Chapter 17 [Deceived by the Little Beast]
The next day, You Yuanyuan woke up to broad daylight.
He opened his drowsy, cold eyes and saw the misty haze shrouding the forest outside the wide-open aluminum-wood window. Shafts of sunlight pierced through the dense layers of leaves, casting dappled shadows onto the bedroom floor beneath the windowsill. The gentle, warm summer breeze, accompanied by the crisp, melodious chirping of birds, drifted pleasantly into his ears.
You Yuanyuan took a deep breath of the early morning forest air, feeling refreshed and relaxed. His long eyelashes fluttered slowly, his eyes pure and tranquil. Like an immortal untouched by mortal dust, his beauty was breathtaking.
Suddenly, the events of yesterday flashed into his mind. His primary personality had switched out, sought out Shi Yuefeng’s sister, and then fought thirty of Shi Yuefeng’s bodyguards that night, ultimately passing out from the intoxicating red wine pheromones.
He couldn’t remember anything after that.
Seeing that he was perfectly fine now, lying in bed having changed into clean pajamas, he assumed he must have won the fight.
You Yuanyuan was still a bit dizzy after getting out of bed. He changed into the new shirt and suit trousers Zhou She had custom-tailored for him. This time, the waist was taken in perfectly, and the seat was no longer tight. The length of the trousers was also just right.
The moment he opened the milky-white double doors of the bedroom, he saw Zhou She standing nervously at the door, looking as if he had been waiting for a long time.
“Secretary Zhou?” You Yuanyuan looked at him with a clear, open gaze.
Zhou She first stared at You Yuanyuan’s expression, observing whether it was the primary or secondary personality right now. Once he confirmed it was the secondary personality, he asked in a low, worried voice, “You Ye, Tao Shu told me everything. He said you were drunk last night and were carried back by that little brat Xing Lie. It’s my fault for not telling you that you can’t touch a single drop of alcohol; the moment you do, you lose your composure. Did… did that little beast Xing Lie trick you into drinking?”
“No, I didn’t drink. I was intoxicated by red wine pheromones.” You Yuanyuan lowered his eyes, a dark undercurrent surging within them. So it was Xing Lie who had brought him back.
Zhou She froze, growing even more worried. “Whose red wine pheromones?”
You Yuanyuan: “Shi Yuefeng’s.”
He told Zhou She everything that had happened over the past few days. Zhou She’s face turned white, then green, and then red, changing colors like a traffic light.
After You Yuanyuan finished speaking, Zhou She gritted his teeth. “That Shi Yuefeng looks so respectable on TV, but he turns out to be such a fucking pervert. Is he seriously sick in the head? If he lacks a sense of security, he should just hire a few more bodyguards to protect himself. Spending ten million to buy a sense of security from you—what a psycho!”
“But,” Zhou She frowned, “why was it Xing Lie who brought you back?”
You Yuanyuan frowned and shook his head.
Zhou She hadn’t been there yesterday either, so he wasn’t entirely clear on what happened. Regardless, as long as You Yuanyuan hadn’t passed out from drinking and had returned safely, that was enough. He said, “You Ye, breakfast is ready. Let’s head downstairs to eat.”
You Yuanyuan pursed his lips, feeling somewhat repulsed. “My heat period is approaching. I have no appetite these days and don’t want to eat anything.”
“I was afraid your heat was approaching, so I had Liu Yisheng buy the vitamin drinks. Let me pour some into a cup for you to drink later,” Zhou She said.
You Yuanyuan said seriously, “Uh, my required dosage is a bit high. Yesterday, my primary personality drank three bottles at once. My body felt a little uncomfortable at first, but it absorbed them very well later on, and there were no side effects. So, remember to pour three bottles for me.”
Zhou She: “…” Won’t that over-nourish him?
First-floor courtyard.
Looking out from the east door of the living room was the courtyard. The entire villa was decorated based on classical Chinese garden art styles. The design of this courtyard also leaned toward a modern Chinese style.
The ground was paved with gray matte tiles. Tall green bamboo, low shrubs, and a pomegranate tree were planted in the courtyard. To the side was a small ecological pond.
The pond was encircled by colorful pebbles, with a few larger rocks interspersed. Wildgrass grew freely, occasionally mixed with small wildflowers, and the edges were damp with green moss. Goldfish and koi were raised in the pond, with water lilies floating on the surface.
You Yuanyuan sat in a chair by the edge of the pond. He wore a snow-white shirt and black suit trousers with dark gray stripes. A freshly replaced, specially made invisible barrier patch was affixed to his pale neck.
In his left hand, he held a large cup containing three bottles of vitamin drink poured by Zhou She, displaying a pale aqua blue color. In his right hand, he held fine-grained fish food, sprinkling it into the pond bit by bit. The fish swam over, wagging their heads and tails, scrambling for the food.
