Chapter 100: The Other Half of the Jade Pendant
The Demon Realm, Beiming Mountain.
Deep within a cavern.
Dense spiritual energy permeated the mountain cave, and bubbles floated in a pool of water at its center.
That spiritual energy was radiating precisely from this spiritual liquid.
This was an incredibly rare sight in the Demon Realm.
Because the Demon Realm was sparse in spiritual energy, it was exceptionally difficult for cultivators to absorb energy for cultivation here.
This was also the reason why Wu Gou and Ning Ke had felt their cultivation stagnating upon entering the Demon Realm.
Yet, this pool of water was entirely transformed from spiritual energy; every drop was extremely pure. If one were to absorb it all, advancing their cultivation by a major stage would certainly not be a difficult task.
At this moment, deep within the pool, a person sat silently. With eyes closed, spiritual energy tunneled into his pores, even forming a spiritual vortex behind his back that continuously poured into his body.
It was none other than Lou Yunxiao.
Following the battle at Beiyou City, his Mo energy had already reached the peak of the Huashen stage, yet his spiritual energy had remained only at the mid-Huashen stage.
Now, with the aid of the pool water, it took only ten days for his spiritual energy to reach equilibrium with his Mo energy. He had now reached the final step of breaking through to the Heti stage.
The spiritual vortex spun faster and faster, causing the pool water to churn relentlessly.
Dark clouds gathered outside Beiming Mountain, with arcs of lightning snaking through the clouds.
The transition from the Huashen stage to the Heti stage was a qualitative leap in a cultivator’s strength.
One had to undergo the tempering of a lightning tribulation to achieve the advancement.
However, it also came with considerable risk; a single moment of carelessness could result in the total dissipation of one’s soul.
Lou Yunxiao frowned slightly, releasing a protective shield woven from both spiritual and Mo energy.
After layering several shields over himself, with a thunderous boom, the first bolt of the lightning tribulation struck down.
It pierced directly through Beiming Mountain and slammed heavily into the pool water.
Strangely, however, once the lightning entered the pool, it seemed to be swallowed and weakened, gently tempering Lou Yunxiaoās body.
Looking closely, one would notice that the pool water itself carried electrical arcs.
Every thread of it was merging with the lightning of the tribulation.
Behind Lou Yunxiao, a woman formed from the pool water gently embraced him.
Those electrical arcs were radiating from the womanās body.
Lou Yunxiao touched the watery wrist of Bai Wanru. “Mother… is it you helping me?”
The woman did not answer.
She was merely a sliver of an obsession.
She could not answer anyone’s questions.
But even so, Lou Yunxiao was already very satisfied.
Though he did not know why his motherās aura was within this pool, this brief reunion was enough to bring him immense warmth.
He did not dare to ask for more.
The lightning bolts struck down one by one until the final bolt concluded.
Lou Yunxiao opened his eyes. The dark crimson in his gaze faded, and his aura surged.
A gold-and-black disc appeared behind him; the two colors were in balance, and his demonic thoughts receded.
He had finally succeeded in reaching the Heti stage.
Fragments of his time spent with Ning Ke after his demonization surfaced in his mind.
He had used his demonization to get close to that person, intentionally not mentioning the trip to the underground palace, and purposely avoiding talk of everything A-Ke had done for him. It was all for his own selfish desiresāto downplay the injuries the other had suffered because of him, thinking only of glossing over the truth and living day by day with that person by his side…
He hadn’t dared to expose A-Ke, because he was afraid of hearing an answer that would terrify him.
Now, he could no longer continue like this.
He had to make his feelings clear.
He had to understand A-Keās true thoughts.
And he had to repay everything he owed A-Ke.
With this thought, he prepared to surface, but unexpectedly, his sleeve was caught by the woman.
“Mother? What is it?”
The woman did not answer but dived toward the bottom of the pool, stopping at a certain spot and remaining still.
Lou Yunxiao followed her. His fingers touched the bottom of the pool, and after digging down a bit, he actually unearthed half of a jade pendant!
It was the other half of the jade pendant he had previously given to his “Older Sister”!
This jade pendant had been specially crafted by his mother for him; the mother and son each held a half.
Now that the pendant was here, it proved even more that Bai Wanru intended to tell him something.
Lou Yunxiao picked up the pendant and infused it with spiritual energy, but received no response.
He realized that Bai Wanru must have set a secret technique; he would need to obtain the half he gave his “Sister” and join them together to know his mother’s true intentions.
Tucking the jade pendant close to his body, Lou Yunxiao broke the surface of the water.
With a wave of his hand, ice crystals quickly condensed into a massive water tank. He poured all the spiritual liquid into it and stored it inside his spatial ring.
Lou Yunxiao stepped out of the cave.
He could not wait to see A-Ke.
