Chapter 203
Shen Shuyu didn’t know why Father and Mother Shen had suddenly returned either. He was caught a bit off guard, as they had told him this morning that they wouldn’t be back until very late.
Mother Shen had brought a small cake back for him. Listening to his parents chat beside him, he soon asked, “Mom, why did you come back so early?”
Mother Shen said, “Our friend had some sudden business to attend to and had to head back. Your father and I were going to wander around, but then we thought you were at the hotel, so we came back.”
Shen Shuyu swallowed a mouthful of cake. “How old do you think I am? Still worried?”
Mother Shen said, “No matter how old you are, you’re still Mom’s little baby.”
She added, “By the way, you’re coming with us for dinner tonight. They even asked about you. Go and say hello, and remember to be polite.”
Shen Shuyu’s tone was soft. “Do I have to go? But I’m not familiar with them; it won’t be any fun at all.”
Mother Shen poked his forehead. “I’m taking you to eat, not to play. You’re so old now, yet your head is still filled with playing.”
Shen Shuyu buried his head in eating the cake. It seemed he had no choice but to attend this dinner tonight.
Father Shen hummed: “Don’t worry. His son is about the same age as you. Since you’re around the same age, you should be able to chat.”
Shen Shuyu let out a “ha.” “Is his son also an Omega?”
Mother Shen said, “An Alpha. You met when you were very young. He’s one year older than you.”
Shen Shuyu understood instantly. He said, “Mom, I haven’t even graduated yet. Are you already setting me up on blind dates?”
Mother Shen said, “What blind date? It’s just taking you to make a friend. He can also take you around. You’ve been in the hotel all day today; without a friend, going out to play won’t be fun.”
Mother Shen patted his shoulder. “Alright, it’s settled. We’re leaving tomorrow. In all fairness, you have to go out with us for a stroll.”
Shen Shuyu sighed. “Fine then.”
There was no point in arguing further. He would just return directly after eating and consider it a completed task.
Seeing him agree, Mother Shen smiled. “Good boy. That’s my sweet baby.”
“Then go and change your clothes quickly. Once you’re ready, we’ll leave,” Mother Shen urged. “Wear something that looks spirited.”
Shen Shuyu let out a sigh and reluctantly returned to his bedroom. He picked out a long white down jacket to put on. With Father and Mother Shen here now, he didn’t even have the chance to say a single word to Wen Jiafei.
He rubbed his face. But if Wen Jiafei saw that he wasn’t in his room, he would probably be able to guess.
Shen Shuyu closed the wardrobe. He had to hurry back after he finished eating.
Ten o’clock at night.
Shen Shuyu used his card to swipe open the hotel room door. He had drunk a little bit of wine and couldn’t help but press his temples. He hadn’t expected his elders to have so much energy. He hadn’t even found a chance to escape and had to wait until the scheduled time to return with them.
Mother Shen urged him to rest early, as they had to head home tomorrow. In a couple of days, it would be the Lunar New Year. Shen Yisi had also finished his work and sent Shen Shuyu a message in the evening asking when they would be home.
On one hand was going home, and on the other was Wen Jiafei’s situation. Shen Shuyu felt his head was about to explode. Coupled with the wine he had drunk tonight, he ignored some of the abnormalities in his room.
For instance, the faint scent of bitter orange in the air.
Shen Shuyu inserted the room card into the slot and was about to turn on the lights in the room when he felt a heat source approaching him. Shen Shuyu became alert and, without thinking, threw a punch at the person beside him. But the other party made no attempt to dodge.
Shen Shuyu heard a muffled groan, and his alcohol-clouded brain finally registered that Wen Jiafei was here.
But before he could even speak, he was pulled into an embrace.
Shen Shuyu felt the other party’s body was scorching hot. He asked, “Wen Jiafei, what’s wrong with you?”
Wen Jiafei didn’t speak, only holding him tightly, burying his face into the crook of his shoulder, greedily taking in the faint scent on his body. It seemed only this would make him feel better.
Shen Shuyu’s eyelids twitched fiercely. He felt the situation was wrong. He wanted to separate Wen Jiafei from himself to see what was wrong, but Wen Jiafei held him too tightly. Like an octopus, he couldn’t be pushed away no matter how hard he tried.
Furthermore, Shen Shuyu’s resisting movements seemed to annoy him. He rubbed his forehead against Shen Shuyu’s shoulder, his tone filled with grievance: “Don’t, don’t leave me.”