His thoughts were drifting, his mind wandering.
He still couldn’t recall why it was Xing Lie who brought him back yesterday. Hearing from Zhou She that he was carried back horizontally in his arms, and looking completely unconscious at that… Didn’t that mean he was entirely at the other party’s mercy?
Would Xing Lie have discovered his secret?
You Yuanyuan frowned slightly, feeling a bit of lingering fear. He figured he couldn’t take any more missions for the time being; he had to survive this dangerous heat period first.
Suddenly, a stone was tossed into the pond, splashing water high into the air. A drop of water even splashed onto You Yuanyuan’s face. Startled, the fish scattered and fled without a trace.
Who would dare do something so unruly?
You Yuanyuan wiped the pond water off his face. Frowning, he turned his head and saw Xing Lie standing by the second-floor bedroom window, a detestable smirk curving the corners of his mouth. Those wild eyes looked down at You Yuanyuan from above.
“You Ye, what are you drinking?” Xing Lie rested his elbows on the windowsill. Due to his height, he had to bend over for his chin to rest on his hands.
You Yuanyuan had almost forgotten that this little beast Xing Lie had moved back in. Turning his head back, he stopped looking at Xing Lie and silently drank the remaining vitamin drink, almost filling his stomach to bursting.
Then, he slowly closed his eyes. Ignoring Xing Lie, he didn’t really want to face him, so he switched out his primary personality.
As soon as he switched to his primary personality, Xing Lie vaulted out of the second-floor window. With an agile form, he landed steadily in the courtyard and strode toward You Yuanyuan with his long legs.
The primary personality also didn’t want to face Xing Lie. He closed his eyes and tried to switch back to the secondary personality.
But this time, the secondary personality hid away and refused to come out no matter what.
The primary personality’s face darkened, his cold, unearthly features radiating a chilling aura. He tilted his chin up slightly, revealing a beautifully superior jawline. It gave him a high-and-mighty, arrogantly cold look.
Even having switched back to his primary personality, he couldn’t remember what happened after being intoxicated by the pheromones last night.
However, he wanted to know why it was Xing Lie who brought him back.
“Halt,” You Yuanyuan said coldly without turning his head, hearing Xing Lie’s footsteps stop just a few paces behind him. “What is your relationship with Shi Yuefeng? Confess honestly, lest you get beaten.”
From behind, Xing Lie let out a low scoff. One could easily imagine his obnoxious, disrespectful expression.
“You Ye, what relationship could I possibly have with Shi Yuefeng? If I absolutely have to say we have one, then it’s probably that he’s my ex,” Xing Lie said in a teasing tone, his eyes fathomless.
You Yuanyuan’s gaze paused, then grew even colder. He turned his head slightly, revealing his perfectly curved, beautiful side profile: “You dated him?”
“In the past, when he hired me as a bodyguard, he pursued me, so we dated for a while,” Xing Lie replied.
As soon as the words left his mouth, You Yuanyuan threw all the fish food in his right hand straight at Xing Lie’s face. Tiny, grayish-brown pellets of fish food cascaded down that sharply carved, wildly arrogant, handsome face; a few even mischievously fell into his clothes.
As expected, You Yuanyuan was still just as rough and domineering; throwing whatever was in his hand at someone’s face the moment he was displeased. His vulnerability last night seemed like a mere illusion, utterly unworthy of anyone’s heartache.
The smile on Xing Lie’s lips only froze for a second before curling back up into a wicked grin. He didn’t feel angry at all; instead, he reveled in it. He just loved provoking You Yuanyuan.
You Yuanyuan stood up and slammed the cup heavily onto the wooden table. A fifth of the vitamin drink remained unfinished, sloshing inside the cup.
He walked up to Xing Lie and kicked him, his brow twitching in anger. “I was wondering why that little beast was such a bastard; it turns out he learned it from you. Truly birds of a feather, both equally in need of a lesson!”
Because he was currently in the pre-heat period, his physical stamina wasn’t very good, so the force behind his kick was less than a fifth of what it usually was.
That neither-light-nor-heavy kick actually just tickled Xing Lie. As if he hadn’t had enough, he continued to provoke You Yuanyuan: “He’s probably just angry that I dumped him, but couldn’t find a way to retaliate against me. Learning that you’re my boss, he hired you to vent his resentment over being dumped. I found out about this yesterday, which is why I brought you back.”
Sure enough, You Yuanyuan believed it. He was so angry that a tinge of red appeared in the corners of his cold eyes. His chest heaved, and he delivered another kick to Xing Lie’s chest.
“Get the hell out!” You Yuanyuan yelled at Xing Lie, pointing at the door.
The maids and the housekeeper all grew nervous, afraid that the two would start clashing with their pheromones again, and scrambled to hide. However, both of them held off on releasing their pheromones. This left the servants somewhat confused.
