Mr. Shen’s Sick Obsession Chapter 61

Chapter 61: Yes, You Have No Right

As Shen Xingyu spoke, he stirred the porridge with a spoon, scooped some up, blew on it gently, and held it in front of Liang Sheng. In a rare move, he tried to coax him: “Come, open your mouth.”

Liang Sheng’s eyes were rimmed with red. He turned his head away, loathing the man’s hypocritical act. Over the years, it was exactly this kind of false affection that had led to his defeat, making his life so miserable.

“Eat a little, alright?”

Shen Xingyu pushed the spoon forward again, his voice soft. It was a rare occasion for him to lower his pride and try to soothe someone.

But this fake tenderness no longer worked on Liang Sheng. He angrily pushed the bowl out of the man’s hand, shouting with a grievance-filled sob:

“Go away! I don’t want to eat at all!”

The bowl tilted, and the scalding porridge splashed entirely over the back of Shen Xingyu’s hand. The pain made his breath hitch, but he grit his teeth, not even furrowing his brow.

Liang Sheng hadn’t expected to actually flip the bowl. He looked at the man’s reddened hand with uncertainty, wanting to say something but swallowing it back down.

He hadn’t intended for this to happen; he just… really hated the way Shen Xingyu used that tone to deceive him.

“Shengsheng, did it burn you?!”

Ignoring the pain in his own hand, Shen Xingyu hurriedly reached out to check on Liang Sheng. In the next second, however, Liang Sheng slapped him hard across the face. The crisp sound echoed through the room.

Shen Xingyu froze, looking at his little wife’s trembling hand and his expression—one that was caught between hatred and a desire to cry. His heart softened instantly.

“Does your hand… hurt?”

He reached out to touch him, only to be shoved away again.

“Don’t touch me!”

Liang Sheng scrambled away from him, losing the courage he had just shown when he delivered that slap. He pursed his lips tightly, tears rolling in his eyes, but he ultimately held them back, glaring at the wicked man with a pitiful expression.

He couldn’t cry! He couldn’t show a weak side in front of this demon! If he did, he would be manipulated again!

However, amidst his anger, he suddenly noticed that Shen Xingyu had lost a lot of weight. He hadn’t used hairspray, and several strands of hair hung limply over his forehead. Around his sunken eyes were heavy dark circles.

With his attention diverted, the frequency of Liang Sheng’s sobs gradually decreased. He was astonished—was this still the Shen Xingyu he knew? After all, the man cared deeply about his appearance. Every time Liang Sheng saw him, he was meticulously dressed and dignified; he had never seen him looking so disheveled.

So, what had happened during the days he was unconscious?

But then again, what did that have to do with him?

He had long since decided to stop caring about this man.

“It’s fine. I’ll clean it up and have another bowl made in a bit.”

Shen Xingyu brushed off the awkwardness of being slapped as if nothing had happened. On the contrary, that slap had actually struck a chord in his heart; he felt a secret joy, thinking that if Liang Sheng could bring himself to hit him, it meant he still cared.

He pulled out a few tissues to wipe the soup from his hand and clothes, then his tall, imposing figure crouched down. Bit by bit, he gathered the porridge from the floor into the tissues and threw it into the trash.

Watching him clean up in silence made Liang Sheng feel even worse. Why didn’t he get angry?

In the past, if he had dared to slap him and spill porridge to burn him, he probably would have been thrown somewhere to suffer long ago. Why was he so calm now, acting as if nothing was wrong?

The more he acted this way, the more uneasy Liang Sheng felt.

He knew Shen Xingyu. Even if he didn’t show the slightest hint of displeasure on the surface, a violent storm was hidden in his heart. Liang Sheng feared he wouldn’t be let off easily.

“My clothes are dirty. I’m going to the bathroom to change.”

Shen Xingyu frowned, shaking his damp shirt. It was uncomfortably sticky against his skin.

Liang Sheng didn’t want to deal with him, so he hid under the covers to seek a bit of security.

Who knew if the man was going in there to plot some scheme to torture him! He had to find a way to leave quickly!

Inside the bathroom, Shen Xingyu took off his shirt and threw it aside. Standing before the mirror, he rolled his shoulders forcefully, then turned on the faucet to rinse the hand that had been burned.

He had an excellent physique—broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and the muscle lines on his chest were firm and smooth. It was originally this physical charm that had attracted Liang Sheng, making him love him willingly for so many years.

Having not looked in a mirror for days, Shen Xingyu only now realized that because he had been so worried about Liang Sheng, he hadn’t slept well for the past two nights. His dark circles were heavy, and a fair amount of stubble had grown on his jaw.

Was he facing Liang Sheng looking like this just now?!

No wonder the other hit him!

Was he disgusted by his current appearance?

Shen Xingyu raised a hand to his cheek. Seeing that he lacked even a trace of his usual spirit, he panicked. He bent over, splashing water forcefully over his face, then grabbed a razor to shave off the stubble.

He couldn’t let Shengsheng despise him and turn his affections elsewhere.

The sound of rushing water didn’t stop; Shen Xingyu wanted to take a proper shower to wash away his fatigue. Just as he was about to unbuckle his belt, a sudden muffled thud came from outside the bathroom—it sounded like something had fallen, and it wasn’t a small noise!

His heart skipped a beat. Forgetting to put on a shirt, he rushed out frantically. He saw Liang Sheng lying sideways on the floor in a distorted position; he had clearly fallen off the bed.

“Shengsheng!”

He hurried over and picked the man up. “Did you hit anything?! Does your foot hurt? What about your hands?”

The sudden weightlessness startled Liang Sheng, forcing him to wrap his arms around the man’s neck. Since Shen Xingyu wasn’t wearing a shirt, his robust chest was pressed tight against his body. Because he had just rinsed with water, he felt cold to the touch.

