Chapter 108: Faint Bite Marks
Ye Ran was actually calling him disgusting even in his dreams.
This completely left Chi Yuheng at a loss.
He pondered for a long while; even the most difficult company matters always had a solution, but for this matter, he hadn’t the slightest clue.
Ye Ran felt he was disgusting—where exactly did the source of that lie?
In the moment Chi Yuheng was deep in thought, Ye Ran unexpectedly bit down on his finger. His warm lips first enveloped the pad of the finger, and Chi Yuheng could clearly feel the delicate sensation of a tongue gliding across his skin.
Ye Ran bit down slowly and deliberately, moving from the pad to the tip, then used his teeth to lightly nip the fingertip and tug downward. The force carried a bit of stubbornness, like a puppy’s.
When Ye Ran let go, a ring of faint bite marks remained on Chi Yuheng’s fingertip.
The person still asleep seemed unsatisfied, yet also seemed to no longer want it.
He murmured under his breath, “This pig trotter isn’t good to gnaw on at all…”
Chi Yuheng looked down at his finger, which still bore the bite marks.
A pig trotter?
Chi Yuheng: “…”
Can I beat this person awake right now?
Early the next morning, Ye Ran was awakened by hunger.
Having walked outside for a whole day yesterday, he had been exhausted upon returning and fell straight asleep without even eating.
Opening his eyes, he met the plain white ceiling above. He was covered by a white quilt and sleeping on a single bed.
Ye Ran couldn’t react for a moment.
Where the hell had he been taken?
Ye Ran sat up from the bed, his eyes scanning the surroundings before his memory finally returned.
He was in the hospital. He had taken Chi Yuheng out for a “walk” yesterday, fell asleep from exhaustion afterward, and that was that.
He felt the bed beneath him. So he was the one sleeping in the hospital bed—where had the person who was supposed to be here gone?
Ye Ran immediately hopped down from the bed and searched the ward. Finally, he saw a slumped figure on the sofa.
Chi Yuheng was covered by a coat. Because of the initial angle, Ye Ran hadn’t seen him and thought it was just a coat left on the sofa.
Ye Ran checked the time. The hospital would likely be doing rounds soon, so he planned to wake the man up first.
They had a fixed script for waking each other up. For example, when Chi Yuheng woke Ye Ran, knowing his “foodie” nature, he would usually start with, “Ye Ran, wake up.”
If that didn’t work, he would add, “There’s sweet cake here, get up and eat.”
If that still failed, Chi Yuheng would say directly, “Forget it if you won’t get up, I’m taking the cake away.”
Ye Ran would usually force his eyes open and whisper, “I want to eat it.”
Now, Ye Ran only needed one sentence to wake Chi Yuheng: “Chi Yuheng, I’m hungry.”
A few seconds later, the person lying on the sofa slowly opened his eyes.
How could he bear to let his Ye-zi go hungry?
Upon waking, he saw Ye Ran crouching by the sofa, staring at him with wide eyes. He asked, “Hungry?”
Ye Ran nodded with a smile.
He felt quite embarrassed. He had fallen asleep yesterday and actually let the patient sleep on the sofa—how sinful.
Thus, Ye Ran tried his best to be well-behaved this morning.
To his surprise, Chi Yuheng acted contrary to his usual self. He didn’t call Uncle Lin to deliver food, nor did he mention going to the hospital cafeteria with Ye Ran. Instead, he just looked at him quietly.
That scrutinizing gaze made Ye Ran’s scalp tingle.
Just as he was about to break, Chi Yuheng finally spoke a sentence he couldn’t understand: “Do you still feel disgusting?”
Ye Ran snapped his head up. “Huh?”
Ye Ran was bewildered.
Chi Yuheng looked him straight in the eye. “When you were sleeping yesterday, you were dreaming. You said, ‘Husband, disgusting’.”
Ye Ran: “…”
Looking at Chi Yuheng’s deeply wounded expression, Ye Ran didn’t know what to say for a moment.
