Chapter 101: Did You Miss Me?; Logically He Should Be Used to It, but He Could Never Last to the End… part 1
The bed frame couldn’t bear the weight, making a creaking sound in its violent shaking that echoed repeatedly in the cramped room, making one’s scalp tingle.
Jiang Chenyan’s figure approached step by step, with his colleague following close behind. A dark muzzle was pressed steadily against the back of Frederick’s head.
Frederick’s movements jerked to a stop, his spine instantly tensing.
His neck stiffened as he slowly looked back. His gaze met Jiang Chenyan’s incredibly cold eyes, and his heart sank.
“Who are you?” Frederick’s voice carried an undetectable tremble, whether from anger or fear.
Jiang Chenyan’s thin lips parted, his voice as cold as crushed ice. “The one who’s sending you on your way.”
“Lorde.”
With just those two syllables, Frederick’s pupils shrank. This name, which had been buried deep in his memories for a long time, instantly awakened his past dark and wretched memories.
Frederick instinctively struggled to break free, but the moment he moved, the dagger in Ye Qingyu’s hand ruthlessly pierced through his palm. The sharp blade cut through the flesh and embedded into the bone. Blood gushed out along the dagger’s grooves, staining his palm red.
“Aaah—!”
A shrill cry of pain broke from his throat. Frederick’s face went pale. They were in this together.
“Do you know my status? You dare do this!”
Jiang Chenyan looked down at Frederick’s pained and distorted expression, his eyes devoid of any ripple. “You toyed with me before. Now it’s my turn to toy with you, Lorde.”
These words exploded in Frederick’s mind like thunder. He reacted instantly, roaring with bloodshot eyes: “Jiang Chenyan!”
It’s Jiang Chenyan!!
It must be!
The moment the words fell, a cold blade ruthlessly swept across Lorde’s throat. Scalding blood sprayed out, staining Lorde’s collar and flowing over his chest.
Lorde’s eyes were wide as gurgling blood bubbles rose from his mouth. His body slumped onto the bed, twitching a few times before falling still.
He died with a lingering grievance, never expecting to fall at Jiang Chenyan’s hands.
Blood flowed continuously from the wound in Lorde’s throat, running down the edge of the bed and pooling into a dark red puddle on the floor.
Ye Qingyu efficiently wiped away the remaining blood on her hands and straightened the folds of her collar, praising Jiang Chenyan, “Quick work.”
“We can’t stay here long. We have to leave quickly.”
“Fingerprints were left; we need to clean them up,” the colleague said deeply.
He leaned down to pick up Lorde’s cold corpse. The wound on the neck was still seeping blood, leaving fine red tracks on the floor as he moved.
Considering the neighboring residents and fearing a fire would affect the innocent, they didn’t set fire to the room. Working together, they doused Lorde’s body in flammable liquid and lit it. Fire soared instantly. They raised their hands and threw the burning corpse out of the high window.
The corpse fell to the ground with a dull thud. The blinding fire instantly startled everyone in the building.
For a moment, screams from passersby and panicked footsteps rose and fell. Downstairs turned into a complete mess as the crowd scattered to hide, the scene becoming chaotic.
The three took the chance to slip into an empty room on the other side of the hallway. They closed the door and held their breath, peering through the window crack to watch the movement downstairs. Once the chaos below reached its peak, they exchanged a look and decisively vaulted out the window. Climbing quickly down the pipes on the outside of the building, they jumped down and used the chaotic flow of people as cover to move away from the scene.
Tonight, everything went haywire.
Police sirens rose and fell in the night. The hotel and the surrounding streets were plunged into panic.
The three hurried to the interstellar port overnight and successfully boarded the airship heading for T Planet.
The airship traveled through the interstellar lanes. Outside the window was endless darkness and twinkling stars. No one spoke inside the craft.
It was already late at night when they arrived on T Planet. Just as they had settled in, they opened their terminals to find that the headlines of all major media outlets were about the murder that night. The screen repeatedly played Frederick’s identity information and the horrific scene. Then the camera shifted, and Cyrus’s face appeared on the screen, his expression so dark it could drip water. He spoke ruthlessly: “No matter who did this, I will not let them go.”
Immediately after, the police released the last bit of surveillance footage from the scene. In the image, a figure in red was clearly visible, her face captured perfectly by the camera without any obstruction.
Jiang Chenyan and the colleague beside him met each other’s eyes instantly. Then, they turned their heads together to look at Ye Qingyu.
Ye Qingyu stared at her own image on the screen, her lips twitching. For a moment, she was speechless. “…”
After a while, she spoke, “I volunteer to draw all the fire.”
Jiang Chenyan frowned. “You should say that to President He. We can’t make the call.”
He Zhou was the president of the Association and held the final decision-making power. Everything had to go through his approval.
Jiang Chenyan lightly tapped the tabletop, his gaze on Ye Qingyu. “Speaking of which, did President He know about this plan? After all, we’re just Vice Presidents of the Association. Such a major move shouldn’t be made without his authorization.”
