I Said It Was a Catfish Photo ABO Chapter 42.2

Part 2

Yu Shi smiled. “You are the smartest AI on the Blue Star; that day will come.”

9527 was excited all night because of that sentence.

It began to understand Yu Zhizhi and felt that Yu Shi was the most capable, prettiest, and kindest Omega in the world. It didn’t have a heart, but felt current rushing through its body, as if it had returned to the day it was manufactured.

It tossed and turned on the bedboard, thinking that when it got back, it must tell Yu Zhizhi: Your Papa is truly wonderful.

A few days later, the Aten 1 officially entered the airspace of the companion star.

The Fourth Zone lay beneath them.

And several days ago, in the Seventh Zone of another companion star, a small-scale fierce hot war was taking place.

The Falcon Regiment was overseen by two commanders and had been engaging the allied forces for over an hour. The enemy’s offensive didn’t slow down at all; instead, it became increasingly fierce.

Sun Xiaoyun said angrily, “Half of this brigade is actually androids! Old Master Tang was right—these things are killing machines. Even if they’re beaten to death, they can crawl back up a few minutes later. They’re exactly like zombies!”

About ten minutes after the battle started, they noticed many red dots go out only to light up again. Only then did they realize the enemy wasn’t a simple combat brigade.

Song Zhaohui said, “An hour has passed and the enemy has only lost ninety people, while we’ve lost five mechas and thirty-five thousand rounds of ammunition. This is the most grueling battle I’ve seen… Boss, this won’t do. We can’t afford the ammunition; they’re using us for free experiments.”

Nie Qing said into the walkie-talkie to Tao Mingwan, “Open the warehouse. Deploy twenty ‘Wanderer W3’ units, continue to increase firepower, and synchronize the situation with the embassy. Have them report to the Sovereign immediately.”

“Yes.” Tao Mingwan, at the logistics commanding position, replied.

The Wanderer was known as the “battlefield meat grinder,” equipped with laser cannons, white phosphorus powder, and other highly lethal weapons. The W3 was an even more effective tool against nano-mechas. Now the androids were in for a rough time.

“Strange.” Xie Ren was operating the central control and suddenly frowned.

“What’s wrong?” Nie Qing asked.

Xie Ren said, “I’ve fought androids before. That batch, whether in reaction speed, strategic thinking, or combat capability, was more than a little worse than this batch. Normally, their upgrades couldn’t be this fast.”

A scout ran in from outside, panting, “Marshal, I led a search within fifty kilometers of the surroundings but didn’t find the command center you mentioned!”

Nie Qing’s face sank. Xie Ren was slightly shocked: “Have even the distances been upgraded?”

He recalled the possibility Yu Shi had hypothesized.

“Brother Ren, the gun turret has been breached!” Sun Xiaoyun shouted.

Everyone looked up at the screen. Several gun turrets on the iron walls had been shot down, which meant the defense above had failed.

Nie Qing made a decision quickly: “Launch drone bombing.”

Xie Ren immediately entered the command. Over a hundred drones took off from behind the gun turrets and began indiscriminate bombing of the attackers. Red numbers scrolled at the bottom of the screen, showing the amount of ammunition consumed.

the Falcon Regiment had brought a year’s worth of ammunition to prevent sudden battles, but they hadn’t expected it to be a drone battle from the start. The consumption was staggering.

Nie Qing’s brow was tightly furrowed as he notified logistics for resupply again.

Xie Ren cast the drones beyond a hundred kilometers, searching carefully. Finally, at a hundred and twenty kilometers, he found a patch of hills.

His gaze turned sharp: “Found it. The commander is here!”

Nie Qing came over to check and shook his head: “No. The distance is too far. Secondary command won’t be that far. Besides, androids haven’t been in development for long; they can’t accept secondary command.”

“I have a friend who is a weapons expert. He said secondary command distances grow in integer multiples. If nothing goes wrong, the primary command center is at sixty kilometers… but the nearest sixty kilometers to us is the Theo Embassy in the Seventh Zone. It’s not convenient to search there, so it was missed just now.”

Xie Ren magnified the map: “Based on past combat experience, this patch of hills is an excellent commanding area.”

Nie Qing knew this too, but hesitated: “The terrain is indeed suitable for a command post, but the distance is still far; going back and forth will waste time. Besides, you can’t be sure if the so-called secondary command really exists.”

Xie Ren said decisively, “I’ll know if I go try, won’t I?”

