Chapter 25: Is He Your Dog? Part 1
The one who struck first wasn’t Chu Yang. Since Lin Zhiheng was hardly the type to stand still and take a beating, he immediately seized the intruder’s wrist and twisted it with enough force to snap a bone.
The opponent was resilient; despite his face contorting in pain, he instantly threw a kick that forced Lin Zhiheng to retreat.
“Enough,” Chu Yang interjected suddenly. He reached out and flipped the switch, flooding the room with light. He had closed his eyes beforehand, but the other two squinted uncomfortably at the sudden brightness.
The moment the fight broke out, Chu Yang realized the newcomer was Ke Yuan. He had heard Ke Yuanâs voice from the balcony earlier.
It made sense; Ke Yuanâs dormitory was directly opposite theirs. Chu Yang had even thrown a face towel at him from across the way before.
However, he didnât know exactly how much Ke Yuan had seen.
Chu Yang closed the locker door and looked at Ke Yuan. “What are you doing here?”
He remembered that Ke Yuan had seemed quite unhappy during the ball game and dinner tonight.
Ke Yuan stammered for a moment, caught off guard by the question. “I… I saw him bullying you…”
He had rushed over in a blind panic, and despite it being winter, he was drenched in sweat from running so fast he couldn’t even wait for the elevator.
Earlier, Ke Yuan had been out on his balcony in a foul mood because he thought Chu Yang might have a girlfriend. Staring at the dark room across the way, he knew Chu Yang had returned and assumed he was already asleep.
The man was certainly thick-skinned; while so many people were losing sleep over him tonight, he was tucked in and dreaming.
After a long while, a faint, flickering light appeared. Ke Yuan immediately perked up. He knew it was Chu Yang; if anyone else had returned, they would have just flipped the main switch rather than using a small nightlightâespecially since it wasn’t even the middle of the night.
He thought Chu Yang was just getting up to use the restroom, but after waiting a while, no one emerged. Was he just sitting up to play on his phone?
A few minutes later, he noticed the faint light flickering erratically. Then, someone opened the balcony door and stepped out. Based on the silhouette and stature, he knew instantly it was Chu Yang.
Chu Yang ran into the bathroom, followed closely by another figure. Ke Yuan didnât recognize who it wasâthe other three in Chu Yangâs dorm looked more or less the same to himâbut by the dim light, he felt the person was acting strange, like someone possessed, banging his head against the bathroom door.
At the time, Ke Yuan thought the guy had just made Chu Yang angry, thinking cynically: Making someone kowtow just to appease your anger? How pampered can you get?
Before he could realize something was wrong, that “straight” brute forced a kiss on Chu Yang. Even though Chu Yang slapped him immediately, Ke Yuan was already consumed by an uncontrollable rage. If it weren’t for the balcony railings, he probably would have tried to fly across.
But now, Chu Yangâs cold questionâ”What are you doing here?”âwas like a handful of snow dropped on his head, instantly cooling his fire.
“Thank you, but I can handle this myself.” To be honest, Chu Yang was feeling a bit… weary of men right now, especially when faced with the fervent intensity in Ke Yuanâs eyes.
He massaged his temples. “Go back. I can resolve this on my own.”
He hadn’t decided how to resolve it yet, but it would likely involve either Lin Zhiheng leaving or himself moving out. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare sleep with such a person around. If Lin Zhiheng was thick-skinned enough to try something after being hit so many times, there was no telling what else he might do.
Ke Yuan stared at Chu Yang for a moment before gritting his teeth. “I won’t tell anyone. Iâll keep watch for you outside the door.”
He turned and left.
Chu Yang didnât give Lin Zhiheng so much as a glance. He moved to reopen the locker to change his clothes and head out, but Lin Zhiheng stepped in front of him. The man was so tall that his head nearly brushed the top of the balcony doorframe, leaving Chu Yang with no room to maneuver around him.
Chu Yang looked up at him, his gaze icy. “What are you doing? Heâs still right outside.”
Lin Zhihengâs expression darkened as well. “Heâs no match for me.”
“Is he your dog? Is he guarding the door for us?”
“He likes you too. Can’t you see that? If you go with him, heâll definitelyâ”
Slap!
Lin Zhihengâs head jerked to the side from the force of the strike. This time, Chu Yang had used his left hand, hitting his left cheek. Now they were symmetrical.
Chu Yang’s face was like frost. “Shut your mouth.”
“If you’re leaving, why haven’t you gotten the hell out yet?!”
He wanted to throw the clothes in his hand at Lin Zhihengâs face, but who knew if this pervert would actually enjoy it!
Lin Zhihengâs thick Adam’s apple bobbed several times. Under the bright lights, the other’s expression was even clearer. Chu Yang looked stunning when he was angryâand even more alluring.
Every nerve in Lin Zhihengâs body was screaming for him to lean back in and kiss him harder, but the frost in Chu Yangâs eyes acted like a bucket of cold water, keeping him somewhat grounded.
After a moment of thought, Lin Zhiheng walked to the desk, grabbed a mask, and put it on before heading out. He didnât show any emotion when he saw Ke Yuan standing in the hallway.
Ke Yuan, however, immediately lunged back into the dorm the second Lin Zhiheng left. Chu Yang had already put the clothes back in the locker. Seeing him enter, he asked in confusion, “Is there something else?”
Ke Yuan stammered, “No… are you hurt? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
Chu Yang was momentarily amused by his frantic concern. Did Ke Yuan think Lin Zhiheng had beaten him? That didn’t seem likely…
“Iâm fine. Iâm just tired and want to rest.”
It was a clear hint for him to leave, but Ke Yuan didn’t take it. He pulled over a chair and sat down next to Chu Yang. “You rest. Iâm worried. Iâll stay here and watch over you.”
Ke Yuan wanted to suggest that Chu Yang move into his dorm, but the other three in Chu Yangâs room were all trouble, and all of them were clearly interested in him. But then he thought about his own roommates… never mind…
“…” Chu Yang remained silent. His mind was a mess, especially since Ke Yuanâs insistence on staying reminded him of Lin Zhihengâs comment about Ke Yuan liking him too…
Though he didn’t believe it, the seed of doubt had been planted. He was becoming a bit paranoid.
Neither of them spoke or looked at their phones. Chu Yang went back into the bathroom to take another shower, and Ke Yuan didn’t leave until Xie An and Si Yao returned.
Chu Yang said, “Thanks. I’ll treat you to dinner next time.”
Ke Yuan managed a small smile. “Make sure you don’t forget. I’m going now. Get some sleep.”
“Okay.” Chu Yang smiled back, but he didn’t fully relax.
Xie An and Si Yao immediately asked what happened. He shook his head and said it was nothing before climbing into bed. However, he didn’t actually sleep; he stayed on his phone until the lights were out.
It was a restless night. Aside from not sleeping deeply, Chu Yang kept feeling like someone was standing by his bed watching him, causing him to wake up multiple times.
Xie An asked if he was having nightmares.
Fortunately, the next dayâs classes weren’t important and didn’t require much mental effort. Just as Chu Yang was considering going home to stay for a few days, Zhou Ningyu called.
Zhou Ningyu: “Class is over, right? What are you doing? Should I come pick you up now?”
Chu Yang: “Yeah, I’m free. I’m at the dorm. Let me know when you’re almost here and I’ll head out.”
Zhou Ningyu: “Alright. Come out in ten minutes.”
Chu Yang: “Okay.”
