Chapter 8 [The Little Beast Smelled My Pheromones]
What Zhou She saw from the sidelines was You Yuanyuan wearing a cold, arrogant expression, completely ignoring Xing Lie in an exceedingly unapproachable manner. It was as if Xing Lie was something completely repulsive to him, making every extra second spent in his presence unbearable, and without deigning to say a single word, he turned around and left.
Zhou She wanted to laugh internally. He knew that You Yuanyuan was actually physically overwhelmed due to Xing Lie’s pheromones. It was just that You Yuanyuan was born with a face as cold as frost. When those eyes weren’t smiling, they were freezing and distant. Coupled with his physical discomfort, it gave people the impression that he was high and mighty, pushing others thousands of miles away.
At this moment, Xing Lie’s gaze was dark and chilly. He withdrew his hand, not feeling awkward in the slightest. He glanced at Zhou She and asked, “Why has your master gotten shorter?”
Zhou She could no longer laugh internally. His brain crashed for a few seconds before he replied without missing a beat, “He didn’t put in his height-increasing insoles today.”
What a perfect, impeccable explanation.
See, even Xing Lie’s expression turned strange after being hit with that explanation.
Xing Lie didn’t say anything more to him. He looked toward the direction You Yuanyuan had left; he had entered the training building. He couldn’t shake the feeling that You Yuanyuan had been acting very unusually lately. The last time at Zunyue Tai, You Yuanyuan had let him go easily, and this time, You Yuanyuan directly avoided him.
Who knew what Xing Lie was thinking. He stuffed the black sports sweatband back into his pocket and, striding with his long legs, headed toward the training building as well.
The training building sat behind the sycamore trees. It only had three floors, and there was a corridor on the third-floor rooftop connecting to the cafeteria. The third floor of the cafeteria, in turn, was connected by a corridor to the third floor of the main building. Therefore, these three buildings were actually interconnected.
You Yuanyuan felt his scent gland burning intensely. A hazy veil of desire tainted his cold, pristine eyes. Clutching the back of his neck, he was almost unable to bear it anymore; he had to find a nearby place to tear off the barrier patch.
There were people on the first floor, so he headed up to the second floor, searching the corridor outside the various training rooms for a secluded, empty space.
Finally, he saw that the door to Equipment Room (1) was locked. It should be empty inside. He placed his index finger on the fingerprint lock, quickly opened it, and after scanning his surroundings to ensure no one was there, he slipped inside silently like a shadow.
The equipment room was filled with rows of cold-rolled steel storage racks, each two meters high and loaded with various training equipment.
It was an excellent place to take cover.
You Yuanyuan walked to the very last row and ripped off the scorching barrier patch. Instantly, the rich scent of Snow Mountain Cold Cotton pheromones was released, sweeping into every corner of the approximately hundred-square-meter equipment room.
After releasing them, he felt slightly more comfortable, though the burning heat within his body still hadn’t subsided. He wanted to try and train himself to endure without inhibitors, to see if he could control the surging tide of heat.
It was just like when he was a child, watching his mother torture his beloved puppy to death, thereby training him not to shed tears, not to feel sad, not to grieve, and not to feel pain—suppressing emotions, binding instincts, and exercising absolute control.
He closed his eyes. A minute later, he could clearly feel the burning heat in his lower abdomen subsiding. The phone in his pocket vibrated. Taking it out, he saw that Zhou She had sent him a message: You Ye, I saw Xing Lie enter the training building.
You Yuanyuan immediately became vigilant. It was highly likely that Xing Lie was coming to look for him. After all, his behavior just now had been quite strange. Moreover, he had been intentionally avoiding Xing Lie lately, and the other party must have noticed the abnormality and was intentionally or unintentionally testing him.
Right now, the entire equipment room was filled with the crisp, pure, sweet, and icy scent of his Snow Mountain Cold Cotton. Wisps of it were seeping out through the cracks in the door. Xing Lie would smell it very soon. He absolutely could not let Xing Lie trace this suspicion back to him.
Outside in the first-floor corridor, Xing Lie walked slowly with his long legs, his combat boots making heavy thuds against the floor. His pace was unhurried and composed. His gaze swept over every training room, like a surveillance spotlight in the night.
A trace of amusement appeared in his eyes, much like a beast circling its little prey. That feeling of absolute certainty in capturing his prey gave him an inexplicable sense of excitement.
Soon, he slowly made his way up to the second floor. As he stood in the second-floor corridor, a faint, almost imperceptible wisp of pheromone drifted into his nose. It was the pheromone of an Omega in heat.
