Ye Ran snapped his eyes open, his toes curling in embarrassment.
What lay beneath his leg wasn’t the soft mattress, but Chi Yuheng’s leg—an exceptionally firm and hard leg.
He had been so focused on shifting around just now that he hadn’t even paid attention to where he was shifting to.
Resting his leg so carelessly across Chi Yuheng’s body—how was that any different from blatant seduction?

He swiftly retracted his leg and then scooped up the quilt behind him.
Chi Yuheng watched his series of maneuvers with a bewildered expression as Ye Ran finally transformed the quilt from a round, bulging “yurt” into a long, thin “caterpillar.”
The long shape occupied less space in the middle, giving them both enough room to move.
Ye Ran looked at his newly established boundary.
Good. Very good.
This way, there wouldn’t be any more embarrassment.
Then, he lay back down to continue sleeping.
Chi Yuheng: “…”
Shouldn’t Ye Ran say something about his behavior just now?
He flirted but refused to provide after-sales service.
The little heartless thing.
Ye Ran turned around, his backside facing Chi Yuheng.
A certain someone intended to muddle his way through, feeling certain in his heart that Chi Yuheng wouldn’t pick him up and kiss him after he fell asleep.
The room fell into a rare silence for a few minutes. With his eyes closed, Ye Ran finally felt a hint of sleepiness, only for his phone to start ringing at that exact moment.
Ye Ran’s eyes were half-open. The phone ringtone continued to ring stubbornly, as if it wouldn’t stop until it dragged him out of his drowsiness. It was so noisy that his temples throbbed.
In a situation like this, Ye Ran would usually curse: Which idiot is calling in the middle of the night?
He fumbled toward the headboard, his fingers brushing against the bedsheets several times before finally touching the edge of the phone.
Just as his fingertips hooked the phone, before he could even see the name on the screen, his wrist was gently grasped by a warm hand.
“I’ll take it.” Chi Yuheng’s voice was a bit raspy, but still clear.
He truly couldn’t bear to see his little young master being woken up right after falling asleep.
He took the phone from Ye Ran’s hand. As his finger swiped across the screen, Ye Ran finally saw the caller ID under the light of the wall lamp: it was Xu Huijiang.
He didn’t know if Xu Huijiang was sleep-calling him, but with Chi Yuheng answering for him, Ye Ran closed his eyes peacefully and went back to sleep.
Chi Yuheng pressed the answer button and held the phone to his ear, his tone devoid of emotion. “Ye Ran is asleep. If there’s something, talk tomorrow.”
A chaotic mess of noise came from the other side. There was the sound of scuffling, people coaxing gently, and others howling at the top of their lungs.
In short, it was more lively than New Year’s firecrackers.
Chi Yuheng didn’t have much patience for such calls. It was entirely possible the other party had dialed by mistake, considering no one had spoken since the call connected.
Just as Chi Yuheng was about to hang up, a voice finally came from the other side. “Is… is this Brother Yuheng?”
Chi Yuheng gave a hum of affirmation.
Being tormented by the two ancestors in front of him, Xu Huijiang had already forgotten why Chi Yuheng would be in Ye Ran’s room.
His own brother was already asleep and hadn’t picked up. Only Ye Ran’s phone had connected. He didn’t care who answered; he needed reinforcements first.
“Brother Heng, I’m about to lose my grip on your family’s pig…”
Chi Yuheng: “???”
Xu Huijiang’s nonsensical words left Chi Yuheng completely bewildered.
“Hehe, I think I just heard you say ‘pig.’ Hey, you there—do you know how to sing the pig song?”
“You don’t, right? Well, I do! Pig, your nose has two holes. When you have a cold, you have snotty-cow boogers hanging…”
Now, Chi Yuheng didn’t need Xu Huijiang to explain further. He could hear it clearly: that was Chi Youchu’s voice.
Xu Huijiang dragged Chi Youchu with one hand while holding the phone in the other. “Brother Yuheng, I’m about to lose my grip on your brother.”
Ye Ran woke up after all.
Although Chi Yuheng tried his best to keep his voice down, Ye Ran noticed that he hadn’t returned to bed for a long time. He wondered what Xu Huijiang could possibly have to say to keep Chi Yuheng on the phone for so long.
Just as he was about to get up to check, he saw Chi Yuheng putting on his clothes to head out.
“Where are you going?” Ye Ran asked.
Chi Yuheng had no choice but to come back. “You sleep first. Something came up on Youchu’s side; I need to go over for a bit.”
Ye Ran had grown accustomed to having two people on this bed. Chi Yuheng’s sudden departure to let him sleep alone gave him an indescribable sense of dread—or rather, a lack of security.
Lying on the bed, he reached out into the empty air and grasped Chi Yuheng’s finger. “Take me with you.”