Poking his head out from the back door frame, Zhou She was worried to death. Anxiously, he said, “You Ye, don’t be angry, don’t be angry.”
Before the heat period, one must try to avoid generating excessively strong emotions; otherwise, it could cause the heat period to arrive early.
Xing Lie covered his kicked chest, gauging You Yuanyuan’s current strength. Not bad. He didn’t move his feet. “You Ye, I’ve already moved in. Where am I supposed to roll to?”
You Yuanyuan flew into a rage: “Split the company, split the company! Isn’t splitting the company what you want? I’ve already instructed Zhou She to handle the arrangements for the split. When the time comes, take your faction of people and get the hell out to establish your own business! Do whatever you want, just don’t appear in front of my eyes ever again! You’ve achieved your goal, now scram!”
He yelled this all in one breath, kicked a chair, and turned his back on Xing Lie with his hands on his hips, not wanting to see this bastard anymore.
The suit trousers he wore today were perfectly tailored. His white shirt was tucked into the waistband, outlining a slender, powerful waistline. Below that narrow waist, the trousers also outlined the full curve of his rear—neither too tight nor too loose, practically a perfect fit. Beneath the pant legs, his two legs appeared long and straight.
Xing Lie hadn’t intended to look at these places, but his eyes stopped listening to his brain. He recalled the way those legs had kicked someone; crisp and powerful, the movement clean, sharp, and incredibly beautiful.
After differentiating into an Omega, You Yuanyuan had indeed become softer. Even his enraged appearance wasn’t as terrifying as before; instead, it looked more like he was throwing a little tantrum.
So this must be what captivated Shi Yuefeng.
Truly an old man with no shame, knowing nothing but how to seduce tender grass.
Wait, what was You Yuanyuan saying?
Split the company?
He clearly didn’t allow the split before; why was he suddenly allowing it now?
Xing Lie’s tall figure stood rooted to the spot, unknown dark currents swirling in his gaze. Staring deeply at You Yuanyuan’s back, he inexplicably became displeased.
No matter what, it should have been him forcing You Yuanyuan to split the company. Now that You Yuanyuan proactively proposed it, it felt like he was kicking him out like a dog.
Besides, he didn’t just want to split the company; he also wanted to strip You Yuanyuan of his power. If they split the company, his reach wouldn’t be that long anymore. He wouldn’t know what You Yuanyuan was doing every day, what he was eating, what he was thinking, who he was interacting with, or who he was spending time with.
If there was ever a day he didn’t know what You Yuanyuan was doing, he would feel panicked and uneasy.
He couldn’t split the company just yet.
He had finally gotten his hands on You Yuanyuan’s little secret of differentiating into an Omega, and he hadn’t even toyed with him properly yet. How could he just split the company and roll away?
Xing Lie advanced by retreating. “You Ye, then before we split the company, let me stay here first. After all, once we split, we might never see each other again.”
You Yuanyuan turned his head, his eyes shooting cold daggers. “Don’t act hypocritical here. We both hope to never see each other again. Back when you moved out, you said that even if you died, you would never move back in. I remember that correctly, don’t I?”
The day Xing Lie spat out those harsh words was the day You Yuanyuan unsuccessfully tried to force himself on him for the fifth time. He certainly remembered what he had said. But so what? A slap to the face is a slap to the face; who hasn’t said things without leaving themselves a way out?
“Since You Ye has put it that way…”
While Xing Lie was speaking, You Yuanyuan caught sight of Zhou She at the door frame, mouthing the words: “Col-lect-pher-o-mones.”
Only then did You Yuanyuan remember this matter. He still needed to use Xing Lie’s soothing pheromones for his heat period! He cut Xing Lie off: “Fine, if you want to move back in for a while, you can. But this Zunyue Tai of mine is not an entertainment club. It’s not a place you can come and go as you please. So if you want to come back, you must pay a price.”
Before utilizing Xing Lie, he still had to make things difficult for him. Otherwise, coming and going as he pleased, what did he take You Yuanyuan’s home for?
The rest of Xing Lie’s sentence died in his throat. A pleasant smile curled on his lips. Since he was giving him room to negotiate, it meant he definitely had some use value. He was actually quite interested in what value he had that You Yuanyuan could exploit.
“What price?” A beastly look of amusement appeared in Xing Lie’s eyes.
You Yuanyuan sat back in his chair. Adopting an arrogant and severe posture, he said, “Call me ‘Dad.’ Otherwise, under what pretense are you moving back in?” Truly venting a long-held grudge.
[Author’s Note:]
[You Yuanyuan throws the script down: “What kind of trashy dialogue is this? Saying this is just begging to be fucked!”]
[Director Shu: “Right, right, exactly.”]
[A little spoiler: Shi Yuefeng is not Xing Lie’s ex; Xing Lie is just talking out of his ass. Their relationship will be explained later in the story.]
