Chapter 39: Red Pandas Like Burying Poop… (First Update)
“The relationship is so good it couldn’t be better! Every day he takes Bingbing to eat good food and have fun; they’re incredibly happy. Oh, by the way, Little Bear even calls him ‘Brother’…”
Shen Zejue snatched the conversation and spoke a long, smug string.
While subtly drawing hatred for his arch-rival, he took the opportunity to annoy the red-haired guy in front of him.
Let the two of them pull at each other’s hair themselves.
That way, the little chubby cub would still be the best of friends with him.
I’m so brilliant!
Shen Zejue silently gave himself a thumbs-up.
Only Shen Lin was still thinking: Is my relationship with Tarriel really that good?
It was another weekend morning, and Shen Zejue ran excitedly to the small castle to wait for the little chubby cub to wake up.
Shen Zejue had been tossing and turning, unable to sleep, fearing that Li Heng might say something else to move his little chubby cub. If he didn’t watch him, the little chubby cub might run off with the red-haired guy.
So he simply got up and ran to occupy the little chubby cub’s bed.
“Haaa~”
Shen Lin opened his small mouth and yawned, rubbing his eyes with his chubby hands.
His large apricot eyes were watery, and with a soft little face, he was soft and adorable.
Shen Zejue was struck by the cub’s cute appearance.
He stepped forward eagerly, intending to help the cub get dressed.
However, the imagination was beautiful, but reality gave him a sound slap.
After fumbling for a long time, he hadn’t put the clothes on properly and instead had annoyed Shen Lin.
A chubby hand slapped straight onto Shen Zejue’s large face, pushing him away.
“A’mei~”
Shen Zejue saw it clearly—the little chubby cub actually despised him!
Not happy!
Shen Zejue squatted in the corner of the wall, drawing circles in dejection.
A’mei suppressed her laughter as she stepped forward, quickly dressing him, nimbly combing the explosive pink fur, and then following through with the washing and tooth-brushing process, taking less than ten minutes.
Compared to Shen Zejue spending over twenty minutes just fumbling with clothes, A’mei was divinely fast.
Shen Zejue felt another burst of frustration.
Shen Zejue’s eyes darted around, and he enthusiastically followed behind A’mei and the others to seriously observe and learn, even asking A’mei questions when there was something he didn’t understand.
A’mei didn’t want to say anything. First, Marshal Shen had snatched her job, and now there was another Third Young Master. Would she still have a chance to show her face before the young master in the future?
But she couldn’t withstand the Third Young Master’s thick skin, and A’mei finally told him.
Satisfied, Shen Zejue hoisted the fragrant little chubby cub onto his shoulder and ran in a flurry to the dining room for breakfast.
Second Sister Shen had heard the two brothers were going out to play and only told them to be careful on the road.
It was just that when the two went out, the number of guards behind them had doubled.
Tarriel arrived early at the gate of the Shen residence and picked up the two brothers in his spaceship.
Marking the coordinates, they headed for Gulf Island.
Gulf Island was located above the main star city, not very far away; it took two hours for the spaceship to get there.
Looking down from the sky, Gulf Island was like a crescent moon, with buildings scattered across the island.
Though called an island, its land area was not small.
Gulf Island was formed by a series of small islets connected in a crescent moon shape. Each islet was separated by a moderate distance, which served well to prevent mutual disturbance.
The azure ocean sparkled with starlight under the sunlight, and occasionally groups of primitive-species seabirds flew by; it was a place with pleasant scenery.
Just as they got off the spaceship, a group of people stood outside the castle, led by a slightly aged man.
The old man had red hair. Because of his age, the red hair looked a bit dim, but he had combed it meticulously. He had a smile on his face, yet there was fatigue in his eyes that couldn’t be hidden.
“Grandfather!”
Tarriel took the initiative to greet the old man upon seeing him.
The moment Shen Zejue got off the spaceship and saw the old man, he immediately understood that this was not a simple outing.
He glanced at Tarriel and indeed saw an unnatural expression flash across the guy’s face.
He let out a tch in his heart and said nothing more.
Tarriel felt uncomfortable under Shen Zejue’s gaze, his face burning.
Initially approaching the cub and being good to him—it was just because the cub looked pleasing to his eye and he simply wanted to spend money on him; it didn’t involve too many interests.
But thinking of the industry his grandfather had worked so hard to build being extensively swallowed by that man, and his grandfather’s back becoming more and more hunched as he grew frantic every day dealing with the suppression, a burst of rage and a hint of guilt surged in his heart.
It was he and his mother who had burdened his grandfather.
If not for him and his mother, his grandfather might have long ago had a falling out with that man and wouldn’t have allowed him to grow strong enough to turn around and swallow his grandfather’s industry.
He had no ability to help his grandfather and could only watch helplessly as his grandfather’s spirits became more dejected day by day, with several strands of white hair appearing at his temples.
However, a turning point had arrived quickly.
Being called as a parent again after fighting with Shen Zejue, he had seen that man’s wariness toward Shen Zejue’s sister. A flash of inspiration hit him—he seemed to have thought of a way to help his grandfather!
Although Marshal Shen had been sent to the Blood Abyss and the Shen family seemed to be failing, a starved camel is still bigger than a horse.
Compared to Ta Liyao’s identity as a merchant, the Shen family was still a massive power.
Eldest Young Master Shen was a standout among the younger generation, awarded the rank of Lieutenant General at a young age.
Second Miss Shen was a member of the Federation Council; he heard her status was rivaling the Ten Great Elders, with a future that was limitless.