Xing Lie slightly furrowed his brows, locking his gaze onto Equipment Room (1). Step by step, he walked toward it. The pheromone grew increasingly distinct.
By the time he stood at the door of the equipment room, Xing Lie’s pupils suddenly dilated. This pheromone scent… Snow Mountain Cold Cotton!
In that instant, Xing Lie’s mind fell into chaos.
Countless bizarre thoughts spawned in his mind. But they were all shattered by the fire of lust surging up from his lower abdomen.
Uncontrollably and caught completely off guard, he found himself seduced by this Omega’s pheromones. It was brazenly stirring up his S-grade Alpha pheromones.
Xing Lie dropped to one knee. His bloodshot eyes were filled with sheer disbelief. Veins bulged on his forehead, and his muscles tensed tightly as beads of sweat seeped out. He clenched his hands into fists, doing his utmost to control himself from releasing his Alpha pheromones.
Back when he was only sixteen, You Yuanyuan had trained him to resist countless types of Omega inductive pheromones. He had always been able to control himself with ease.
Later, when he became a bodyguard, during countless missions, numerous Omegas had deliberately released inductive pheromones to seduce him—including the intense pheromones of S-grade Omegas. Yet, he had remained entirely unmoved, even feeling disgusted.
Therefore, he had arrogantly believed that in this world, no Omega’s pheromones could ever seduce him, make him lose control, or stir up his Alpha pheromones.
But now, he was going crazy, he was losing his mind!
Snow Mountain Cold Cotton—this was unmistakably You Yuanyuan’s S-grade Alpha pheromone. Even if he died, he would never forget this scent.
It was pure and clear, yet piercingly freezing.
Xing Lie would forever remember when he was just fifteen, freshly adopted and brought home by You Yuanyuan. You Yuanyuan had unleashed his S-grade Alpha pheromones to give him a brutal show of dominance. At that time, Xing Lie was merely an A-grade Alpha. He simply couldn’t withstand such overpowering pheromones.
It had hurt so much that he wailed on the floor, crying his lungs out. Enveloped by wisps and threads of that freezing, bone-chilling pheromone, he felt suffocated, agonizing pain, and despair.
That was the first time he had experienced the terror of S-grade Alpha pheromones. It was also the first time he realized just how insanely formidable You Yuanyuan was.
Looking across all of Dongcheng, only You Yuanyuan possessed the Snow Mountain Cold Cotton pheromone.
So why did this Omega’s Snow Mountain Cold Cotton pheromone have a compatibility rate of over 95% with him?
What was even stranger was how this Omega’s pheromone was so incredibly similar to You Yuanyuan’s!
This pheromone was crisp, pure, and flawlessly clear, but the freezing, bone-chilling scent had become sweet and icy. Wisps and threads of it caressed his skin, causing shudders to ripple through his body, luring him to sink into a drowning gentleness.
He was losing his rationality!
With bloodshot eyes, Xing Lie fiercely kicked open the heavy iron door, instantly destroying the fingerprint lock.
“Ahhhh!” someone inside the equipment room screamed in terror. But upon smelling the fierce S-grade Alpha pheromones, their body slid down against the wall, going limp.
Xing Lie walked past the rows of storage racks. Reaching the very end, he saw that the Omega lying on the floor, burning up all over, was Duan Xiaoding. Instantly, he sobered up significantly. The uncontrollable tide of lust was entirely swallowed by his flaring anger.
“It’s you?!” Xing Lie’s eyes were filled with tyrannical fury; he looked as ferocious as a wild beast. He grabbed Duan Xiaoding by the collar and hoisted him up like a little chick, his bloodshot eyes staring fixedly at him.
Did You Yuanyuan mark this little Omega?
No, there was no mark.
Xing Lie calmed down a bit. This pheromone scent must be a mixture of You Yuanyuan’s and this little Omega’s pheromones.
Xing Lie reined in all of his Alpha pheromones.
Soon, Duan Xiaoding’s consciousness returned. Opening his eyes and seeing Xing Lie in front of him, his heart immediately began to race uncontrollably. He was captivated by Xing Lie’s dangerously wild and handsome face, experiencing the feeling of a racing, pounding heart for the very first time.
It was a completely different feeling from You Yuanyuan.
“What are you doing here?” Xing Lie’s voice was hoarse and chillingly cold.
With a flushed face, Duan Xiaoding trembled in fear and said, “Y-You Ye asked me to come over and organize the equipment. I-I came in through the back door.”
Xing Lie’s gaze drifted toward the wide-open back door. “You were both here just now?”