Song Zhaohui immediately objected: “No. The risk for you to go alone is too great. What if there’s an ambush…”

“I’ll take the ‘Guardian’ with me,” Xie Ren said. “After changing forms, its speed can reach six hundred kilometers per hour. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”

Nie Qing pondered for a moment and shook his head: “One Guardian won’t do much. We don’t know what the enemy wants to do. I have to ensure your safety. Even if we lose the chance for verification, I cannot let you take such a risk alone.”

He said gravely to everyone, “The allied forces are only hitting our equipment and haven’t injured anyone, which means they don’t want to formally declare war. Hold on a bit longer and wait for news from the embassy.”

Xie Ren was silent. After a good while, he said, “Uncle Nie, you didn’t have one phone call with my dad and then go back to how you were three years ago—afraid I’d lose a single hair and not being able to account to him, right?”

the command room fell silent as everyone looked at them.

Nie Qing was instantly enraged, pointing at his nose: “What nonsense are you talking, brat? Why would I be wary of your dad? When you were injured three years ago, I said I wouldn’t give you special treatment. Every day you’re in the Falcon Regiment, you are my soldier. This has nothing to do with your dad!”

“Then let me go. I’m certain—that is the secondary commanding position.” Xie Ren’s tone was firm. “I believe my friend; his deduction is beyond doubt.”

Nie Qing said anxiously, “So what if it’s a commanding position? Only you few commanders can operate the ‘Guardian.’ Are you going to go and die with one mecha?!”

Xie Ren opened his hand, revealing a stud earring. He raised an eyebrow and said, “Who said I’m only taking one mecha?”

Sun Xiaoyun took a look and was very surprised: “This is that micro-robot… Wait, it can control mechas?”

The others were also shocked. Nie Qing said coldly, “I’ve never seen a robot that can control mechas. Even if it can, you can take at most two. Xie Ren, I don’t have time to argue about this with you now…”

Xie Ren took off his headset and gave the command: “7072, connect to the ‘Guardians.'”

A few seconds later, the indicator lights on the chests of twenty Guardians lit up one after another.

The command room was silent; everyone was dazed.

Sun Xiaoyun murmured, “Wow. To be able to connect to so many units simultaneously.”

Song Zhaohui slapped his thigh. “Where did this robot come from? Is it the latest result from the Third Academy? Holy crap—if these can be mass-produced, then drone combat will be invincible! Why spend high costs researching androids!”

Nie Qing’s expression was complex. Finally, he waved his hand, letting Tao Mingwan take over Xie Ren’s commanding position.

Ten minutes later, mechas of various forms bypassed the base and advanced toward the destination a hundred and twenty kilometers away at lightning speed.

Gunfire and shells streaked across the nano-coating, leaving scorched damage that quickly restored to its original state seconds later.

The upgraded Guardians were practically invincible, sweeping through the battlefield with irresistible force.

Xie Ren sat inside the Koenigsegg. The wind whistled past the window, and he felt bursts of force against his back. He picked up his communicator, only to find there was no signal because he was flying too fast.

Yu Zhizhi said grumpily, “I’m working hard to drive twenty cars, yet you’re slacking off and playing with your communicator! Also, why do I have to change into this black car? It looks like a bunch of big-headed flies—not pretty at all.”

Xie Ren sneered, “You don’t know how expensive these ‘big-headed flies’ are. No man can resist a sports car. Also, I’m not playing with the communicator—I’m trying to contact your Papa, little Yu Zhizhi.”

“You’re a scumbag!” Yu Zhizhi was angry. “You usually call me Zhizhi, but just now you called me 7072 so coldly. And you lost my Papa—waaa, where did my Papa go?”

Xie Ren said, “Calling someone by a nickname while showing off is weird, okay? Stop crying. I have a general idea of who took him.”

His subordinates had sent investigation data. Following Zheng Xiao’s clues, they found that the one who acquired Huanzhou Group years ago was K9 Major Qin Yin. When he saw Qin Yin’s photo, Xie Ren suddenly recalled that he had seen this Alpha.

Once was on Zhongxing Road, and once was in that private room where he had followed Yu Shi.

He gripped the steering wheel, looking at the destination that was within reach. He called out coldly, “Good girl. First solve these pieces of trash, and then come with me to bring your Papa back.”

the Koenigsegg rushed toward the hill. At the moment before reaching the foot of the hill, it transformed into a tall and majestic Guardian. The three-meter-high mecha stepped heavily onto the road, producing an earthquake-like movement.
