I Heard I’m the Only Healing Cub in the Interstellar Chapter 58

Chapter 58: The Cub’s Little Slap… (Second Update)

“Run!”

Hearing Shen Lin’s voice, Tali’er didn’t even ask questions; he got up and bolted.

From Shen Zejue’s position, he could clearly see the pink gas emitting from under the bed. Almost instinctively, he ran toward Shen Lin.

The pink gas evaporated into the air, spreading a sickly-sweet scent that drifted into the noses of the people in the room.

“Roar!”

A violent surge of energy rippled outward.

Tali’er was the first to mutate. His eyes became bloodshot, his arms transformed into wings, and a look of struggle appeared in his eyes.

He tried to control his body, but failed.

When the last trace of humanity vanished, a massive red bird appeared in the room.

The giant bird’s eyes were crimson. It let out a hoarse cry, its wings scraping against the air, suspending clusters of scorching flames around it.

Just as it lunged at Shen Lin, a Snow Wolf suddenly leaped out from the side, planting itself firmly in front of him.

“Awooo!”

The Snow Wolf faced off against the Red Osprey.

Biting snow.

Scorching flames.

When ice and fire clashed, layers of mist condensed in the room.

It started pouring rain indoors.

Caught completely off guard, Shen Lin was drenched from head to toe, looking like a drowned rat.

The room had already reached its absolute limit withstanding the flamingo’s berserk state. Now, battered by two S-grade fierce beasts, the mechanical walls cracked with a sickening snap.

The crack widened, and widened further.

It tore through the entire mechanical wall, continuing to spread outward.

Rumble!

The ceiling gave way first, a large chunk crashing down.

The lingering light of the setting sun spilled in from above, landing on the tall, majestic Snow Wolf with its ears pricked high.

Shen Lin was just about to use his healing energy to soothe their rioting bloodlines, but when the Red Osprey had charged at him, the Snow Wolf jumped out to block the attack.

Shen Lin froze in place, his eyes locked onto the Snow Wolf.

Especially when he saw the tuft of golden fur at the tip of the Snow Wolf’s tail, his heart gave a violent tremor.

“03”, Monster Brother…

“You little thing, you look human but you’re just like a little monster.”

“You little booger, what can you even do? Just stay obediently behind me and don’t hold me back.”

“Little thing, run quickly, don’t look back!”

Rumble!

The building collapsed. In the blazing ruins, a massive Snow Wolf let out a long howl. Taking one last look in the cub’s direction, it plunged into the sea of fire without hesitation.

Crack!

The building tilted.

Biting snow whipped into a hurricane.

It swept through Shen Lin’s hair.

A layer of frost formed on his coat, only to be quickly melted by the flames.

Shen Lin’s face was completely covered in rain.

The sunset clouds trembled violently, countless patches of light flickered, and the sky instantly went black.

As the sky plunged into darkness, countless beastmen looked up. The evening glow was gone, replaced only by massive clusters of stars and the twin planetary rings outside the Prime Star.

The Alpha Medical Center tilted.

Beastmen screamed and fled the building.

Atop the roof, two fierce beasts, one red, one white, stood locked in a standoff.

A drop of blood slid down the sharp beak, hitting the ground and kicking up a speck of dust.

The Snow Wolf spat a tuft of wine-red feathers from its mouth.

The feathers fluttered to the ground. The Red Osprey’s blood-red eyes tracked the feathers, its gaze finally resting on a bald patch on its own chest. It let out a furious screech.

The Snow Wolf curled its lips, baring its fangs, its blood-red eyes glinting with provocation.

Predictably enraged, the Red Osprey let out a resonant cry, its wings engulfed in flames as it lunged at the Snow Wolf.

The Snow Wolf bounded lightly, leaving a trail of snow, and leaped behind it, opening its massive jaws to bite down viciously on the Red Osprey’s wing.

Relying on the Ghost Vine’s ability to endlessly propagate, Shen Lin crawled out of the rubble. Ribbons of light lashed out rapidly toward the two fighting beasts.

