.
The youthâs lips parted slightly, but the words he spoke felt like a bucket of ice water poured over her.
“You’re finally back… I missed you so much.”
Ji Keâs expression froze. No matter how stupid she was, she knew he was talking about Chi Wan.
In the next second, Shen Yuâs gaze turned icy:
“Guide Chi Wan, why have your features changed? Your eye color is different, and your hair is not the same.”
The questioning words ended as a cold, flat statement.
Ji Ke lowered her eyes to hide her panic. As she scrambled for a response, a cold blade suddenly stopped a mere three millimeters from her pupil, causing it to contract violently.
The sword-qi from the blade bit into her eyes, which quickly grew bloodshot and filled with tears from the pain.
“Ji Ke, if you try to bewitch me again, I will kill you outright.”
Ji Ke watched Shen Yuâs retreating back in a daze.
She didn’t know if it was an illusion, but she felt he looked so despondent that he didn’t even have the energy to waste another word on her.

A deep sense of crisis rose in Ji Keâs heart.
Did she really still have a chance?

Ji Ke is really struggling! She’s learning the hard way that “favorability” (弽ć庌 – HÇogÇndĂš) isn’t just a number; it can’t easily overwrite the deep feelings the Commanders have for Chi Wan.
