Chapter 100: Seduction; Assassination / Hiding Behind the Curtain
Qi Bai’s gaze grew increasingly dark, and the coldness in his eyes intertwined with the desolate night outside the window.
The figure in the photo was too far away, his outline blurry and hard to distinguish. Only his eyes were strikingly bright, like cold stars had been added to them.
…
Jiang Chenyan didn’t use the main door on his return. Ji Xuan dropped a rope, and he climbed up by hand.
When he jumped into the room, Ji Xuan was already lying back on the bed.
The light-brain suddenly lit up with a message from Shen Shiyue, saying he would arrive at the designated location early in the morning.
Jiang Chenyan walked to the sofa in the middle of the room and sat down. He lightly swiped the screen, replying with a faint smile on his lips: [I’m actually setting off tomorrow morning. Qi Bai is meticulous. I just finished someone off, and I’m afraid he’ll detect my tracks and come looking suddenly.]
Shen Shiyue’s reply was almost instant: [Do we have to have a long-distance relationship between planets?]
A fine smile spread in Jiang Chenyan’s eyes as he tapped out the words: [Soon. Once the mission is complete, we’ll meet on T Planet.]
Shen Shiyue’s reply came from afar, with a soft emoji added at the end: [Alright. I miss you very much.]
[Me too.]
Ji Xuan lay on the bed and glanced at Jiang Chenyan, his voice carrying a bit of lazy hoarseness: “Talking to Shen Shiyue is that making you that happy?”
With a smile that wide, he knew who it was at a guess.
“En, happy.” Jiang Chenyan turned off the light-brain. The moment the screen went dark, his tone deepened a bit. “I’m leaving tomorrow morning. I’m setting off in two hours; the sun is almost up.”
“Ah? That fast?” Ji Xuan suddenly propped up his upper body.
“I have other missions to get to; I need to meet up with Ye Qingyu and Kai Lan,” Jiang Chenyan explained.
Ji Xuan was stunned for a moment, but in the end, he only let out a sigh of relief. “Alright then.”
…
When Jiang Chenyan set off, he was carrying a dark suitcase. After saying goodbye to Xiao Yi, he planned to leave.
As he was leaving, Xiao Yi’s voice suddenly called out from behind him. He was carrying a bulging bag and hurried forward to hand it over. “It’s a long road. Take these snacks; you can eat them if you’re hungry. Be sure to be careful and take care of yourself.”
Jiang Chenyan reached out to take the bag. His fingertips touched the softness of the bag, and he said a low “thank you.” He was about to turn and continue walking when he heard Xiao Yi’s hesitant voice behind him. “Also… Ye, I’ve been wanting to ask you: are you really just an ordinary doctor? Is this trip really to another planet to find a job?”
Hearing those words, Jiang Chenyan’s footsteps stopped instantly. He was silent for a long time before finally letting out a soft sigh. “Don’t ask too much. Goodbye, Boss.”
His identity was special, and every matter he handled was quite dangerous. He couldn’t afford a single mistake and couldn’t involve innocent people. It was best for them to just be passersby in each other’s lives.
Xiao Yi looked at Jiang Chenyan’s departing back. A bitter smile tugged at his lips as he murmured, “Who exactly are you?”
He was inexplicably reluctant to see the other leave.
…
The next day, when the sun was high and the people in the shop had arrived for their shifts, they realized with hindsight that Jiang Chenyan had left. The few employees who were familiar with him were somewhat reluctant.
Xie Huaijin stood in the shop, his brow deathly furrowed and his face incredibly dark. He was perfectly fine, so why did he suddenly leave?
Not only was the person gone, but last night Qi Bai had lost several subordinates, with heavy casualties.
Not long after, Qi Bai came downstairs, his body wrapped in a chill and a thick, low pressure. His face was as cold as ice as he walked straight to Xiao Yi. “Is it convenient to disclose that person’s information?”
Facing Qi Bai’s cold gaze, Xiao Yi’s already uneasy heart sank further. His face was pale. “He didn’t register any information.”
“Ye.” Qi Bai interrupted Xiao Yi coldly, his scrutiny intensifying. “I heard you all call him that.”
However, he had sent people to investigate overnight, screening the registered information across all interstellar systems one by one. He hadn’t missed even names with similar pronunciations or characters. He had checked several times, and the appearances and names didn’t match at all.
Could it be that this person had no legal identity at all and was an undocumented person?
Thinking of this, Qi Bai’s expression was grim as he questioned Xiao Yi, “Is this a black shop? You don’t even register basic identity information when receiving guests; that’s quite irregular.”
Xiao Yi wanted to say something, but in the end, he remained silent, a flash of helplessness in his eyes.
If Qi Bai put it that way, there was nothing he could do.
Most of the shops in this town were black shops that didn’t follow the rules anyway; adding theirs really didn’t count for much.