Caught off guard, the two beasts were yanked by the light ribbons and came crashing down.

The moment they hit the ground, the impact, combined with the chaotic fluctuations of their bloodlines, caused the building to tremble violently and groan.

Shen Lin manipulated the ribbons to bind the berserk Red Osprey.

The Red Osprey tried to screech, but its beak was bound shut too.

It looked like a giant silkworm cocoon.

The Snow Wolf was smarter. It channeled its blizzard energy into the light ribbons, freezing them solid, then shook its body. The frozen ribbons snapped into pieces and were shaken off.

Just as it thought its escape plan had succeeded and tried to slip away, even more light ribbons surged out, wrapping tightly around the Snow Wolf.

The more the Snow Wolf struggled, the tighter they got. It bared its teeth at Shen Lin, only to be slapped in the face by the Ghost Vine.

The Snow Wolf shook its head, dazed. It tried to bare its teeth again, but the light ribbons morphed into a pink hammer and bonked it right on the head.

With a loud Bang—

Sounded like a good, solid head.

——

Shen Zejue woke up to a throbbing pain in the back of his head. In his grogginess, he saw Bingbing’s face.

The usually soft, adorable face had been replaced by a serious expression.

“Bingbing?”

“Shhh~”

Shen Lin once again clamped his little hand over Shen Zejue’s mouth.

The cub didn’t know his own strength. With a sharp smack, Shen Zejue was instantly slapped fully awake from his stupor.

Looking past the cub, he saw Tali’er lying unconscious not far away.

His brain was currently rebooting.

“Hiss!”

The pain shot through the back of his head again. He instinctively reached back, feeling a large lump. When he pressed it, sharp agony flared, making him grimace.

Brain reboot successful. His memories flooded back, and he remembered the pink gas seeping from under the bed. He immediately sat up, grabbing Bingbing in a panic to check his body.

“Bingbing, did you inhale any of that gas? Do you feel sick anywhere?”

Shen Lin shook his head. “S’fine, it doesn’t work on me~”

“That must have been a restricted inducer drug, specifically designed for beastmen. Even Tali’er and I couldn’t resist it. Are you really okay?”

“Dun b’lieve, forget it~”

Seeing the cub pout, Shen Zejue quickly apologized, “Ah, Bingbing, don’t be mad. Third Brother was just worried about you.”

Shen Lin reached out with his chubby hand and patted Shen Zejue’s solid chest, comforting him, “S’okay rawr~”

Seeing the cub full of energy, seemingly completely unaffected, Shen Zejue finally let out a sigh of relief.

Shen Lin healed the last wound on his third brother’s body, withdrew his energy, and then moved over to treat Tali’er.

Tali’er woke up a few minutes later than Shen Zejue.

The moment he woke up, just like Shen Zejue, his first reaction was to suck in a breath of pain with a “Hiss.”

Then, his brain booted up.

His first priority was checking if the cub was hurt. After that, his gaze fell on Shen Zejue, who was sitting slumped against the wall.

That bastard even shot him a provocative look. He looked incredibly punchable!

Tali’er clenched his fists, touched his chest, and felt like something was missing…

Shen Lin withdrew his power and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Then, he plopped his butt onto the floor.

Today’s mission was originally just for Auntie Hela. Suddenly, the workload had tripled, adding a lot of pressure.

Fortunately, everything was resolved perfectly.

Shen Lin was so exhausted he lay flat on the floor, not moving an inch.

Panic seized Shen Zejue. He rushed over and shook Shen Lin. “Bingbing?!”

“Smack!”

Shen Lin slapped Shen Zejue’s face and muttered, “Don’t be noisy~”

Then, he drifted off into a groggy sleep.

The slight sting on his face was nothing to Shen Zejue. He carefully gathered the cub into his arms, adjusting his posture so the little one could sleep more comfortably.

Tali’er, drained of strength, sat down next to Shen Zejue.