Since that man had latched onto the Fifth Council Elder, why shouldn’t his grandfather seek refuge with the Shen family?
It just so happened that Councilor Shen and the Fifth Council Elder were at odds.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
For his grandfather’s sake, Tarriel was willing to bow his head to his arch-rival.
At worst, he wouldn’t fight back in the future and would just let him hit him.
“Welcome the two Young Masters Shen to our home.”
The old man strode forward with a hearty smile.
As he got closer, Shen Lin discovered the old man was very tall and strong.
He didn’t have the looseness of an old man but instead possessed a body of firm muscle—the kind that could punch someone into a wall so they couldn’t be pulled out.
Tarriel’s grandfather, Heri, was not small and thin like other red squirrel beastmen; he was more like a mutant among red squirrel beastmen—not only tall and sturdy but also very orderly in doing business.
Other merchants either relied on Star Clan powers or hugged the thighs of the clans to become their money bags.
Heri was different. Relying on his good popularity, he had pulled a group of people together to start an interstellar “caravan” business.
He led the Red Squirrel clan and a group of brothers to carry goods and sell them to various planets.
In particular, some planets with backward technology or undeveloped primitive planets.
The beastmen there, besides being able to fill their stomachs, had no technological development and faced many inconveniences in life; Heri’s merchant fleet happened to meet those needs.
Gradually, the business expanded, and wealth came rolling in.
Heri was also a hero of his generation when he was young. If not for his only daughter, he wouldn’t have given up the “caravan” business and been willing to settle in the main star city to be a wealthy man.
Shen Zejue had looked into Tarriel’s family background and had likewise seen Heri’s information.
Honestly, he quite admired this old man who truly built himself up from nothing.
He was brave and daring.
If he didn’t enter the military in the future, he would probably go and be a “smuggler.”
There was no other reason—it truly made money.
Just seeing that someone could build a castle for his grandson on the “inch-of-land-is-an-inch-of-gold” Gulf Island showed that there was a lot of profit to be made in this line of work.
When Shen Zejue looked at this old man with a hearty smile again, he immediately felt a bit more favorable.
“Hello, Mr. Heri. I am Tarriel’s classmate. I am here to visit his home today; sorry for the intrusion.”
Shen Lin imitated his third brother’s speech and called out cutely: “He-lo~”
Shen Lin didn’t know what politeness was. He just followed behind his third brother and imitated whatever he did.
Shen Zejue glanced at the cub and let out a heavy sigh of relief in his heart.
Fortunately, his second sister had strictly ordered him not to show some of his bad habits, lest the cub follow suit.
Fortunately, he listened, otherwise he would have lost face in someone else’s house.
He would definitely be hung up and beaten by his second sister when he returned!
Heri had originally been apprehensive about meeting the two brothers of the Shen family.
After all, their father was the War God Shen, and their two older siblings were a Lieutenant General and a Councilor. In particular, Councilor Shen dared to challenge the Fifth Council Elder; the whole family was not to be trifled with.
He hadn’t expected his young grandson to be able to connect with the Shen family.
Although the ones visiting were the two youngest young masters of the Shen family, the power represented behind them was not small.
Even if those above intended to suppress the Shen family’s power, they wouldn’t act now.
If they dared to act out, the Shen family could simply go online and cry, and those beastmen who were grateful to Marshal Shen would dare to self-detonate, dragging the upper-level people down with them.
The scenes from the District 11 aviation port are still fresh in memory.
This was also Heri’s confidence in wanting the Shen family as a backer.
Of course, he knew that children of a family of fierce beasts would carry some arrogance. He was already prepared to be submissive and cede more than half of his assets to protect his industry.
To his surprise, upon meeting and talking, the Third Young Master Shen—who often fought with his own grandson—didn’t have the common problems of a young master and instead greeted him politely.
In particular, the youngest one had a soft, milky voice and an obedient, cute appearance, which instantly made Tarriel’s grandfather think of his daughter when she was a child; his gaze couldn’t help but soften.
As for why he didn’t look like his grandson as a child, Tarriel’s grandfather expressed that by looking at how Tarriel was always called by parents now, one could see what kind of cub he was when he was small.
Beastmen cubs couldn’t control their bloodline power when they were small; the house was like facing a tribulation every day.
Heri thought of his grandson’s house-demolishing behavior as a child and had many points he wanted to complain about.
The two Shen brothers walked into the castle under Heri’s guidance.
Once inside, Shen Lin was attracted by the massive floor-to-ceiling windows before him.
The castle did not have meticulously carved architectural walls or ornamental screens; instead, it was very spacious inside, with large transparent windows in a semi-open mode.
As long as you stepped into the castle and looked out, the water sparkled, and the sea and sky were of the same color.
Gazing at the boundless blue ocean, one’s heart instantly broadened.
Shen Lin broke free from his third brother’s hand and ran out with small, pitter-patter steps.
Stepping on the golden sand, smelling the faint fishy scent of the sea in the air, and with the warm sunlight shining overhead, it was very comfortable.
He frolicked on the beach.
“Ge-ge~”
The cub’s joyful laughter spread to every corner of the beach.
Shen Lin poked out his small butt and dug into the sand, and as if inspired, he switched to his cub form. His two small paws felt the comfort of the sand passing through them, and his small ears twitched happily.
It wasn’t that he wanted to play, but seeing the sandy ground, he couldn’t control his paws.
Shen Lin thought: It must be the red panda genes at work—seeing sandy ground makes me want to bury poop.
