Chapter 120: The Wuji Space
When Ning Ke woke again, three days had already passed.
He had returned to his human form and was covered from head to toe in bandages, with only his face exposed.
The demonic qi within him was still raging, causing cold sweat to break out on his forehead from the pain.
Surveying his surroundings, he found himself lying in a bamboo hut. Through the window beside him, he could see a lush green bamboo forest.
The interior was neatly arranged. A kettle sat atop a nearby stove, making a bubbling sound.
An incense burner emitted a faint, soothing fragrance that dulled his pain.
[Xiao Yuan, are you there?]
He called out to the system in his consciousness.
[I’m here.]
[What happened after I passed out? Can you tell me?] Ning Ke asked. [And where are Senior Jun, Sect Leader Gao, and Wugou?]
[Host, the space Jun Mo tore open happened to be the entrance to the Wuji Space. He sent all of you inside. He himself stayed behind to stall that Mad God, and then…]
“Great Beauty, you’re finally awake!”
Xiao Yuanās words were interrupted by the person pushing the door open.
It was a man wrapped in bandages from head to toe, leaving only a pair of eyes, nostrils, ears, and a mouth exposed.
The bandages around his head were somewhat loose, covering a Taoist bun secured with a chopstick. The exposed phoenix eyes were sharp and bright.
He held a palm-sized egg in his hand, waving it before Ning Ke like he was claiming credit. “Great Beauty, are you hungry? Watch Big Brother roast this egg for you to eat!”
While Ning Ke was still dazed, he heard Xiao Yuanās sharp intake of breath: [Host, that dragon egg is Jun Mo! Stop him quickly, don’t let him roast it!]
Ning Ke was startled. He reached out to grab the manās sleeve, using quite a bit of force in his panic. Unexpectedly, the demonic qi surged, causing him to lose his strength from the pain.
In the next instant, he fell into the manās embrace.
Looking up into those phoenix eyes, he heard the man ask:
“Great Beauty, are you throwing yourself into my arms?”
Ning Ke froze and hurriedly said, “I’m not!”
“I want that egg.”
“Ah, so I’m not even worth as much as an egg in Great Beauty’s heart?”
“Oh my, I’m heartbroken, truly heartbroken.” He feigned a sob, one hand circling Ning Keās waist while the other toyed with the dragon egg. He said to Ning Ke:
“How about this? Call me ‘Good Big Brother,’ and Iāll give this egg to you. What do you say?”
“…” Ning Ke realized he was being teased by this man. However, with his injuries and the man’s unfathomable cultivation, he feared that if he didn’t yield, Jun Mo would truly be in danger.
He as much as grit his teeth and called out: “Good… Big Brother.”
“Aiy, that sounds so lovely.”
The manās phoenix eyes curved into smiles. He handed the egg over to Ning Ke and said, “Go ahead and warm this stupid dragon well. Iām still waiting to mock him when he hatches.”
Ning Ke was stunned. He asked, “How did you know this was a dragon egg?”
The man rose to brew a pot of tea using the boiling water on the stove and handed it to Ning Ke.
Then, he dragged a chair over, straddled it with his arms resting on the back, and sat by Ning Keās bed. He said with a grin, “Because I am a Phoenix. I can still smell that stupid dragonās scent.”
“…”
Ning Ke held the teacup, his mouth agape as he processed this for a moment.
Finally, he said, “So that means you never intended to roast the egg from the beginning?”
The man nodded. “Mm.”
“So you were teasing me just now?”
“Mm-hm.”
“Just to make me call you that?”
“Mm-hm-hm. The sound of you calling me is truly pleasant. I like it very much.”
“You…” Ning Ke was exasperated.
He didn’t know how to vent his frustration, which eventually turned into a long sigh.
“Hahaha, Great Beauty, even your look of suppressed anger is so cute.”
The man leaned against the edge of the chair, swinging his legs. He stared at Ning Ke as if he couldn’t get enough. “The more I look at you, the more you seem to have grown right into my heart. Isn’t it popular nowadays to ‘repay a life-saving debt with one’s body’? Look, I saved you; how about you marry yourself to me?”
“…Senior, please stop joking.”
Seeing that Ning Keās face had darkened, the man finally restrained himself. “Alright, alright, as you wish.”
He knew what Ning Ke wanted to ask, so he spoke up first.
“My name is Feng Yu. I have been exiled to the Wuji Space by the God Realm for a hundred years. Three days ago, I saw a fox and two humans fall bloodily from the sky, staining my fish pond red. I was about to kick you all out, but then I saw you transform into human form. Aiyaya, truly too beautiful.”
Feng Yu cupped his face in his hands, his eyes shining as he stared at Ning Ke.
“So, I reluctantly picked you all up.”
“Just after I carried you into the house, another egg fell from the skyāthis stupid dragon. I figured you were all together, so I picked up the dragon egg as well.”
Hearing this description, Ning Ke hurriedly asked, “What about the people who fell with me?”
“That bald headās strength was too weak; he couldn’t withstand the spiritual pressure of the Wuji Space, so I threw him into the back mountain cave to cultivate.”
“That old manās injuries weren’t light, but he said his strength was insufficient and that heād held you back, so he ran off to comprehend a domain.”
“Oh, I was the one who taught him the domain.” He looked at Ning Keās face and added with a grin, “For your sake, of course.”
Hearing Feng Yuās explanation, Ning Ke breathed a sigh of relief.
He felt a sense of gratitude toward Feng Yu.
He said, “Thank you for your life-saving grace, Senior.”
Feng Yu immediately looked expectant. “So, will you ‘repay me with your body’?”
“…No.”
“Fine.” Feng Yuās head drooped. Then, remembering something, he got down to business.
“I heard from the bald head that you all fought a god and ended up this badly injured?”
“Yes.”
“That god called himself Lie Yang?”
“Correct.” Ning Ke asked, “Senior, do you know him?”
“I wouldn’t say I know him, but I’ve heard the rumors,” Feng Yu said. “He’s no good. Relying on his Spatial Domain, he spent every day coveting the position of the Main God. But since he couldn’t beat the Main God, he turned to crooked paths. Eventually, he thoroughly enraged the Main God, had his Godhead destroyed, and was exiled to the lower planes. I haven’t heard any news of him since.”
After saying that, Feng Yu pointed to himself. “Of course, I’m no good either, otherwise I wouldn’t have been exiled to a small place like the Wuji Space.”
Ning Ke was slightly stunned.
It was the first time he had met someone who so bluntly stated they were “no good.”
However, listening to Feng Yu, it seemed deities were only exiled when they committed a crime.
Feng Yu must have done something wrong to be sent here as well.
“That stupid dragon was smart enough to send you to the Wuji Space.” Feng Yu tapped the dragon egg beside Ning Ke. “The Wuji Space is closer to the God Realm than other planes. The reason the Sun God Lie Yang dares not pursue you here is that if he causes trouble in this place, there’s a high chance heāll be discovered by the God Realm. If the host of gods descends, he won’t have a good time.”
Hearing this, Ning Keās mind relaxed.
If that god dared not follow them, they could recover here in peace.
It gave them time to adjust.
Lowering his eyes to the dragon egg, Ning Ke asked Feng Yu, “Senior, do you know how to make Senior Jun Mo hatch from the egg?”
Feng Yu waved a hand dismissively. “Turning back into an egg is a method of self-preservation when one is too heavily injured. Once he accumulates enough power, heāll hatch on his own. Don’t worry about him.”
“The focus now is you, Great Beauty.”
Feng Yu reached out, tapping Ning Keās chest, his tone growing serious.
“I want to ask, just how did you manage to trash your own body into this state?”