After a while, Tali’er finally spoke. “Tali’yao must have planted the inducer. He probably knew beforehand that Bingbing was coming, which is why he came to agitate my mother… Bingbing saved me again.”

“If he dares to harm Bingbing, Tali’yao must die!”

Shen Zejue’s expression turned unusually cold.

Tali’er said nothing. He leaned back, resting his head on his arms, staring at the slowly rotating twin planetary rings.

His biological father wanted to kill him, while strangers saved his life time and time again.

How ironic!

——

Creak—

The building swayed, emitting a nerve-wracking groan from within.

Tali’er bolted upright, locking eyes with Shen Zejue.

“Not good, the building is coming down.”

Rumble!

With a deafening crash, the Alpha Medical Center collapsed in plain sight, kicking up a massive cloud of dust into the sky.

Amidst the smoke, a large red bird seized the opportunity to fly out.

——

“Hey, did you hear?”

“Got some new gossip? Let me have a taste.”

“Sector 16 of the Prime Star collapsed. I heard it was because two S-grade fierce beasts got into a fight and brought it down.”

“Which two beasts? What happened? Spit it out! Stopping halfway through a good gossip session is torture!”

“Don’t rush me, I’ll tell you. It was the third son of Marshal Shen. Word is, a restricted inducer triggered a bloodline riot. The Shen family has already issued a wanted poster and is hunting down the culprit!”

Sponsored

“Who the hell has the guts to attack Marshal Shen’s kid? If I ever see him, I’ll beat the shit out of him! Marshal Shen is our great hero. What an ungrateful bastard, daring to harm Marshal Shen’s widow!”

“The wanted list is up on the Star Network. I saw it. Looks like a decent guy on the outside, but acts like a complete monster.”

Aboard an Earth Star merchant ship, two beastmen had their heads huddled together, whispering as they scrolled through their star-computers.

They had no idea that the fugitive they were discussing was sitting right next to them.

Tali’yao pulled his hat low. One eye was covered by an eyepatch, while his remaining good eye glinted with hatred.

Just then, two beastmen near the ship’s exit stood up and pushed through the crowd, heading straight toward Tali’yao.

Tali’yao kept his face blank, his right hand subtly drifting toward his waist.

The two were just passing by. Noticing Tali’yao bundled up so tightly, they threw a few curious glances his way.

After they walked past, Tali’yao exhaled, releasing his grip on his energy gun, and instinctively tugged at his hat brim.

However, right at that moment, a heavy hand clamped onto his shoulder.

“Sir, routine inspection. Please show us your ID.”

Tali’yao turned his head and saw two beastmen in security inspector uniforms standing behind him.

Next to them stood the Earth Star merchant, a placating smile plastered on his face. “Officers, we Earth Star beastmen are just honest businessmen trying to make a hard-earned living. I swear we don’t have the fugitive you’re looking for!”

The space station security squad had immediately started checking all arriving and departing ships upon receiving the wanted list. They had heard similar spiels on almost every ship they boarded, their ears practically growing calluses. Not wanting to waste breath, they maintained stoic expressions.

Seeing this, the Earth Star merchant tactfully shut his mouth.

“Sir, routine inspection. Please show us your ID.”

The squad member repeated his request.

The squad leader narrowed his eyes, examining the heavily bundled man, and suddenly said, “Take off your hat and turn around so we can see.”

The man turned, removed his hat, and revealed his face.

“ID.”

The squad leader compared the ID to the wanted poster.

The man on the poster was handsome. The man standing in front of him had a bulbous nose, puffy eyes, and a very ordinary face.

“Your ID says you’re a Lion beastman. Why doesn’t your scent match?”

“Hehe, officer, I just had bionic surgery on the Prime Star. I’m still in the adjustment period, so my scent has faded. You wouldn’t notice it unless you sniffed carefully. If you don’t believe me, sir, you can come closer and smell.”

“No need.”

The squad leader scanned the ID and moved on to check the next passenger.

And right at that moment, the two passengers who had just walked past Tali’er suddenly made their move.

“Inspectors acting under orders! Bystanders step back!”
