Chapter 124: Begging the Princess for Shelter
Li Lan nodded. “Has Huang jie heard of the Valley of No One?”
Li Xuanyue knit her brows.
Valley of No One?
She seemed to have heard those three words somewhere before.
“That is the place I planned to stay in from the beginning.”
“There are many mechanisms there.”
Li Lan spoke without any concealment, “I plan to go there with Uncle Hua Sang and never come out again.”
At that time, even if Hua Shanâs men found the place, he wouldn’t need to be afraid.
As long as he presented the token his father gave him before his death, the old Valley Master inside would surely treat him well.
This was what his father had told him before he died.
Li Xuanyue narrowed her eyes. “Since you have already made your plans, I won’t say anything more.”
“But after you and Fu jun go there, I hope you can write a letter regarding Fu jun every month.”
She couldn’t stay by his side to serve him, but she didn’t want to lose contact with Hua Sang because of it.
“Thatâs for certain.” Li Lan promised, “Even if you didn’t say so, Huang jie, I would still do it.”
Hua Sang and Li Xuanyue were father and daughter; that was a fact no one could change.
Even when he woke up, he would surely want to see his daughter, Li Xuanyue.
Li Lan had no reason not to inform Li Xuanyue of his condition.
After the two finished their simple meal in the temple, they had Hua Sang carried out of the ruined temple.
Today, Hua Sang was still in a coma.
Even with the medicine Li Lan fed him, he hadn’t immediately awakened.
This could be said to be the only pain in Li Xuanyueâs heart.
“Next, follow my instructions and go to the right first.” Li Xuanyue instructed, “I will take the remaining people and go to the left. After I have shaken those people off, I will meet up with you.”
“Conversely, if I don’t show up for a long time, you don’t need to wait.”
She would likely have returned to the Phoenix Clan with those men in black.
“Alright.”
Li Lan nodded with understanding and didn’t refuse. Hua Sang, who was already dressed in a guardâs uniform, was hidden among the crowd by Li Lanâs men.
Li Xuanyue alone took the remaining people, who were carrying a decoy disguised as Hua Sang, and headed toward the dense forest.
The men in black, who were already hiding in the shadows, watched this scene. Without a thought, they pursued in Li Xuanyueâs direction.
Although their movements weren’t loud, they weren’t quiet either.
Li Xuanyue frowned. Her skills were no worse than Li Lanâs. From the moment she entered the forest, she had already sensed someone following them in secret.
She knew those people had taken the bait.
Therefore, to prevent them from noticing anything was wrong and pursuing Li Lan, she did her best to lead her group onto smaller paths.
However, no matter how fast they walked, the men in black eventually caught up and stood before them.
“Princess, please return with us.”
The person standing before Li Xuanyue was none other than Xiao Ce.
He had received word that their people had discovered Li Xuanyueâs trail.
Therefore, Xiao Ce had not stopped along the way and had rushed over with his men as fast as possible.
He hadn’t expected to actually run into her.
Surprise flashed in Li Xuanyueâs eyes. “Fu jun really trusts you; I didn’t expect him to send you personally.”
“Princess, the Junhou is very worried about you.”
Xiao Ce looked at Li Xuanyueâs cold face and knew she was unhappy. He spoke in a deep voice, “If you return now, the Junhou will certainly not blame you.”
Li Xuanyue looked at the sky and felt that by now, Li Lan should have taken Hua Sang and the others completely out of reach.
Even if Xiao Ce took his men there now, it would likely be too late.
Therefore, she nodded in agreement without any hesitation.
“Alright, this Princess will return with you.”
A look of astonishment flashed in Xiao Ceâs eyes. He clearly hadn’t expected Li Xuanyue to agree so readily.
He had thought Li Xuanyue would resist with her men.
But this was for the best; it saved him from a difficult situation.
However, just as Xiao Ce was about to step forward personally, the brothers Li Zhen and Li Yin jumped out from the shadows.
Xiao Ce, who had been through many battles, immediately drew his longsword and took a defensive stance.
“Who are you?”
Xiao Ceâs face was grim. He likely never dreamed that someone would jump out from the shadows to help Li Xuanyue.
It was like having everything under your control, only for someone to suddenly run out and tell you your plan had failed.
Li Xuanyue was also surprised, but her face showed no expression.
“Why are you two appearing here?”
Had these two not left and been hiding in the shadows all along?
Then wouldn’t the things she and Li Lan said in the temple have been heard by them?
Li Zhen glanced at Li Xuanyue. “Lady, we have no malice. Don’t be afraid.”
“Thatâs right, my brother and I are out here to protect you!” Li Yin added.
Li Xuanyue: “…”
“No need.”
She waved her hand in refusal without a thought. “We know each other.”
The longswords in the hands of Li Zhen and his brother were lowered following Li Xuanyueâs words.
“Letâs go!”
Li Xuanyue urged Xiao Ce and the others.
Li Zhen and Li Yin looked at Li Xuanyueâs retreating back, their eyes filled with internal conflict.
But they followed in Li Xuanyueâs direction nonetheless.
“What are you trying to do?”
Xiao Ce saw these two walking toward Li Xuanyue and stepped forward to block them.
Li Xuanyue looked back at Li Zhen and his brother. “If you have something to say, just say it directly.”
“Do you want to leave with me?”
Li Zhen and Li Yin saw that Li Xuanyue had quickly guessed their thoughts and knelt on one knee before her without a second thought.
“We beg the Princess to take us in.”
They had also learned of Li Xuanyueâs identity while in the shadows.
For the two brothers, this was a turn for the better, a light at the end of the tunnel.
As long as Li Xuanyue agreed to take them in and bring them back to the Phoenix Clan, the two brothers would no longer have to sleep in the wild to escape pursuit.
Li Xuanyue hadn’t expected the brothers to beg her for shelter just to stay alive.
Were they not afraid she would kill them personally for what happened last night?
Xiao Ce fixed his gaze on Li Xuanyue.
“Princess!”
Before Xiao Ce could finish, Li Xuanyue interrupted him.
“Do you know that following me brings no benefits? On the contrary, it might cost you your lives.”
Li Xuanyue threatened, “Even so, do you still want to follow?”
The two brothers looked at each other.
“We will follow!”
The two brothers answered in unison.
Xiao Ceâs eyes were filled with dissatisfaction, but Li Xuanyue ignored him.
“Since you have made your decision, then come along.”
“Princess!”
Xiao Ce wanted to stop her, but Li Xuanyue didn’t give him the chance.
“Guard Xiao, this is this Princessâs matter. If I want to take two people back, I imagine you have no right to stop me.”
