“Have you never considered an alternative possibility?” Abbot Wujue sneered and interjected, “Could it be that Ning Ke went behind the backs of the Human and Yao clans and secretly joined forces with the Great Demons?”
“This way, him taking the form of a nine-tailed fox to massacre the villagers of Jiuhe Village while leaving traces of demonic energy behind all makes perfect sense.”
“You spew utter garbage!”
The doors to the grand hall were violently smashed open with a loud Bang!
One of the massive wooden doors flew straight at Abbot Wujue. Though the Abbot shattered it with his staff, he was still showered in wood splinters, looking rather disheveled.
The cat girl Yue Ya, wielding a nine-section whip, glared furiously at the old monk. “Our Yao Zun despises demons with a passion! It’s absolutely impossible for him to team up with them! You old bald donkey, stop spouting nonsense and slandering our Lord!”
“Yue Ya, do not be insolent.”
Yin Feng lightly reprimanded her, yet he simultaneously stepped onto the other door panel. He didn’t seem to exert any force, but the door instantly turned to powder. Along with it, the stone tiles beneath his feet caved in, cracks spider-webbing outwards with a spine-chilling crunch, fully displaying his suppressed displeasure.
However, having managed the Yao Realm for Ning Ke for so many years, Yin Feng had learned to mask his emotions perfectly. His face remained expressionless as he addressed Abbot Wujue.
“Sect Masters, one must have evidence before speaking. Although our Lord is currently absent, he is not someone you can just pin baseless accusations onto.”
“If the Sect Masters relentlessly insist on slandering our Sovereign, then I don’t mind making everyone pay the price for what they’ve said.”
“Preposterous!” Abbot Wujue stood up in a fit of rage and shouted at Yin Feng, “You claim I am slandering the Yao Zun, then have him come out and confront me face-to-face! If he can stand before me and clear his name, then I will believe he hasn’t harmed our human commoners!”
“Bah!” Yue Ya didn’t care about propriety. A usually quiet girl, she turned into a firecracker the moment it involved her Lord, cursing loudly: “Even if we found our Lord, you’d be the one having to beg at the Yao Palace to pay your respects! You want our Lord to lower himself to come and clarify things to you? What kind of ridiculous daydream is that?!”
“You little demon, what a boastful tone!” Abbot Wujue had never been insulted like this before. His beard trembled with rage as he bellowed, “I’m going to teach you a lesson today no matter what!”
Yue Ya bared her fangs. “Come on then, come on! My hands have been itching anyway, I can just use an old thing like you for practice!”
The atmosphere between the two was explosive, ready to detonate at any moment.
On the other side, Wei Qinghai and Hong Yao hastily intervened, pulling Abbot Wujue back and urging him.
“Abbot Wujue, calm down. Haven’t we got enough of a mess on our hands already?”
