Chapter 107: Give Me a Bite
The next day, early in the morning, Ye Ran was packed with an inexplicable drive as he intended to lead Chi Yuheng into outdoor activities.
Ye Ran pushed Chi Yuheng out of the ward. “Let’s go, let’s go. Let’s go out for a walk.”
Being pushed, Chi Yuheng, whose arm was still wrapped up like a club, spoke up, “Didn’t the doctor say I should rest more?”
Ye Ran: “The doctor also said you should breathe more fresh air.”
Chi Yuheng looked at his arm. “But I’m still a patient.”
Ye Ran: “It’s your arm that’s injured, not your legs. It won’t get in the way.”
Chi Yuheng didn’t understand why Ye Ran was so persistent about making him go out for a walk. However, since all the necessary examinations were finished and there was nothing else to do in the ward, going out wasn’t out of the question.
Thus, after the doctor finished the morning rounds, the two were absent from the ward for the entire morning.
Initially, they just walked downstairs. Later, Ye Ran thought the distance was too short and moved to a slightly further small garden. Finally, they simply went to the sports field at the outermost edge of the hospital.
The two circled around and around. If Chi Yuheng’s hand hadn’t been injured, Ye Ran would have likely dragged him into playing two rounds of basketball.
The terrifying part was that Ye Ran found this man’s stamina to be ridiculously good.
He was already half-dead from exhaustion, yet Chi Yuheng looked as if nothing had happened.
He himself was walking until sweat broke out on his brow and he was panting, yet Chi Yuheng’s expression remained composed, without even a bit of thin sweat on his back. He even had the energy left over to observe the surroundings.
“The scenery over there is nice. Let’s go take a look over there.”
Ye Ran gritted his teeth and pushed through, a streak of refusal to admit defeat held in his heart.
He didn’t believe he couldn’t exhaust Chi Yuheng’s energy!
He took a breath and stayed with Chi Yuheng for most of the day, only dragging his aching and swollen legs back for lunch at noon.
After resting for less than two hours, in the afternoon, Ye Ran seemed to have been revived as he pushed Chi Yuheng out of the door again.
It wasn’t until evening that Chi Yuheng brought the nearly exhausted Ye Ran back to the ward.
After walking for a whole day, Ye Ran’s calf muscles were cramping. Every step felt like he was stepping on cotton. He basically dragged both legs through the door.
Returning to the ward, Ye Ran couldn’t even distinguish between the hospital bed and the sofa. He dove headfirst onto it, his two long legs still dangling and swaying off the edge of the bed.
His eyelids were as heavy as lead. He mumbled incoherently, “Chi Yuheng… what kind of species are you… so hard to ‘walk’…”
Chi Yuheng: “…”
Was he walking him like a dog?
But who was walking whom right now?
Chi Yuheng curled his lips helplessly and stood up to pour a glass of warm water with one hand.
When he turned around, someone’s mumbling was gone, replaced by the sound of rhythmic breathing.
He fell asleep truly fast.
Setting down the water, he went over to take off Ye Ran’s shoes, moved his dangling legs onto the bed, and pulled a thin quilt over to cover him.
If Chi Yuheng didn’t have a fitness habit, with Ye Ran sleeping like a pig, he truly might not have been able to move him with one hand.
When it was time for the dressing change, the nurse entered the ward with a tray and instantly saw a ridiculous scene.
the one who wasn’t injured was lying sprawled on the bed, snoring away. The one with an injury was sitting on the sofa, a laptop computer on his lap as he tapped on the keys with one hand.
The young nurse was stunned. “…Just which one is the patient?”
Chi Yuheng looked up upon hearing the sound. Seeing it was the nurse for the dressing change, he immediately placed his index finger vertically in front of his lips in a hushing gesture.
The young nurse understood immediately. She cooperated by lightening her movements, walking over gently to change Chi Yuheng’s dressing.
After the dressing change, Ye Ran only rolled over. He was sleeping so soundly that he showed no intention of waking up. It looked like he could sleep until dawn.
The young nurse couldn’t help but ask, “Aren’t you going to sleep on the bed tonight?”
Chi Yuheng turned his head to look at the person still soundly asleep, his eyes full of doting. “The sofa is quite spacious; I’ll sleep on the sofa.”
Putting away the supplies on the tray, the nurse could only instruct, “Alright. Then be careful while sleeping; don’t press on the wound when you roll over.”
Chi Yuheng nodded.
The young nurse took her things and walked out quietly. Before leaving the door, she glanced back at this scene once more. Only after exiting the ward did she sigh with emotion.
“It’s truly so doting!”
“If only I had a boyfriend like that…”
Chi Yuheng finished handling the work matters quite late. The Ye Ran on the bed had also slept for several hours. His head burrowed into the pillow. “Chi Yuheng… give me a bite…”
Chi Yuheng: “???”
He closed the computer, walked gently to the bedside, and quietly took a chair to sit. He leaned over to gaze at the Ye Ran who was still in a dream.
The eyes were closed, the long lashes casting a shadow on the eyelids. He had been fed very well by Chi Yuheng recently; his face had a bit more meat, soft and looking as if one couldn’t help but want to pinch it.
Ye Ran was still immersed in his dream. He smacked his lips. “Just one bite…”
Chi Yuheng’s voice was extremely soft. “What do you want to eat?”
Ye Ran didn’t respond. His hand unconsciously reached out to the side, and he happened to touch Chi Yuheng’s hand resting on the edge of the bed. As if he had found his target, he pulled Chi Yuheng’s hand to his mouth.
He opened his mouth, revealing slightly pointed little canine teeth.
Chi Yuheng urgently pulled his hand back. Ye Ran, as if his favorite thing had been snatched away, pulled back with all his might.
The two of them pulled back and forth by the bed.
Chi Yuheng didn’t know what kind of dream Ye Ran was having. He estimated that his ‘foodie’ attribute had exploded and he was treating his fingers as a fragrant and soft small cake or a lollipop or something.
Ye Ran couldn’t win the tug-of-war. He sniffled in his dream. “Why so stingy… not giving even one bite…”
Looking at Ye Ran’s appearance, a certain person curled his lips into a mischievous smile. “Baby, call me ‘Husband’ and I’ll give it to you.”
Ever since they had been together, Chi Yuheng hadn’t heard Ye Ran call him ‘Husband’ properly once.
He hadn’t heard it improperly either.
The only thing he knew about was the password for the tracking software. To coax him, Ye Ran had included the word ‘Husband’ when setting it. At the time of setting it, he had input it via text in front of him; it had never been spoken.
A person often grows more anxious for the things they most want to hear yet cannot hear.
Chi Yuheng didn’t even forget to entice him into calling him ‘Husband’ even while Ye Ran was dreaming.
Ye Ran’s fingertips pinched the quilt again. His mouth pouted; even in his dream, his expression could still be seen.
Very unhappy.
If you’re going to give it, give it. If not, then don’t. There were actually conditions.
Thus, what Chi Yuheng saw was Ye Ran, with his eyes closed, slowly letting out two words from his mouth. “Disgusting.”
Chi Yuheng was stunned, almost thinking he had heard wrongly.
He leaned forward, moving closer to Ye Ran, and asked in a low voice, “What did you just say?”
The words spoken in sleep weren’t very clear, yet Chi Yuheng could still hear the few words Ye Ran said to him when he spoke again.
“Husband… disgusting.”