“He knows.” Ye Qingyu leaned against her chair back and rubbed her temples. “I reported it in advance. He didn’t have any objections. But there’s no doubt that I’m going to be wanted across the whole interstellar world next. I’ll have to find a good place to hide from the wind for a while.”
Jiang Chenyan nodded. “The key is to not let Cyrus find out your true identity. If he gets a hold of you, he’ll definitely make a big deal of it. Then our entire Association will be affected and become pariahs everyone hunts down.”
Ye Qingyu cursed under her breath. What a pain. “I’ll find a way to interfere with him; I won’t let him find key information.”
“I’ll help you too. For now, rest well.” Jiang Chenyan handed Ye Qingyu a hot drink, then turned to hand one to the colleague. “After all the trouble tonight, everyone is tired. Let’s head back to our rooms to rest. Conserve your energy to deal with what’s coming.”
Ye Qingyu took the drink. Warmth spread into her palm from the cup, and a hint of warmth was added to the exhaustion in her eyes. She nodded lightly in agreement.
…
After saying goodbye to the two, Jiang Chenyan headed straight for the third floor. Pinching his room card, he swiped it lightly at the sensor. With a soft beep, the door popped open a crack.
Just as he was about to push the door open and enter, his wrist was suddenly grabbed by a warm, powerful hand, and he was pulled inside with a jerk.
His back hit the cold door panel hard. His shout was swallowed by the scorching kiss that followed.
An Alpha figure loomed over him. Scalding lips covered Jiang Chenyan’s in a crude and hurried kiss. Amidst the grinding, there was an ultimate possessiveness. His tongue arrogantly pried open the teeth, wantonly plundering the breath in Jiang Chenyan’s mouth.
Even Jiang Chenyan’s breathing was made a mess by the other’s interference.
“I—”
He couldn’t get a word out.
Shen Shiyue’s warm palm was clamped around the back of Jiang Chenyan’s neck. His grip tightened, pressing the person firmly into his embrace. The kiss was fierce and deep. The longing and heat he had suppressed for a long time reached their peak at this moment.
The kiss gradually slowed down. Shen Shiyue pressed his forehead against Jiang Chenyan’s, his breath a bit shallow. His voice carried the hoarseness that followed passion. He asked softly, “Did you miss me?”
Jiang Chenyan’s breathing hadn’t settled yet. “Who does this the moment they come in?” He had almost been kissed to death.
Being pulled in and forcefully kissed without any defense just now had his heart still pounding wildly. He had indeed been startled quite badly.
Shen Shiyue tightened his arms, holding Jiang Chenyan firmly in his embrace. His chin rested on the top of the other’s head as he repeated, “I asked if you missed me.”
“Is it possible that we’ve only been apart for less than a month?”
“But I miss you every minute and every second.” Shen Shiyue’s voice was deep and raspy, his gaze hot enough to burn Jiang Chenyan.
His hands weren’t being honest either, taking off Jiang Chenyan’s clothes.
Seeing this, Jiang Chenyan let out a helpless sigh. He raised his arms to hook them around Shen Shiyue’s neck and said softly, “To the bed.”
Shen Shiyue’s eyes darkened. The two of them stumbled toward the bed. Just as Jiang Chenyan’s back touched the cool sheets, he was pressed into the other’s embrace.
His surroundings were full of the intense aura of the Alpha. Scorching breath brushed against his neck and ear, making Jiang Chenyan’s skin tremble and his body temperature soar.
Logically, he should be used to it, but he could never last to the end.
The beginning was fine, but later his consciousness grew heavier. His fingertips unconsciously gripped the sheets beneath him. His whole body went soft and limp. He only felt that his blood was burning, and even his eyes were stained with a layer of hot moisture.
Jiang Chenyan felt like he was wrapped in a warm heatwave, his fingertips turning red from the stuffiness.
His eyelids felt heavy and dry. He struggled to look up at the person over him, his fingertips hanging limp. “I don’t want anymore… I’m too tired…”
“Did you hear me? Shen Shiyue.”
Shen Shiyue’s gaze softened. He leaned down and gently picked up Jiang Chenyan in a horizontal carry to help him bathe.
His fingertips lightly and gently stroked over Jiang Chenyan’s skin, carefully washing every inch of him.
After cleaning him, he wrapped Jiang Chenyan tightly in a soft towel, wiped him dry, and carried him back to lie in the quilt.
As soon as Jiang Chenyan sank into the bedding, he became dazed. Shen Shiyue’s voice came from above: “Sleep. I’ll stay with you.” Hearing this, Jiang Chenyan’s body relaxed. He shrunk into Shen Shiyue’s embrace and fell asleep.
The next day, when the daylight spread into the room, Jiang Chenyan slowly woke up. He opened his eyes to see Shen Shiyue sitting in the armchair not far away, his fingertips flipping through files on his light-brain.
Hearing movement, Shen Shiyue asked Jiang Chenyan, “Killed someone last night?”
