Chapter 13: Caught You
Inside the pitch-black bedroom, the curtains hadn’t been drawn, and the moonlight shone in.
The door closed silently, and everything returned to quiet.
Shi He leaned down, his dark eyes revealing a terrifying coldness.
Without hurry, he pulled back a corner of the quilt. His long, cold white hand pressed against the soft hair, his fingertips sliding down and landing nonchalantly on the side of the neck. He could have easily snatched away the life there.
The pheromones of an S-grade Alpha swept in, the amber scent becoming increasingly rich as it spread throughout the entire room, leaving nowhere to hide.
“Mianmian, I’ve caught you.”
If they were an Alpha and an Omega, one would have been able to see the exceptionally lazy mental manifestation lying on the Alpha’s shoulder. The black snake tail crawled forward, inch by inch encircling the Beta’s ankle that had poked out of the quilt.
In his sleep, Ruan Zhimian frowned. His beautiful small face was soft, and his wet eyelashes curled upward. He was wearing cotton cartoon bear pajamas.
He looked very clean and very obedient.
Every Alpha and Omega has the chance to possess their own mental manifestation.
The mental manifestations of high-level Alphas are more powerful. A mental manifestation has no actual existential value; one could say it is merely a product of human evolution.
However, there are often some illegal places that use mental manifestations as exhibits to attract people looking for novelty.
Shi He was different. Shortly after he was born, his parents had a test report done for him. This report showed that he was a high-level Alpha and had a tendency toward high-level differentiation.
From that day on, Shi He was groomed to be the future successor of the Shi family.
Until the accident occurred: Shi He’s father went missing, his mother died in a car accident, and he himself became a “disabled” person who needed to wear a hearing aid.
After the car accident, the ten-year-old boy had stayed alone in a private hospital for a long time. During the half-year he was hospitalized, Shi He didn’t see a single family member appear.
He was isolated from the world and abandoned.
The name registered on the hospital bed wasn’t Shi He either. No one told him why, and he couldn’t get an answer.
Until the day he was discharged, when the Shi family’s butler appeared. He brought Shi He’s suitcase and sent him to the airport. The destination was Country M.
“Young Master, this is the Old Master’s wish. Huajiang is not safe right now.”
“You are the future hope of the Shi family. Please study hard abroad and don’t let down the expectations Monsieur and Madam had for you.”
The moment the plane took off…
From a dull throbbing to a sharp pain, the feeling rapidly spread through his entire body.
The boy reached out and took off his hearing aid.
Those cold eyes watched calmly as the plane left Huajiang, his sharp fingertips sinking deep into his palm as blood followed.
He had just learned from a childhood friend who boarded the plane with him that at the scene of the car accident half a year ago, his mother had died on the spot, not even waiting for rescue.
His childhood friend, Gu Xici, reached out and shook Shi He’s arm anxiously.
“Where do you feel unwell?”
The boy was skillfully using pain to suppress pain.
He had grown up and had to grow up.
“I’m fine.”
Shi He stayed abroad for six years, staying with the Gu family, who were old friends of the Shi family.
It wasn’t until four years ago that he returned.
In these ten years, every step had been difficult, and every step was a road that had been planned countless times.
He had long since been tortured into a madman amidst these countless expectations.
He wouldn’t let go of anyone involved in what happened back then.
Ruan Zhimian was an accident.
The little scammer had poked the phone screen and sent a long list of friend requests, almost crashing Shi He’s social media app.
[Gege, I like you very, very much. Can we get to know each other?]
[I’m really not a scammer.]
[Today I ate the braised pork with rice at the second cafeteria. it was delicious.]
[There’s so much homework this afternoon; I really want to sleep.]
[Meow meow meow—I met a super cute kitty.]
[I’ve been writing for so long; I’m going to sleep first. I hope Gege has added me when I wake up.]
When the messages were approved, the first message Ruan Zhimian sent over was a confession. His voice was sweet as he sent a voice note telling him he liked him.
[Shi He: Why do you like me?]
The question stumped him. It wasn’t until a few minutes later that a message came through limp and weak, sounding quite silly.
[Little Scammer: I like everything about Gege. In my eyes, you are the most, most, most amazing…]
Shi He had saved all the voice notes.
They were all evidence.
Inside the bedroom, Shi He leaned down slowly, his long lashes drooping. His dark phoenix eyes revealed a sickly look. His calloused fingertip pressed against the soft chin. “Scammer baby.”
He encircled the wrist and began kissing him in a dense and thorough manner.
“You said you liked me; you have to take responsibility for me.”
In his sleep, Ruan Zhimian opened his eyes in a daze. His clear eyes were filled with moisture, and his soft fingers rubbed against the back of the Alpha’s hand. The tips of his ears were also red as he tried to speak, but his voice was only a breath, looking completely dazed.
“Am I… dreaming…”
The Alpha before him was still wearing that bathrobe. He didn’t hide at all, naturally drawing him into his embrace. The belt of the bathrobe had inadvertently loosened slightly, revealing his smooth-lined abs.
This appearance was practically that of a male fox spirit.
Ruan Zhimian watched his hand being grabbed. He used his other hand to cover his eyes and murmured softly.
“I… must be dreaming…”
Self-condemnation.
He was too immoral, actually having a dream like this.
