Chapter 31: Getting a Room
The system remained silent, and Pei Xilin didn’t speak either, staring fixedly at Chu Yang.
Tsk, he looks even more like a dog now.
“Can you still walk?” Chu Yang was still somewhat puzzled as to why he had been called to save Pei Xilin. Knowing this wasn’t a place for lingering, he didn’t waste words and simply extended his hand.
It was the same gesture for the second time. In Pei Xilin’s mind, he was just as wretched as before. The first time was in a dark crate, and this time was in a restroomâneither were particularly pleasant locations.
The only saving grace was that on both occasions, Chu Yang seemed to carry a light of his own. Pei Xilin couldn’t tell if it was a hallucination or if Chu Yang was simply so fair that even the darkness had to yield to him.
Pei Xilin swayed the moment he stood up. Chu Yang hurried to steady him, nearly being dragged down by the man’s weight. It was only then that he realized Pei Xilin’s body temperature was unnaturally high.
Pei Xilin leaned against him, finally unable to hold his breath as he began to pant heavily. Each ragged exhale puffed against the tip of Chu Yangâs ear. Within seconds, Chu Yangâs entire ear turned redâit felt both hot and strange.
After enduring it for a moment, he couldn’t take it anymore. He reached up and shoved Pei Xilinâs head away. “You’re panting like a dog! Stop messing with my ear.”
Pei Xilin buried his face back into Chu Yangâs shoulder, his sharp nose poking against him. Chu Yang shot him another look but ultimately didn’t push him to the ground.
He’s dead weight.
As Chu Yang supported him toward the elevator, the server’s jaw dropped at the sight of Pei Xilin.
Chu Yang looked up at her. “Could you please press the elevator button for me? I need to get a room on the first floor.”
The server swallowed hard. Pei Xilin was clearly drugged; his heavy breathing and the unnatural flush of his face and ears gave it away. His large hands gripped the hem of Chu Yangâs shirt so tightly that the veins on the back of his hands bulged. It looked somewhat terrifying.
Heading to get a room in this state… no matter how one looked at it, it seemed like that kind of room. The server immediately pressed the down button and reached out to help support Pei Xilin. However, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, Pei Xilin dodged her abruptly. In his state, he had overestimated his physical control.
The sudden movement left him without support; his body tilted, and with a loud thud, he slammed against the elevator wall.
“…” Chu Yang hauled him back by his collar. His slender fingers were tensed with effort; it was clear he was using significant strength. “So stupid.”
“Stand straight,” he snapped at Pei Xilin before pressing the button for the first floor.
The scent of alcohol on Pei Xilin wasn’t strong, but his weight was certainly no joke. Chu Yang considered leaving him in the lobby waiting area while he went to the front desk alone, but Pei Xilin immediately stood up to follow the moment he tried to set him down.
His mind was too muddled to process anything; he only knew he had to follow the person in front of him.
Under the double effects of the sedative and the aphrodisiac, his body felt split in twoâone half was lucid and wired, while the other made his limbs feel like lead.
Chu Yang gave up and walked straight to the front desk. Because he was occupied with the man, he didn’t notice a figure standing outside the hotel entrance who immediately started walking toward them upon seeing him.
Checking in required an ID. Chu Yang had nothing on him but his phone. He turned to Pei Xilin. “Whereâs your wallet?”
Pei Xilin could no longer respond to his words. If he hadn’t recognized that they were in a public place, he would have lunged forward long ago.
Chu Yang let out a tsk at his state and started patting him down. There was nothing in Pei Xilin’s jacket pockets. He reached lower; the suit trousers were thin, and he inevitably brushed against Pei Xilin’s leg.
The moment his fingertips grazed him, Pei Xilin’s reaction became even more violent.
The veins on Chu Yangâs forehead throbbed. He really wanted to just punch him right there. After finally fishing out the wallet and handing over the ID, his other hand was suddenly seized.
“You’re getting a room with a man?” a voice laced with frost echoed through the hotel lobby.
Everyone froze except for Chu Yang and Pei Xilinâincluding Si Yao, who had just come running in behind the speaker.
What was even more unexpected was that the moment Chu Yang realized who was speaking, he raised his hand and delivered a sharp slap to Lin Zhihengâs face.
The slap rang out with a clear echo.
Without any intention of talking to Lin Zhiheng, he turned back to the receptionist. “Iâd like a room with a king-sized bed, please. On a higher floor.”
“..O-okay.”
The receptionist’s hands trembled as her eyes lit up. She hadn’t expected someone so beautiful to have such a spicy personality. He didn’t seem the least bit afraid of being caught in the act. She just couldn’t tell if the man who interrupted was an ex or a current boyfriend…
Working in a hotel really did allow one to see the most explosive drama.
Chu Yang shifted his body slightly, and Pei Xilin suddenly pressed closer, grabbing Chu Yangâs arm and sliding his hand down to his palm. He squeezed it and even brought it to his lips to blow on it.
“…” Chu Yang snatched his hand back. Now there was truly no way to explain this.
However, it only took him a second to adjust his mindset. He didn’t care about being misunderstood, nor did he care what others thought.
Si Yao stood dazed in front of Chu Yang, looking from him to Pei Xilin. His expression was blank; the series of events had completely short-circuited his explosive temper.
It was only then that Chu Yang noticed him. His brows knitted, and his tone turned cold and hard. “Are you stalking me too?”
Si Yao flinched at his tone. “No! I saw Lin Zhiheng following you and was worried heâd pick a fight, so I followed him.”
The atmosphere in the dorm had been stifling lately. Both rivals had noticed Lin Zhiheng’s subtle attempts to please Chu Yang, but Chu Yang completely ignored them, oblivious to it all.
