Zerg: Gloomy Major General, Stop Acting Obedient, My Head Hurts! Chapter 29

Chapter 29: Started Telemarketing

As Fei entered his office door, he turned and cast a glance at the two of them. The two bugs shrunk their necks and kept their mouths shut tight, their faces plastered with guilt.

He casually tossed the documents in his hand onto the desk, turned to look at Parker and Kenan, and wore a grave expression:

“Regarding everything Admiral Lan said during the meeting—what are your thoughts? If you have any objections, you can bring them up with me right now.

It’s just the three of us here; there’s no need for you to hold anything back.”

This matter was extremely thorny. They had absolutely no idea what kind of enemy bugs they would be facing.

It was no exaggeration to say they could lose their lives at any moment.

“No, Major General, what do you mean by that? If you’re going, how could we not follow? What objections could we have? None. Wherever you go, I go.” Parker turned to shoot a glance at Kenan:

“At least, that’s what I think. As for any other bugs, I can’t speak for them.”

“Tsk,” Kenan frowned, looking visibly annoyed. “Are you even speaking bug language? Even if you didn’t go, I would still follow the Major General.”

“Who knows what you’re thinking? Hmph, maybe you’re thinking about some Xiongchong and don’t want to go.”

“Bullshit!” Kenan was genuinely furious now. “Which of your eyes saw me thinking about a Xiongchong?”

“Don’t think I didn’t see.” Parker spoke with such absolute certainty that a bug who didn’t know the full story might actually believe him.

However, whether or not he was thinking of a Xiongchong was something the bug in question naturally knew best. “You…”

Seeing that Parker and Kenan were about to come to blows, Fei rubbed his temples to ease his headache, watching as the topic drifted further and further away:

“You two, shut up!”

“Major General, I have no problem going. Don’t even think about leaving me behind.” Kenan glared fiercely at Parker, then turned and spoke anxiously to Fei, “And I wasn’t thinking about a Xiongchong either.”

Furthermore, Kenan’s eyes flickered; he didn’t want to think any further on the matter.

“Major General, I have no problem either. I’m a solitary bug anyway; I can go wherever I please. Being able to do something for our military district, even if I die, I would consider it an honor.”

Parker’s life as a bug was very simple. Although he despised Xiongchong, defending the Zerg race was the most important thing in his entire life.

To die for the entire Zerg race—he would have no regrets!

He didn’t need a family, and he didn’t need a Xiongchong. Having comrades-in-arms was enough.

“Don’t talk nonsense. You are my important subordinates, but you are also my most important partners.” Fei raised a hand and smacked Parker hard on the head. “We will be heading to the Western Battlefield very soon. Take advantage of these next two days to…”

Fei paused. His tone was uncharacteristically gentle as he carefully looked over the two Cichong. “To properly settle your personal affairs.”

Although he didn’t want to make it sound so tragic, they really might not come back. They had to at least leave some final words or instructions for the bugs close to them.

Indeed.

Fei inexplicably recalled the scene of himself crying last night, and the tips of his ears flushed red for no reason.

How humiliating!

“? Major General?” Parker waved a hand in front of Fei’s face. “Don’t worry. You’ll have the two of us accompanying you along the way.

Wait, no, there’s also that idiot Morgan.

All together, that makes six of us bugs. It’ll be fine. Since we’re a small group, we won’t draw much attention. We just need to be a little careful with everything.”

Fei never expected the day would come when he would be comforted by Parker. He suddenly felt a sense of relief, accompanied by the feeling that the guy had finally grown up.

“What’s with those looks you two are giving me?” Parker stared speechlessly at Fei and Kenan, both of whom were looking at him with indescribable expressions on their faces.

Kenan patted Parker’s shoulder and said in an extremely solemn tone, “I’m very gratified to see that you’ve finally grown up.

You know how to comfort other bugs now. Not bad.”

“…” Parker irritably shoved the hand off his shoulder. “Do you even know how to speak? Just shut up.”

“Major General, what about you?” Kenan didn’t bicker with him, but instead turned to ask Fei, “Your Xiongzhu…”

Major General Fei was different from them. He was a married bug, which meant he couldn’t entirely dictate his own freedom.

“He agreed.” Fei’s calm voice dropped a bombshell.

“? What?” Parker couldn’t quite believe it. They had only just learned about this matter themselves; when and how had that Xiongchong agreed to it?

His eyes darted to Fei’s wrist. Had he contacted him while they weren’t paying attention?

“You knew about this beforehand?” Kenan looked at Fei in shock.

Fei gave a slight nod. “I ran into Admiral Lan last night.”

“?” Kenan knew where Fei lived, and he knew where Admiral Lan lived. How could they possibly cross paths?

Seeing his confusion, Fei explained, “We ran into each other at a banquet.”

“A banquet?” Kenan suddenly realized. “Oh.”

Right, he remembered that the Xiongchong Fei had married held a very high status.

“He agreed to let you go?” Parker was astonished. “He didn’t make things difficult for you?”

Without waiting for Fei to answer, Kenan beside him was displeased. “What do you mean by that? Major General Fei’s Xiongzhu treats him well—is that a bad thing?”

“You bug,” Parker said irritably. “Did I say it was bad? I just think that since he agreed so easily, Major General Fei must have exchanged something even more important for it.”

Suddenly, he was amused by his own words. “Of course. Xiongchong never cared about our lives to begin with.”

It wasn’t them who were going to die. As long as it didn’t interfere with their wining and dining, why would they disagree?

The money earned would even go straight into their pockets.

“Don’t be like that.” Kenan looked a bit pained seeing his expression. “Not all Xiongchong are…”

He suddenly snapped his mouth shut, looking at Parker with concern.

“Why are you looking at me?” Parker knew exactly who he was talking about. “That matter has long since been a closed chapter for me. There’s no need for you to feel bad on my behalf.”

Fei sighed. “Alright, enough about this. If there’s nothing else, you’re dismissed. We’ll assemble at the military district the day after tomorrow.”

The higher-ups had already issued their orders, leaving them only a single day to prepare.

He looked at Parker and Kenan and said seriously, “If anything comes up during this time, contact me immediately. This includes if you decide to change your minds.”

“Understood.”

Watching the two bugs leave, Fei stood frozen in place for a moment before finally starting to head out.

He never thought there would come a day when he would suddenly feel uncertain about the things he was doing.

Fei realized that lately, he found himself unconsciously thinking of Jiang Xu quite often.

Was it because the other was too indulgent with him? Or was it…

Something else?

When he returned home, it was very quiet downstairs. If it weren’t for the Xiongchong’s shoes sitting by the door, he might have assumed the other was still at the commercial center.

He was back.

Fei recalled that every time he came home in the past, Jiang Xu would be walking out of the study.

After hesitating for a moment, he headed up to the second floor.

That afternoon, Jiang Xu had contacted many small and micro-business owners, explaining his ideas to those Cichong one by one.

The majority of them, however, harbored doubts about what he was proposing.

Because no bug in the Zerg race had ever done such a thing before.

He was afraid that when the time came, not only would the customers not buy into it, but the merchants wouldn’t either.

He buried his head, looking at the dense list of small business contacts in his hand, and crossed out the merchant from the call he had just finished.

Knock knock~ The study door suddenly sounded.

“Xiongzhu, are you there?”

Fei’s voice came from outside the door.
