Chapter 58: Introducing a Job to Your Younger Brother part 1
The police: “Comrade Zhou Aifeng has no evidence for the time being. She suspects your family has a grudge against her and is taking revenge intentionally.”
“What grudge?”
“Wanting to buy someone’s newly bought TV and fridge for a thousand yuan, and then having a grudge because they won’t sell? Is that it?”
The one speaking was the proprietress, who was cracking sunflower seeds. She was casually mixed in the crowd, acting as an onlooker.
“I say, Auntie Zhou, did you actually have that money? Don’t pull this stunt just to get something for nothing.”
Zhou Aifeng howled, her voice cracking: “How could I not have it? I had it, and he stole it!”
She then clamored for the police to hurry up and take Zhou Yuejun and the other away, and then return her money.
The police were suffering a brain ache from Zhou Aifeng’s nonsense, but they also upheld their mission as public servants, maintaining a proper attitude.
“Elderly lady, we understand your feelings, but everything must be based on evidence.”
“How do I not have—”
Zhou Aifeng glanced at the police, her tear-filled eyes flashing with guilt: “I saw it! He’s the one who stole it!”
Her look clearly showed she was lying.
The police frowned: “Didn’t you say before that it was pitch black, you didn’t have time to turn on the light, and you didn’t see anyone?”
Zhou Aifeng had already made a statement when she reported to the police earlier. Now that she was changing her story, it was clear she wasn’t telling the truth.
“Elderly lady, the words you said before are recorded on file. If it’s found out that you are lying and making false accusations, you will be held responsible.”
Being exposed, Zhou Aifeng became even more panicked, but she remained stubborn: “I saw him! It’s him! Hurry up and arrest him!”
Yu Deng’s head pressed against Zhou Yuejun’s back. He gritted his teeth, really wanting to rush over and tear her apart.
His hands gripped Zhou Yuejun’s clothes: “You say you saw him, but I say he was at home sleeping with me!”
“Then what clothes was he wearing at the time? Which leg was limping?”
The soft tone was not cowardly; instead, it was full of the confidence of an interrogation.
Zhou Aifeng was framing him to begin with, so the words came right out of her mouth: “He was wearing black clothes, and his leg…”
“His leg wasn’t limping!”
“He ran very fast.”
Zhou Aifeng still had some sly thoughts, knowing that Yu Deng was tricking her.
But Yu Deng smiled: “Nonsense. Zhou Yuejun injured his leg at the dance hall last night; he can’t run fast at all. The people at the dance hall can prove this.”
The little antagonist also started lying. He put his hands on his hips and straightened his body, stretching his neck out like a very dignified and noble white swan.
Zhou Yuejun leaned one hand against the wall, shifting his center of gravity to one side as if his leg really was injured.
And because he was wearing long pants, people couldn’t see anything suspicious.
The police, with a serious face, turned to Zhou Aifeng for confirmation again: “Did he really have no problems running?”
How could Zhou Aifeng know this? After hesitating, she chose to play dumb and be evasive.
“He… I’m not sure. I’m old and my eyes are failing me; I couldn’t see clearly.”
With this attitude, the police weren’t stupid; they understood perfectly.
“One moment you can see clearly, the next you can’t. One moment he ran fast, the next he couldn’t run. You’re flipping back and forth between black and white; is there even a single word of truth in your mouth!”
“Confession brings leniency. If you keep this up, we will deal with you strictly!”
Zhou Aifeng was just talking nonsense. As soon as the police got serious, her confidence vanished for the most part. She stammered, only wanting to act pitiful, her mouth howling continuously.
The police lowered their stern brows: “Also, I remember now. You said before that you caught the person and scratched him a couple of times, likely on the neck or upper body.”
“Don’t go saying you remembered that wrong too.”
“Comrade Zhou, is it convenient for us to take a look?”
Zhou Yuejun didn’t shy away and took off his outer shirt, revealing his tank top.
The rock-hard muscles that weren’t obvious when he was wearing clothes now appeared. Once the shirt was off, the hormones were bursting.