They had all guessed there was friction between Lin Zhiheng and Chu Yang, but Si Yao was still stunned to see Chu Yang slap the man so effortlessly… it was… extremely practiced.
Si Yao realized then that it probably wasn’t the first time Chu Yang had hit Lin Zhiheng. Recalling Lin Zhihengâs previous appearance, it all clicked.
But seeing Chu Yang taking someone to get a room, his eyes widened as he pointed at Pei Xilin. “Who is he?”
“A friend. Iâm fine, thank you. Go back now.” Chu Yang didn’t want to say more. He took the key card from the receptionist and tugged on Pei Xilin to leave.
Si Yao followed. “Iâll help you take him up and then wait to leave with you.”
He could also see that Pei Xilin was in an abnormal state.
At that moment, Lin Zhiheng actually tried to follow them. Chu Yang pressed the elevator button and said to Si Yao, “Iâm not going back tonight.”
Si Yao: “??? You’re not actually getting a room with this guy, are you?”
“Don’t you dislike men? Did he trick you? Letâs call the police.” His mind was in a whirl. Even though it was obvious Pei Xilin was the one who wasn’t lucid, he still felt Chu Yang was being deceived.
Exasperated, Chu Yang pushed Pei Xilin into the elevator. After stepping in himself, he blocked the other two from entering.
Pointing at Lin Zhiheng, he said to Si Yao, “Iâm perfectly lucid. There’s no need to call the police, but if you really want to help, you can have him arrested. Thanks.”
With that, he patted Si Yaoâs shoulder, his wrist sliding down to the man’s arm. Si Yao felt a jolt like an electric current and stood there frozen, completely forgetting to react. This was the first time Chu Yang had ever initiated physical contact with him.
The sensation was a tingling numbness that spread through his whole body.
Lin Zhiheng wasn’t like the idiot Si Yao, who could be fooled by a single gestureâespecially since Chu Yang wasn’t trying to coax him.
However, he couldn’t take a single step closer either. Chu Yang turned to him, his expression cold. Even through his glasses, the sharpness in his gaze was unmistakable. “If you really want to follow, I don’t mind having a fight with you in the room.”
Lin Zhiheng almost wanted to laugh. He wanted to ask if Chu Yang knew that inviting someone into a room for a “fight” could have another meaning. His face was still burning, and a smirk was just starting to pull at the corner of his mouth when he heard Chu Yang continueâ
“I promise I will leave you crippled.” The voice was deathly cold. Chu Yang glanced at Lin Zhihengâs crotch before averting his eyes in disgust.
Lin Zhiheng felt a chill run through his body, yet he continued to stare at Chu Yang with obsession.
Even if Chu Yangâs gaze made him feel like he was freezing, that cold little face remained exquisitely beautiful.
Even though he was taller than Chu Yang, he was in a posture of looking up, while Chu Yang looked down on him from above like a serpent, watching him intently as if ready to strike at any moment.
But the Chu Yang he could see was growing smaller and more blurred, as if the man were drifting further away. His eyes strained to catch that silhouette.
Then, Chu Yang vanished from his sight entirely. Lin Zhiheng swayed, only then realizing that the elevator doors had closed at some point. He lunged forward to press the button again, but the elevator was already ascending.
Lin Zhiheng let out a sinister chuckle as everything clicked into place. Chu Yang had been maintaining eye contact just to distract him while he pressed the floor button and closed the doors.
He was a fool toyed with by Chu Yang, completely captivated by a beautiful face and failing to notice the man’s actions. He was a complete moron.
Swipe the card, enter the room. Open the door, close the door.
The moment the door shut, a tall shadow loomed over him. Pei Xilin pressed close, almost face-to-face with Chu Yang, his voice raspy. “Don’t look at him. Don’t go with him.”
Great, he’s still not lucid.
Chu Yang frowned and gave him a shove, but the man didn’t budge.
Pei Xilin reached for his hand again, his breathing as heavy as a beast’s. Chu Yang immediately brought his knee up. “Go shower. You stink.”
He had been radiating heat and sweating non-stop.
Pei Xilin paused but still tried to get closer. This time, Chu Yang didn’t hold back. He grabbed the man and shoved him into the bathroom, snapping the shower on. As the water poured over him, Pei Xilin regained a shred of clarity.
The room was largeâhigh floor, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a beautiful night view. The bathroom was also spacious, complete with a bathtub.
Chu Yang pointed at it. “Get in. Soak yourself. If… actually, don’t call me for anything.”
He turned and walked out. He didn’t think Pei Xilin looked like he had a serious problem; since the man knew to hide in the restroom, he should be able to control himself.
Yet, the system wouldn’t have tricked him into coming here for no reason.
Pei Xilin could indeed control himself for the time being. Those people hadn’t just intended to use a person to tie him down; they had also arranged for photographers. Whether Pei Xilin turned violent or lost his composure, the stock price would plummet once the report came out.
He stood under the spray for a while until his chaotic mind cleared. Water ran from his head down over his expensive suit, but he remained tensed below.
After a long while, he turned on the faucet for the bathtub, yet remained standing under the shower.
Halfway through, he even cracked the door open to see if Chu Yang had left.
Chu Yang was sitting in the living area making a phone call. When he saw Pei Xilin peek out, he glared at him, causing the man to immediately shrink back.
The system watched with glee; it felt like watching a henpecked husband.
Once the tub was full, Pei Xilin stripped and submerged himself. It was quietâbarely any sound of waterâyet he was definitely moving.
He left the door ajar, straining his ears to listen to Chu Yangâs movements outside.
He heard Chu Yang telling the front desk to have the two men downstairs removed, and then he heard him ordering food.
After the call ended, Pei Xilin could still hear Chu Yang talking. It was his inner thoughts, wondering if Pei Xilin had fainted in the bathroom or something.
