Part 2
While everyone was guessing the cubs’ inner thoughts, Yun Yinghui said, “My father is contacting me. You guys look after the babies for me for a bit.” As he spoke, under the rabbit cubâs confused gaze, he placed him in Jia Qingwanâs hands.
The rabbit cub looked at Yun Yinghui: “Da?”
Yun Yinghui stroked the rabbit cub and said, “Little Jiaojiao, be good and keep an eye on Taotao. Uncle will be back in a moment, alright?”
Rabbit cub: “Da?”
Yun Yinghui stroked the rabbit cub once more before heading toward the ward door.
The rabbit cubâs eyes immediately filled with tears. Its tiny body did a little leap, jumping straight onto Yun Yinghui. Its tiny paws and feet clung tightly to him.
Yun Yinghui hurriedly caught the rabbit cub and placed it back in Jia Qingwanâs hands. “Jiaojiao, be good. Uncle will be right back.”
Tears plopped down from the rabbit cubâs eyes.
Yun Yinghui quickened his pace and walked out of the ward.
The rabbit cub cried piteously as Nangong Qing and the others surrounded him to coax him.
Suddenly…
Truly, it all happened in an instant.
At that moment, the rabbit cub was crying so heart-wrenchingly that Nangong Qing, Jia Qingwan, Jin Taichu, and the others didn’t notice the situation with the egg cub inside the incubator.
The incubatorâs glass door suddenly opened.
The egg cub rolled and rolled, silently exiting the incubator.
And then…
By the time everyone realized what was happening, the sobbing rabbit cub made a precise leap, its tiny body clinging directly onto the egg cub.
Everyone froze for a second.
It was already too late. After a strong spatial fluctuation, the egg cub vanished, carrying the rabbit cub with it.
After a moment of silence in the room, Shan Junyuâs spatial ability expanded, enveloping the entire hospital. “Follow them.”
Simultaneously, the ability warriors within the Imperial Capitalâs First Hospital all sensed his presence. Some grumbled and cursed, while others were unwilling to cause trouble and remained silent.
Jia Qingwanâs eyelids twitched. “…Holy grass.”
Nangong Qing: “Crap.”
They thought to themselves: the rabbit cub and the egg cub were practically a perfect match.
At this moment, they already had a premonition that Yun Yingzhi… no, not just Yun Yingzhi, but all of them, were destined to worry themselves sick over these two restless cubs in the future.
As they were thinking this, Yun Yinghui sent a communication to Nangong Qing.
Nangong Qing answered it on speaker.
In the video projection, Yun Yinghuiâs face was cold as he asked, “What happened?”
Jia Qingwan frowned and said, “Jiaojiao was crying the whole time, so we let our guard down regarding Taotao. We don’t know how Taotao got out of the incubator, but Jiaojiao must have reached an agreement with him. He jumped onto Taotao immediately, and then…” After a pause, she added, “Taotao carried Jiaojiao away, and they both ran off.”
Yun Yinghui took a deep breath and said, “Weâll track the spatial fluctuations.”
Nangong Qing said, “The two cubs probably want to find Yingzhi. Maybe we should go to the Star Glory Competition arena.”
Yun Yinghui paused, then said, “Taotao doesn’t really know the way.”
Led by Yun Yinghui, everyone set out together to search for the two troublesome cubs.
The rabbit cub clung tightly to the egg cub, occasionally giving it a lick.
The egg cub shuddered but continued to control its ability, racing toward the direction of the familiar scent.
Every time a spatial jump ended, the rabbit cub, having absolutely no sense of its own limits, would start gesticulating and “ordering” the egg cub on where to move next.
Obviously, the egg cub didn’t follow the rabbit cubâs directions, making the rabbit cub a bit angry as it let out several “ao” sounds.
In the blink of an eye, the egg cub carried the rabbit cub onto a busy pedestrian street.
The two cubs were simply too small.
At first, no one noticed them, until the rabbit cub let out an angry “ao” at the egg cub, drawing people’s attention.