Xie Huaijin frowned as he walked to Qi Bai. “Did you find any points of doubt?”
Qi Bai lowered his eyes to compose himself, his gaze becoming even more bone-chillingly cold.
It wasn’t just points of doubt; there were loopholes everywhere.
For a moment, the atmosphere in the room was extremely poor.
The sound of footsteps came suddenly from outside, vaguely mixed with the sound of an argument. The next second, an Alpha hurried in. “Admiral, Admiral Shen Shiyue has arrived in person.”
Qi Bai’s brow furrowed sharply, a cold light flashing in his eyes. His mind suddenly cleared, and he finally understood where that previous sense of incongruity had come from.
Shen Shiyue’s movements were too coincidental.
Qi Bai looked up to meet Xie Huaijin’s eyes, both of them tacitly understanding the crux of the matter. That “Ye” was likely one of Shen Shiyue’s people; no wonder no trace could be found even with an interstellar screening.
When it came down to it, they were in the same boat, colluding in secret.
While they were thinking, Shen Shiyue had already pushed the door open and entered, followed by quite a few people.
Shen Shiyue was dressed more formally than usual. His black haute couture leather shoes made a sound on the floor, and his crisp black uniform traced his upright figure. He was wrapped in a sharp aura from years of battlefield experience. His features were cold as an ice carving, with no warmth in his eyes. Wherever his gaze swept, the air seemed to freeze.
Xiao Yi and the others were a bit stunned. With such a large group of people, the inn became a bit crowded.
Shen Shiyue looked at Qi Bai and spoke in a commanding tone, “I’ve brought top professional medical staff specifically to diagnose and treat Ji Xuan’s illness. Don’t waste time. Now, take me in.”
Qi Bai’s expression darkened inch by inch. After weighing it for a moment, he stepped aside to clear the way.
…
T Planet.
In a small, dilapidated house, the light was dim. A dark, solid wood round table occupied the center, and the atmosphere was quiet with a hint of tension.
Ye Qingyu was leaning back in a chair. Her entire face was heavily made up, the corners of her eyes tilted up very high. Her burgundy eyeshadow created a sharp arc, and every part of her makeup was exquisite to the extreme.
The dozen or so other people didn’t dare look up at Ye Qingyu. Why is she dressed like this today?
Jiang Chenyan went straight to the meeting room after finishing his journey back. When he pushed the door and entered, he was still covered in dust. As soon as he stepped in, the gazes of the dozen or so people at the table focused on him in unison.
Jiang Chenyan’s brow furrowed slightly. “Stop looking at me. Meeting time.”
Ye Qingyu let out a soft cough to break the brief silence. Her fingertips toyed with a stray hair by her ear as her red lips parted in agreement: “Exactly. Don’t waste time on business. Meeting time.”
Immediately after, Kai Lan picked up the materials before him and spoke his report with a grave expression: “The news from Shen Shiyue is correct. The Alliance is putting in a lot of effort this time. They haven’t just sent Qi Bai and Xie Huaijin’s team to destroy us, but they’ve also added Admiral Cyrus. This man is unusual; his reputation across the interstellar world is ridiculously good and his prestige is extremely high. He’s a difficult character to deal with.”
“Right!” Ye Qingyu nodded heavily, her fingertips tapping the tabletop. “Not just Cyrus. Do you all remember Frederick from the Alliance Military Academy? That guy is closely connected to Cyrus in secret, and they have very frequent dealings. Now almost the entire Alliance Military Academy has been thoroughly brainwashed by him; their heads are full of praise for Cyrus.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chenyan’s eyebrow tilted. “If I remember correctly, Cyrus’s fame has indeed been ridiculously high these past few years. With battle merits stacking up, his prestige has soared to the point where he’s almost loved by the entire populace. There are voices of praise wherever he goes.”
“So this matter is exceptionally troublesome.” A coldness condensed between Ye Qingyu’s heavily made-up features. “Cyrus’s prestige is too high and he has the support of the people. Acting recklessly would only draw fire; we can’t touch him at all.”
Her lips curved in a light smile. “So the plan is to first cut off his right arm—that Frederick from the Alliance Military Academy. Once his help is cut off, we’ll deal with him later.”
Jiang Chenyan looked up. “I have no objections.”
He quite wanted to kill that man.
This was the perfect opportunity to settle both new and old scores at once.
Ye Qingyu scanned everyone. “Frederick is very lecherous and has a preference for beautiful Omegas. I’ll handle this; I’m volunteering for the seduction. It’s no big deal to make a bit of a sacrifice.”
The moment the words fell, the people below were instantly stunned and began coughing.
Seeing this, Ye Qingyu spoke unhappily: “What kind of expressions are those? Do you think I’m not beautiful enough to hook him?”