First, he truly didn’t know he had said such a thing in his sleep. Second, if he spoke the truth and made the man angry, he wouldn’t be able to handle it.
“I don’t know! How could I have said that?”
Ye Ran was all smiles and playfulness, while Chi Yuheng was serious and solemn.
Ye Ran couldn’t keep smiling anymore. “Don’t be angry, you aren’t disgusting.”
A trace of confusion surfaced on Chi Yuheng’s face. What did this have to do with whether he was disgusting or not?
A smile finally touched the corner of his mouth as his gaze moved to Ye Ran’s stomach. “Ye Ran, you shouldn’t be able to get… pregnant, right?”
Ye Ran: “…”
Ye Ran grabbed a throw pillow from the sofa and threw it straight at the man. “Chi Yuheng, is there something wrong with you? I’m a man, how the hell would I get pregnant?”
Chi Yuheng steadily caught the pillow with one hand, his lips curling again. “Mm, not pregnant. Let me hear you call me ‘Husband’.”
Ye Ran: “…”
So he went in a whole circle just to wait for me here.
Ye Ran glanced to the side. “Not calling you that. Disgusting.”
Chi Yuheng: “Still ‘disgusting’? Come here and let me see.”
The more he said that, the further Ye Ran moved away. “I didn’t say I’m feeling disgusting, and I didn’t say you’re disgusting. I just don’t want to call you that…”
Chi Yuheng was a bit puzzled. “Why don’t you want to?”
Because he had called it “disgusting” when Chi Yuheng couldn’t hear.
Who would understand the experience of being in a locked room in the middle of the night, repeatedly calling out “Husband”?
The point was that Ye Muqing was calling it along with him.
Although it was just a voice command, every time Ye Ran said it, he substituted Chi Yuheng into his mind. But after Ye Muqing said it, the substitution felt like a completely different sensation.
In short, he really couldn’t say it right now.
“Give me some time to recover. I’ll call you that once I’ve recovered.”
Ye Ran’s ideas were often strange and eccentric; since he wouldn’t say it, Chi Yuheng didn’t want to force him either.
After breakfast and the doctor’s rounds, Chi Yuheng gave Ye Ran a look. “Let’s go.”
Ye Ran pretended not to understand and asked, “Do what?”
Chi Yuheng had already put on his coat. “Go out to breathe some fresh air.”
In the next second, Ye Ran shook his head like a rattle.
“Not going, not going. I think the air in the ward is quite good.”
Chi Yuheng saw through him in a second, chuckling, “How is it good? The hospital is full of the smell of disinfectant; how can it compare to the outside?”
After yesterday, Ye Ran had completely abandoned his plan to “walk” Chi Yuheng.
He truly couldn’t keep up.
But Chi Yuheng seemed full of enthusiasm, dragging Ye Ran out with one hand.
“You said it yourself—don’t stay cooped up at home all the time, go out for walks more.”
Ye Ran clung to Chi Yuheng’s arm. “If I can’t walk anymore, will you carry me on your back?”
Chi Yuheng’s boyfriend power exploded. “Never mind carrying you on my back, I can even give you a one-armed princess carry.”
At the Nurse’s Station:
Several young nurses poked their heads out to watch Chi Yuheng and Ye Ran.
After all, interaction between a young couple like this was harder to find than a needle in a haystack; they were lucky to get some “hot gossip” today.
“Oh my, why are they still talking so much? Just carry him!”
“Carry him? No, just drag him back to the ward.”
“…”
The young girls looked at each other with wicked smiles.
“Doctor Si, why have you come to the wards in our department?”
A nurse’s voice broke the atmosphere of the gossip-watchers.
Si Yue was wearing a white coat, hands in his pockets. His appearance always gave off a faint sense of detachment.
He still smiled very amiably. “I’m here for a visit. Which room is Chi Yuheng in?”
Coincidentally, Chi Yuheng and Ye Ran happened to be dragging and pulling each other right past the nurse’s station. A young nurse pointed that way. “Are you looking for them?”
