Chapter 99: Weren’t You Quite Tough Last Night?
Chi Yuheng’s eyes narrowed.
Not quite sure, he listened closely as the night light said it again, “Chi Yuheng, you’re no good.”
This time he heard it clearly.
It was saying he was no good.
The groggy Ye Ran was also jolted awake by this sudden voice.
Anyone who has tried to sleep in the quiet of the night knows the horror of a voice suddenly popping up—it’s no different from encountering a ghost.
Ye Ran only heard a voice; he hadn’t clearly heard what the night light was saying.
Opening his eyes, he could vaguely see a pair of eyes staring straight at him in the darkness.
Ye Ran was startled and reached out to turn on the light, but his hand slipped and missed the switch, slapping the night light instead.
As if encouraged, the night light redoubled its efforts and repeated the later half of the words.
“If you’re no good, I can top you.”
“If you’re no good, I can top you.”
“…”
Ye Ran heard it clearly this time. He froze there like a stone.
It was so damn embarrassing.
This piece of junk didn’t speak when it should, and it wouldn’t stop when it shouldn’t.
Ye Ran regretted it so much.
He shouldn’t have bought this thing.
The night light was still repeating, so Ye Ran directly picked it up and slapped it unconscious.
The night light flickered a few times; presumably, it ran out of battery and went silent.
Ye Ran’s eardrums received a brief moment of peace, but in the next second, a sinister voice rose from beside him.
“You think I’m no good?”
This voice sounded no better than wind, rain, and thunder combined; the main point was that it made one’s hair stand on end.
No man could tolerate being provoked in this aspect.
Ye Ran stuttered a bit, “I… I didn’t…”
Chi Yuheng sat up and looked at him very seriously. “Ye Ran, do you think I can’t satisfy you?”
Ye Ran quibbled, “You said those words yourself; I didn’t say them.”
“Saying I’m no good earlier—wasn’t that you?”
Ye Ran directly shifted the blame. “That was the night light; it wasn’t me.”
Chi Yuheng: “Wasn’t it imitating you?”
Ye Ran was at a loss for words.
How should he say it? It wasn’t that he didn’t want to do it or kiss, but in the event that he had provoked Chi Yuheng, Ye Ran was afraid tonight wouldn’t be easy.
Thus, a certain someone began looking for an excuse to slip away for the sake of his backside. “I think the pillow in your room is uncomfortable. I’ll go back to my room and bring mine over.”
As he spoke, he scrambled to get off the bed. Just as one foot touched the floor, the other was grabbed and pulled back, dragging him back entirely.
Ye Ran fell back onto the soft mattress as if weightless, and for some reason, a pillow appeared under his backside.
An oppressive shadow loomed over him.
Chi Yuheng’s palm was still clutching his ankle, his finger pads stroking the delicate skin.
“If the pillow is uncomfortable, then don’t use it. Sleep with me as your pillow tonight.”
Ye Ran instinctively pulled back his foot but couldn’t break free. He could only stiffen his neck and play dumb. “Even if the pillow is uncomfortable, it can’t be used like that.”
Chi Yuheng’s lips lightly brushed against his lower lip, his tone leisurely. “Then how should it be used? Why don’t you teach me?”
Pillows were meant for sleeping; how else could they be used?
But before he could speak, Chi Yuheng’s hand had already slid slowly up his waist. As his fingertips grazed the waistline, it caused Ye Ran to tremble slightly.
He tried to lift his arms, but they were pinned down.
His pajamas were lifted. Ye Ran’s heart raced, and his palms were thin with sweat.
“Ye Ran.” Chi Yuheng looked up at him, his eyes filled with a possessiveness so thick it wouldn’t dissipate. “I need to prove to you whether I’m ‘good’ or not.”
…
The first ray of morning light pierced through the gap in the curtains, carrying a bit of cool golden radiance as it quietly climbed onto the edge of the bed.
Ye Ran was awakened by the piercing light, and his eyelids flickered.
The room was no longer the darkness of last night. Light drifted in along the folds of the curtains, illuminating the scattered clothes at the foot of the bed and the profile of the man beside him.
Fragments of last night replayed in Ye Ran’s mind.
He gritted his teeth. If he ever said Chi Yuheng was no good again, he’d be a dog. Last night was simply a miserable ordeal.
And that evil night light—he wished he could rub it against the floor eight hundred times.
While he was still thinking, the person beside him suddenly moved and slowly opened his eyes. Ye Ran subconsciously shut his eyes and pulled the quilt over to cover his face.
This series of actions was no different from an obvious “nothing to see here.”
Chi Yuheng’s hand resting on him tightened, pulling him closer. Warm breath brushed against his ear, carrying a hint of teasing.
“Quilts are for covering the body, not for hiding the face.” Chi Yuheng’s voice was wrapped in the raspiness of having just woken up, and his fingertips lightly poked Ye Ran’s burning cheek under the quilt.
“Weren’t you quite tough last night?”
Ye Ran shrunk back as much as he could, burying his head in Chi Yuheng’s neck like a turtle in its shell, retorting in a muffled voice: ” I was not!”
“You were not?” Chi Yuheng chuckled lowly, the vibration of his chest transmitting through their touching skin, making Ye Ran’s heart tingle. “Then why are you hiding? Afraid I’ll ask if you think I’m ‘good’ or not?”
“Chi Yuheng!” Ye Ran suddenly threw off the quilt, his face so red it could drip blood, his gaze holding a trace of embarrassed fierce energy. “Can you stop mentioning it?!”
The morning light happened to fall on the red corners of his eyes. His eyelashes were still stained with some un-dissipated moisture, like butterfly wings dampened by morning dew, looking both fierce and soft.
Chi Yuheng’s gaze lingered on his face for a moment. His Adam’s apple rolled involuntarily, and his originally teasing tone softened, yet it still carried a jest.
“Why can’t I mention it? Someone was crying and saying they didn’t dare anymore last night. What, do you want to back out now?”
“I was only like that because of you!”
Ye Ran stiffened his neck. His waist was sore and aching now. If he hadn’t been unable to take the torment last night, he wouldn’t have cried and begged for mercy.
The more he spoke, the more excited he became, and his body instinctively moved toward the edge of the bed. Seeing that he would fall off with one more move, Chi Yuheng pulled him back and pressed him back into his arms.
His palm rested on the small of his back, carrying the warmth of his palm as it stroked gently in a soothing manner.
Satisfied by the pressing, Ye Ran stopped moving and stayed obediently in Chi Yuheng’s arms, letting himself be waited on.
Today was the weekend, and Ye Ran had plenty of time to sleep in.
Chi Yuheng got up first, intending to go down and see about preparing breakfast for Ye Ran after washing up.
While Chi Yuheng went to wash up, Ye Ran wrapped himself in the quilt and reached for his phone on the bedside table to check the time.
Unlocking the phone, what he saw wasn’t the home page, but the camera.
That meant the last app he used yesterday was the camera.
What had he used the camera for?
Ye Ran’s brain short-circuited for a moment, and he couldn’t remember.
Unable to remember, he skipped it and clicked into the album.
Immediately, rows and rows of photos appeared one after another, filling the entire screen.
Ye Ran’s eyes widened instantly.
“Holy shit!”