Jiang Chenyan: “It’s not that…”
Kai Lan immediately followed up deeply, “It’s too risky for you to go alone. It definitely won’t work; the risk is too great.”
A flash of ruthlessness crossed Ye Qingyu’s eyes. “So we need to set an ambush in the room beforehand. I’ll lure Frederick in, and we’ll work together from the inside and outside to deal with him.”
Jiang Chenyan nodded in agreement. “En. I’ll hide under the table or somewhere else, ready to kill at any moment.”
The moment those words were out, an image flashed through everyone’s minds—Ye Qingyu and Frederick being intimate in a room while Jiang Chenyan was silently lying in ambush under the table.
The image was too “beautiful” to imagine.
Ye Qingyu looked up at Jiang Chenyan. “I originally wanted to send others for the ambush; there’s no need to trouble you.”
Jiang Chenyan: “Better to trouble me. I must kill this man with my own hands.” He still felt that Frederick was Lorde.
“Alright.” Ye Qingyu agreed simply, not advising further.
She then looked at everyone. “We’ll carry out the mission tonight. I’ll send out the individual tasks and divisions of labor for everyone else to your light-brains right now. If there are any questions, speak up here.”
…
Late at night, the bar was burning hot with gilded lights. Neon sparkles were soaked in the swaying alcohol, mixed with a thick scent of wine and decadent perfume that filled the entire space.
Deafening music was wrapped in laughter and playfulness. Scantily-clad men and women intertwined wantonly, and the touch of fingertips was full of ambiguous flow. Every corner exuded the vanity and decadence of wealth and indulgence.
Ye Qingyu’s cheeks were stained a vivid burgundy by the wine, and her eye corners were misty. Her figure swayed and stumbled as if her mind were blurred by alcohol. Her heavy makeup made her look even more alluring.
Many people with ill intentions nearby saw her drunken, soft state and used the crowded mob to reach out to try and steal a touch. She used her swaying posture to skillfully side-step them, not letting anyone take even a bit of advantage.
Ye Qingyu looked back and forth through the crowd, finally locking onto her target. She saw Frederick sitting quietly alone in a booth, his fingertips nonchalantly stroking a wine glass, his expression lazy.
She immediately swayed over. Her feet went soft on purpose, and she fell delicately into Frederick’s embrace. Her hair brushed against Frederick’s neck, carrying a rich scent of perfume.
“My head is so dizzy, I feel so bad…” She looked up at Frederick, her voice soft, waxy, and trembling. Her fingertips hooked around the other’s neck as she pressed her body closer into his embrace.
Seeing this, several people with Frederick immediately laughed and began to tease, their gazes directly scanning Ye Qingyu’s waist. “Not bad, Frederick! Quite the lucky strike. This beauty’s figure is top-notch, especially that waist—it’s so thin you could snap it.”
Frederick’s fingertips carried a scorching heat as he lightly stroked the side of Ye Qingyu’s waist, teasing ambiguously: “With so many Alphas, why did you fall specifically into my arms?”
Ye Qingyu looked up at him, her eye corners filled with vivid moisture. “Because you’re the best-looking one here.”
She almost vomited as she spoke.
Frederick loved hearing those words. His mood became increasingly pleasant. The warnings of vigilance Cyrus had repeatedly given lately were long since thrown out the window.
He believed that whether it was his pheromones or his skills, he was quite good; few in the interstellar world dared to openly attack him. He had always acted without restraint.
With a thought, Frederick leaned down and picked up Ye Qingyu in a steady horizontal carry.
Ye Qingyu took the opportunity to put her arms around Frederick’s neck, her cheek rubbing against the crook of his shoulder. Her voice was soft and clingy: “Big brother, I’ve booked a room. My head is so dizzy and I feel so bad right now. Take me in to rest, won’t you?”
Frederick’s reason was already blurred by the wine. Coupled with being wrapped in the alluring and ambiguous pheromones on Ye Qingyu, his Adam’s apple bobbed and he responded, “Alright.”
The light in the guest room was dim.
Jiang Chenyan and another colleague held their breath, waiting quietly behind the heavy curtains of the balcony, their figures hidden in the shadows.
The moment the door was pushed open, Jiang Chenyan silently peeked out to confirm. Seeing Frederick enter holding Ye Qingyu, he immediately retreated.
Frederick was already unable to contain himself. The moment he closed the door, he impatiently reached out to tear at Ye Qingyu’s clothes, his movements crude and hurried.
A thick Alpha pheromone filled the air, piercing and harsh. Jiang Chenyan and the colleague beside him frowned almost simultaneously, a flash of disgust crossing their eyes. They suppressed their restless emotions and waited for the right moment.
Carrying the smell of wine and heat, Frederick pressed Ye Qingyu onto the bed. His finger pads roughly stroked the skin of the person beneath him. Desire had blinded him; he was going to mark this Omega.