Duan Xiaoding: “Y-yes.”
Xing Lie looked back at him, the danger in his eyes even more pronounced: “Just organizing equipment, didn’t do anything else?”
“N-no.” Duan Xiaoding looked at him with a pale little face.
Xing Lie released his grip.
Duan Xiaoding sat huddled against the wall. He swallowed hard, still shaking with fear, yet he couldn’t help but look at that face that made his heart flutter. Compared to You Yuanyuan, he could feel the sexual attraction of an Alpha much more strongly from Xing Lie. He didn’t know why, but even though You Yuanyuan was clearly an Alpha, he gave him the illusion of identical-gender repulsion.
Xing Lie didn’t believe they hadn’t done anything else. Otherwise, why would Duan Xiaoding have the scent of You Yuanyuan’s pheromones on him? A lone Alpha and a lone Omega sharing a room, with their pheromones mingled together—who would believe nothing happened?
“What does You Yuanyuan like about you?” Xing Lie stared at this little Omega.
Duan Xiaoding shook his head in a daze, “I-I don’t know.”
“Then what do you like about You Yuanyuan?” Xing Lie changed the question.
Duan Xiaoding twiddled his fingers, “He is a top-tier Alpha.”
Xing Lie sneered mockingly, “I am a top-tier Alpha too. Why don’t you like me?”
Duan Xiaoding looked at him in sheer astonishment, unable to suppress his anticipation. “C-can I?”
Xing Lie reined in his ferocious exterior, revealing a disguised friendliness, and smiled, “Of course you can. Are you willing to give him up and come to my side?”
These words seemed to carry magic, charming Duan Xiaoding until his head spun. He answered dizzily, “I… will.”
A wicked smile of success curled on Xing Lie’s lips.
Inside the Chairman’s office.
Zhou She took a new, specially made barrier patch out of his briefcase and handed it to You Yuanyuan. He asked, “You Ye, Xing Lie didn’t bump into you when he came up, did he?”
You Yuanyuan had torn off his specially made barrier patch, and although his gland hadn’t released any pheromones on the way here, exposing his gland to the air was still somewhat dangerous. Zhou She couldn’t help but feel a bit of lingering fear.
You Yuanyuan applied the new barrier patch, showing no signs of lingering fear; he was completely unbothered. “I called Duan Xiaoding and told him to go to the equipment room to organize the gear. Even if Xing Lie followed the scent of my pheromones into the equipment room, he would only think it was a mixture of my and Duan Xiaoding’s scents. His sense of smell isn’t as acute as mine.”
Zhou She admired You Yuanyuan’s god-tier maneuver. He said, “As long as Xing Lie believes that Omega’s inductive pheromones aren’t yours, it won’t pose a threat to you. Actually, Xing Lie has never been sensitive to Omega pheromones because you put him through grueling training to resist them. Anyway, I’ve never heard of him being seduced by any Omega’s pheromones.”
You Yuanyuan looked thoughtful, his long eyelashes fluttering slightly. Propping his chin on his jade-white hand, he said, “So that’s how it is. Then, the fact that he’s 25 and still hasn’t marked an Omega—could it be because my brutal training caused him to become desensitized to Omega pheromones? Do you think he resents me for keeping him single for so long?”
Zhou She: “………………”
“You are overthinking it, You Ye. Whether he’s single or not, whether he marks someone or not, is purely his own problem and has nothing to do with you. Besides, the pretty Omegas chasing after him are like the endless, surging waters of the Yellow River. You don’t need to worry about the Yellow River running dry.” Dark lines dropped down Zhou She’s forehead.
You Yuanyuan nodded, breathing a sigh of relief. “That’s good then.”
“You should be worrying about yourself,” Zhou She said earnestly, feeling like a nagging mother hen. “In the past, any Alpha you took a fancy to would be snatched away by him using various methods. He was purely provoking you.”
“Are you saying he’s going to snatch away the little Omega I just recruited now?” You Yuanyuan asked in surprise.
Zhou She nodded solemnly.
You Yuanyuan grew worried, a hint of anxiety appearing in his eyes. A shadow fell over his unearthly, beautifully pristine face as he shook his head. “That won’t do. You went through so much trouble to find me an Omega with pheromones similar to mine; if he snatches him away, I won’t have my cover anymore.”
Zhou She nodded gracefully.
You Yuanyuan made his decision. He declared, “This time, I won’t let him succeed.”
Zhou She gave him a thumbs up. “I support you, You Ye! You are the manliest Omega!”