Liang Sheng’s face flushed instantly. He seemed to have felt this coldness on the island, but he couldn’t remember clearly.

Realizing the man wasn’t wearing a shirt while holding him, he immediately let go in disgust. His two fists pounded against the man’s chest in anger as he cried and made a scene: “You’re so annoying! Let go of me! I don’t want to be in the hospital anymore, I want to go out! Waaaahhh!

“Be good. You can’t leave the hospital yet. You can’t even walk steadily. The doctor said you need to stay for observation for a few days.”

Shen Xingyu explained patiently, carefully placing him back on the bed and pulling the messy covers over him.

“I’m fine now! I don’t need to be hospitalized!”

Liang Sheng sat up excitedly, throwing back the covers. His eyes were red, making Shen Xingyu feel a pang of heartache. He couldn’t help but pat his head: “Listen to me. Lie down properly and stop throwing a tantrum.”

“Who’s throwing a tantrum with you! I’m leaving!”

Liang Sheng wouldn’t listen to anything. If his legs hadn’t been so weak just now, he would have left this damn hospital room long ago!

The smell of disinfectant and medicine made him feel miserable!

“Alright, if you keep this up, I’ll tie you up.”

Feeling helpless, Shen Xingyu raised his hand to press him back down.

Without thinking, Liang Sheng grabbed the back of the hand that had been burned and bit down hard!

Between the burning pain and the sharp biting pain, an ordinary person would find it hard to endure, but Shen Xingyu held it in without making a sound.

He looked at the little cat beneath him who had flared up and started biting. In a daze, he seemed to see that brave and stubborn youth again, and his gaze unconsciously softened. “If doing this makes you feel better, then keep biting.”

“Mmm… hng…”

Liang Sheng closed his eyes and bit even harder.

Don’t think he can be moved by this!

“Why didn’t you tell me you had stomach cancer?”

The man above him asked suddenly. His voice was deep, and one could hear the suppressed sorrow within. Liang Sheng froze, frantically pushing the man’s hand away and not daring to look at him.

“Wha—what nonsense are you talking about? Who’s sick!”

The back of his hand had been bitten until it bled. Shen Xingyu carefully tucked it behind his back, his fingers gently tracing the row of tooth marks as if cherishing the slight lingering warmth from that person. His eyes, however, remained fixed on the guilty-looking Liang Sheng. “Don’t lie to me. The doctor already told me everything.”

“Since the doctor already told you, why are you asking me…”

Liang Sheng lowered his head petulantly.

Seeing how he completely disregarded his own feelings, Shen Xingyu suddenly grew angry. He cupped the man’s face with both hands, lifting it so that he was forced to look up at him. He questioned him with intense emotion:

“How could you hide such a major thing from me?! Exactly when did you find out you were sick? I am your husband. Do I really have no right to know about my own wife’s health?”

His palms grew hot, and having them pressed against his skin was very uncomfortable. Liang Sheng’s small face was buried in the man’s large hands, and he couldn’t break free no matter how he tried. Forced to look up, he simply threw caution to the wind and admitted:

“Yes, you have no right.”

“Shengsheng…”

Shen Xingyu hadn’t expected him to actually use such a heartbreaking answer to provoke him. He was dazed for a moment.

“Why should I tell you? Is it useful? You’d only think I’m being melodramatic! You even humiliated me in front of Ran-ge! On the day of the diagnosis, during those three hours, you have no idea how I got through it…”

The more Liang Sheng spoke, the more aggrieved he became. Just thinking about the day he found out he had a terminal illness—not only did he receive no comfort, but he also had to endure his husband’s bullying—his suppressed tears instantly fell like broken pearls.

“So, you have absolutely no right to stand here and interrogate me…”

He sobbed uncontrollably, his mouth pressed tight. Although his eyes were blurred with tears and he couldn’t see the man’s current expression, it must be one of anger! It would be best if the man threw him away in a fit of rage!

Shen Xingyu didn’t get angry. Instead, he lowered his eyes in disappointment. “So… Xie Zhengran knew even earlier than I did?”

“So what! You’re the one who doesn’t care about me!”

Liang Sheng argued back while wiping his eyes. His tears flowed into his mouth, tasting so salty and bitter that it was hard to swallow.

“It’s okay, it doesn’t matter. It’s not too late now. We can still treat it. If you behave and listen to me, you’ll get better.”

Shen Xingyu forced a smile and immediately changed his attitude, sitting on the bed to embrace his struggling little wife.

“I won’t get better! I don’t want treatment! Just let me die like this! Instead of living the rest of my life through endless surgeries and chemotherapy, I’d rather live out my final days with dignity!”

Liang Sheng pushed against him with all his might. He hated this feeling of being trapped, and he hated hospitals even more!

“No, I don’t agree! You aren’t allowed to die! And you definitely aren’t allowed to leave me! You aren’t allowed to say those things ever again!”

Shen Xingyu’s eyes turned red with anxiety. He held him even tighter, his pale, thin lips pressing against his wife’s forehead.

“Heh, what right do you have to disagree? Once we get a divorce, we’ll have nothing to do with each other. Whatever happens to me will be none of your business.”

Liang Sheng gave a contemptuous laugh.

His heart had long since gone numb.

“Shengsheng, I don’t want to divorce you.”

Shen Xingyu’s voice carried a hint of a sob. He began to kiss Liang Sheng’s face bit by bit, moving from his eyes to the bridge of his nose.

“Why must you keep pushing me like this? Isn’t a divorce the result you’ve always wanted? Once we’re divorced, no one will be in your way when you marry Su Nian!”