Shen Shuyu was at a bit of a loss upon hearing these words. After a moment’s hesitation, he used one hand to reassuringly pat Wen Jiafei’s back. “I’m not leaving you.”
But his other hand was already searching for the switch on the wall. Wen Jiafei held him tightly, and Shen Shuyu took a difficult step, finally managing to flip on the light in the living room. However, because of this, his balance was unstable, and he ended up falling toward the floor, taking Wen Jiafei with him.
But the expected pain didn’t arrive. At the critical moment, Wen Jiafei swapped positions with him, and Shen Shuyu fell directly on top of Wen Jiafei.
Shen Shuyu hurried to prop himself up and asked nervously, “Wen Jiafei, are you okay?”
It was at this moment that he noticed Wen Jiafei’s current abnormality.
He was wearing only a thin black shirt, and the buttons were fastened haphazardly. More importantly, his body temperature was unnatural.
Shen Shuyu placed a hand on his forehead. The scorching temperature made him want to pull his hand back instinctively, but Wen Jiafei’s hand tightened around his wrist, pressing his hand back against his cheek.
Wen Jiafei lay on the floor, looking at him with red eyes, as if he had been bullied by Shen Shuyu.
Shen Shuyu’s scalp felt a bit numb. Looking at him, it didn’t seem like Wen Jiafei had a fever; instead, it looked a bit like his rut had arrived.
He pulled back his hand. Wen Jiafei panicked for a moment, instinctively wanting to follow Shen Shuyu’s hand. Shen Shuyu took a deep breath. “Get up first.”
Only then did he notice that the current posture of the two of them was a bit awkward.
Shen Shuyu scrambled up from the floor and looked down at Wen Jiafei from above, repeating, “Get up.”
Only then did Wen Jiafei slowly scramble up. But after getting up, he instinctively wanted to lean closer to Shen Shuyu. However, upon meeting those eyes and seemingly sensing that Shen Shuyu wasn’t very happy right now, he restrained himself and stood in place. Yet his face was filled with grievance, as if the moment Shen Shuyu said another harsh word, he would burst into tears.
Were Alphas in their rut always this sensitive?
To be honest, Shen Shuyu had only properly seen an Alpha’s rut once, which was Shen Yisi’s time. However, his brother seemed to have retained a sliver of reason, whereas Wen Jiafei now seemed to have lost all rationality.
Shen Shuyu recalled the things Yue Cheng had brought over that day—inhibitors.
Yes, inhibitors.
Fortunately, the hotel had them. These five-star hotels equipped almost every room with things for Alphas and Omegas. Shen Shuyu had thought they were redundant when he first moved in, but now it seemed the hotel was truly thoughtful.
He said, “Stay right here. I’m going to get something.”
Shen Shuyu turned around, but he ignored the fact that an Alpha in their rut has a certain delay in processing words and actions around them. They only recognized the person they had acknowledged.
So, seeing Shen Shuyu turn to leave, Wen Jiafei didn’t think twice and immediately clung to him again. He embraced Shen Shuyu from behind again, his tone cautious yet unable to hide the sob in his voice: “Don’t leave me, please.”
This was the only sentence Wen Jiafei had spoken tonight.
He had said it when Shen Shuyu entered, and now he said it again.
Don’t leave him.
Shen Shuyu looked down at the two hands Wen Jiafei had wrapped around his waist. It seemed he was using all his strength to hold him. He could feel the body of the person behind him trembling.
Wen Jiafei was afraid.
In this moment, Shen Shuyu suddenly understood why Wen Jiafei was afraid.
His gland had been damaged for so many years; he had never experienced a single rut. After finally having his gland healed and undergoing a secondary differentiation, he found himself in a strange environment, filled with the unknown and unease.
He could only hold tightly onto the only person he was familiar with.
Shen Shuyu stared at the hand at his waist and finally slowly pried his hands away. Despite how hard the boy seemed to be holding on, he easily moved his hands away.
Shen Shuyu took a deep breath. He turned around to look at the person behind him and said, “Wen Jiafei, calm down. Don’t do things you’ll regret after you wake up.”
Wen Jiafei’s eyes turned even redder. His gaze was fixed intently on Shen Shuyu’s moving red lips, and he asked back, “Only he can?”
“What?” Shen Shuyu hadn’t registered who the “he” in Wen Jiafei’s mouth was when in the next second, he felt a softness on his lips.
His eyes widened, and his brain stalled completely.
Wen Jiafei was kissing him.