When turning around, Zhou Yuejun intentionally slowed down his movements.
The police inspected Zhou Yuejun’s body and found no scratches. Just as they were about to tell Zhou Aifeng that it had nothing to do with Zhou Yuejun, Zhou Aifeng was still relentless.
“He definitely has an accomplice! Yes, he has an accomplice!”
“His accomplice must be someone from the dance hall, and there are people at the construction site too.”
Police: “Whether there’s an accomplice or not, we will continue to investigate. But your money—it can’t be proven that they stole it for now.”
“Let’s go. We’ll go to your house and take another look.”
Zhou Aifeng started shouting again: “I can’t go, I won’t go! It’s him! He… he is a triad member! You still have to arrest him!”
Yu Deng felt heart-stricken by the degree of Zhou Aifeng’s shamelessness; he felt like all the blood in his body was rising to his skull.
He stood on his tiptoes and muttered into Zhou Yuejun’s ear: “Opening her mouth just to bite people randomly, just like a mad dog.”
Zhou Yuejun let out a hum from his nose, looking composed: “Working at a dance hall isn’t illegal.”
Zhou Aifeng’s eyes were about to pop out: “But he hits people!”
Zhou Aifeng gave an exaggerated account of Hu Wei’s matter.
Zhou Yuejun was aloof yet unhurried: “They came to hit me. To avoid being beaten, I just fought back.”
This matter had been spread by onlookers. Upon being questioned by the police, one of them peeked at the police, then glanced at Zhou Yuejun, and truthfully recounted the beginning and end of the matter.
“It was indeed that group of people who started it.”
Zeng Hui had taken the person to a secluded alley to beat them, so naturally, no one had seen that.
Now the police understood; it truly couldn’t be considered Zhou Yuejun’s fault.
The proprietress added a couple of words from the side: “Auntie Zhou, everyone around here knows you wanted to buy their appliances for a thousand yuan. They say wealth shouldn’t be exposed; once people know, thieves will surely take note.”
Police: “Alright—”
“No!”
“My money being stolen is like taking my life! Today, he either compensates me with money or gives me the appliances. Otherwise, I… I’ll kill myself by ramming my head into his door!”
After saying that, Zhou Aifeng actually made a move as if she were going to ram her head against the wall, but she was blocked by someone.
Zhou Yuejun’s eyes were dark and extremely cold: “Die however you want. It has nothing to do with us.”
With that, he closed the door.
Before the door closed, Yu Deng shouted arrogantly: “His leg isn’t injured at all! He was tricking you! Evil old woman, not a word of truth in your mouth.”
Once the door was closed, the sound became smaller, but Zhou Aifeng’s half-dead voice was still very clear.
Yu Deng was in a great mood and no longer sleepy. Standing on his tiptoes, he twisted his body light-heartedly and sat on the sofa.
“Served her right!”
“Wicked old woman!”
Although “hitting someone when they’re down” wasn’t a good phrase, Yu Deng wanted to do just that.
“This is called ‘the wicked being tormented by the wicked,’ ‘stealing a chicken only to lose the rice,’ and ‘reaping what one sows.'”
Zhou Yuejun went to the kitchen to pour some water from a bottle. Seeing Yu Deng’s smugness, he couldn’t restrain the corners of his mouth.
He walked over, patted Yu Deng’s plump and fleshy bottom, and chuckled teasingly: “Is your tail wagging again?”
He even rubbed the back of his hand against Yu Deng’s face, which looked soft and waxy.
“Are you still angry?”
Yu Deng had been annoyed all day. His pretty and delicate face was held high, his expression exceptionally arrogant and a bit overbearing.
He was very attractive.
“Hehe.” He laughed light-heartedly again.
Yu Deng took a sip of the water Zhou Yuejun handed him.
His lips, which were a bit dry before, became bright red after being moistened by the water. They were full of flesh, looking sexy. With just one glance, Zhou Yuejun felt thirsty.
Heat surged throughout his body.
Yu Deng’s mouth was small, and his tongue was pink and soft. Between the tender buds, there was a fragrance.