Someone in the crowd gasped and said, “Look at that little rabbit holding an egg! So cute!”
Following that gasp, the rabbit cub, who had been “ao-ao-ing” at the egg cub, immediately shut its mouth.
“Does someone own them? They must have just been born; they’re so, so tiny.”
Seeing so many people, the rabbit cub felt a bit scared. Its grip on the egg cub tightened, and it gave a low “da.”
The egg cub carrying the rabbit cub hopped twice, then used its spatial ability to teleport them away.
Everyone froze, unable to believe what they had just seen. Someone in the crowd asked, “Wait, what just happened?”
“Was that tiny rabbit cub already using spatial abilities?”
“Is that a real rabbit, or a cub’s second form?”
“Is it a rabbit cub that awakened spatial abilities?”
While the crowd whispered, the egg cub teleported the rabbit cub into a deserted alleyway.
Seeing no strangers, the rabbit cub immediately lost its fear and began ordering the egg cub around again.
The egg cub endured it for a bit, but finally unwilling to listen to the rabbit cub, the two of them rolled into a ball, fighting tooth and nail.
The rabbit cub lost a few strands of fur and looked quite bedraggled, but in the end, it won.
The rabbit cub let out a “milky-fierce” (nai xiong) “ao” and licked the egg cub.
The egg cub bounced twice, then continued to teleport through space.
Almost the instant they left, Shan Junyu arrived at the spot where the two cubs had disappeared, accompanied by Yun Yinghui.
Shan Junyu said, “…Itâs not that Iâm incompetent, itâs just that Taotao really doesn’t take the common path.” After a pause, he added, “He always accurately teleports through no-fly zones. Heâs small and doesn’t know better, so he can pass through freely. But if I teleport toward those areas, itâs equivalent to provoking the major clans.”
Yun Yinghui took a deep breath and said, “Keep following.”
Suddenly, Shan Junyu looked at Yun Yinghui with an extremely complex expression.
Yun Yinghuiâs eyelids jumped, giving him a bad premonition.
Shan Junyu said, “…Taotao took Jiaojiao into the Imperial Palace.”
Yun Yinghui: “…”
Shan Junyu added, “There are many spatial ability users in the palace. They probably…”
They probably couldn’t get out.
Yun Yinghui paused, then said, “Iâll go to the palace to collect them.”
Shan Junyu: “Iâll go with you.”
Under the rabbit cubâs blind directions, the egg cub teleported them both into a gazebo.
Almost the instant the two cubs entered the gazebo, fluctuations rippled through the surrounding space, and every inch of space was sealed.
In this area, the egg cub absolutely could not use its spatial ability.
The egg cub bounced twice in panic and nudged the rabbit cub.
The rabbit cub blinked its obsidian eyes, sniffed, and hugged the egg cub tightly with its tiny paws and feet.
The two cubs shivered together.
Not far away, a group of ability warriors in guard uniforms approached the two cubs, their footsteps rhythmic and synchronized.
The rabbit cub hugged the egg cub tighter, its shivering becoming even more pronounced.
Finally, the group of ability warriors surrounded the two cubs. The leader asked, “…The intruders are these two tiny things?”
The rabbit cub hugged the egg cub as tears plopped down, looking exceptionally pitiable.
The egg cub nudged the rabbit cub as if silently comforting him.
The rabbit cub cried even harder.
And then…
The egg cub actually managed to perform one more spatial jump within the sealed space, carrying the rabbit cub with it.
One of the guards froze and said, “What an impressive little fellow; he actually broke through my spatial seal.” Having said that, he gave chase in the direction the cubs had fled.
He wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but recalling the two cubs from moments ago, the guards felt that the rabbit and the egg gave off an exceptionally pitiful vibe.
Wait?
That wasn’t right. Why did they feel that way about a goose egg? Wasn’t that the rabbit cubâs rations?
A rabbit cub that carried its rations with it?
With that mental image, everyone subtly felt that the white egg seemed even more pitiable.
