Chapter 26: The Marshal Is Angry
It was Nan Yu’s first time seeing Yu Lanfeng with such a solemn, even somewhat terrifying, expression. Combined with his guilty conscience, he didn’t quite dare to look at him and averted his gaze.
Yu Lanfeng’s attention was currently on that clump of soil, so he didn’t notice his anomaly for the time being. Furthermore, Nan Yu quickly adjusted his state and soon returned to his normal self. After all, as someone who had lived through a previous life, he could naturally adjust his state in a short amount of time.
Yu Lanfeng said, “The two of you, come to the command center immediately. I want to see you in a moment. Bring that robot as well. I will check the surveillance; the culprit behind this must be caught”.
He hadn’t expected that after only leaving for a short time to go to the Capital Star, someone here would have the audacity to do such a thing in secret.
The captain and Nan Yu were both a bit apprehensive as they went to the command center. The captain fluently explained everything that had happened, but since some things only Nan Yu knew, Yu Lanfeng questioned him directly.
“It was An Mi who took you there?”
Nan Yu nodded. Since this could be seen on the surveillance anyway, his answer was very smooth and truthful; there was no need to lie.
Yu Lanfeng asked, “And you only opened the door after An Mi had left, correct?”
This was what the surveillance showed, and he was just confirming it.
Nan Yu replied, “Correct. After Captain An Mi left, I scanned my optical computer to open the door, and then I saw it was thick with dust. There was dust all over the floor. I didn’t even walk in; I just looked at the door for a while”.
“After that, I wanted to go to the ward to find someone to talk about this, but then I thought it wasn’t right, so I recorded a video. I even locked the door when I left, never expecting there was a portable cleaning robot hidden inside”.
“Very well. Now, let me look into this”.
This matter really was a major affair. For this, Yu Lanfeng pushed back all other matters for a period of time; regardless, this had to be solved first.
But as he traced back through the surveillance, it became stranger the further he looked. At first glance, there seemed to be no problem: the cleaning robot went in to clean at its fixed time every day, and no one else entered at all during the interval.
Either this was a huge misunderstanding, or someone had tampered with the surveillance.
“Liu Cheng, you are very good at data recovery, aren’t you?”
Liu Cheng nodded. Nan Yu looked at the captain beside him; he hadn’t expected to only learn his name now after knowing him for so long. But Liu Cheng…
He didn’t know if it was the Liu Cheng he knew of, but it didn’t matter; whether it was or not, his future was bound to be excellent.
Nan Yu saw Liu Cheng walk over and sit down, quickly starting to analyze the surveillance data. Eventually, he really did find a breakthrough.
“Marshal, here it is. The surveillance for this period of time was tampered with. The method was quite ordinary, but it was done very well. If not for…”
He didn’t continue, because what he needed to do now was quickly recover the previous data. The process wasn’t important; the most important thing was finding the culprit.
Once they did, wouldn’t they know everything?
Liu Cheng’s speed was incredibly fast. Even Nan Yu, standing by and watching, was very impressed by his ability; he hadn’t expected this Liu Cheng to not only be strong but also proficient in data.
Look at that—that was the difference, that was the gap.
The more talent and potential someone had, the more they knew to work hard, while the more ordinary someone was, the more they felt they lacked talent and were unwilling to work hard, just like Bai Zhouyun.
Far away on the Capital Star, Bai Zhouyun suddenly sneezed. He rubbed his nose indifferently and continued chatting with Yun Feiyu beside him. As for the content of their chat…
Bai Zhouyun said, “Feiyu, Nan Yu seems to be angry. Do you know how I can coax him back?”
Yun Feiyu blinked. “This is very simple. He likes you so much; you just need to take the initiative to admit you were wrong. In the past, he would come to find you even when you didn’t admit you were wrong, so now that you are taking the initiative, he might not show it on his face, but he’ll surely be happy to death in his heart. So, what’s so hard about that?”
Yun Feiyu really thought so, because Nan Yu had really done that before, so not just Bai Zhouyun, but even Yun Feiyu, who was often with them, thought this was normal.
Bai Zhouyun also felt there was no need for him to please Nan Yu. It was just admitting a mistake; he was adaptable and could regain his footing later. He wasn’t a petty person.
“You really are the best; it’s so good to have you by my side”.
Yun Feiyu was also very satisfied. Nan Yu had disappeared to who-knows-where lately, which had given him an excellent opportunity. For some reason, Bai Zhouyun had distanced himself for a while before, but now he had been moved by his efforts and returned to normal.
Although he had pried both openly and secretly about what had happened before, Bai Zhouyun simply wouldn’t say. Since that was the case, he wouldn’t ask.
To Bai Zhouyun, he, Yun Feiyu, was perfect.
It was about two hours later that Liu Cheng recovered the surveillance footage that had been destroyed. The person who had tampered with it had taken surveillance from the same time period on a different day and used it to replace that segment, and the traces had been erased very professionally and perfectly. He had only found it by following a tiny discrepancy.
Now the recovered surveillance was presented before everyone. Nan Yu saw that in this otherwise very ordinary surveillance, a cleaning robot that shouldn’t have been there at this time suddenly appeared.
Because it was a cleaning robot, it easily entered the resting room and walked out one minute later. And the time shown on this surveillance was actually four hours ago, which meant…
One or two hours before An Mi took him there, someone had done this. But… they really didn’t know who had done it, because there were really a lot of cleaning robots responsible for the military base’s cleaning work.
If they couldn’t find the specific cleaning robot, they couldn’t find who had given it the command, and so they wouldn’t know who had done this.
For some reason, Nan Yu thought it was nothing, but it had actually blown up to this extent.
He felt very uncomfortable in his heart; perhaps it really was his arrival that had brought so much trouble. If he hadn’t come in his previous life, the mental power users here might have just been tired for a while…
But as soon as he arrived, there was so much trouble; he must have caused them a mess, right?
Yu Lanfeng suddenly reached out and tapped the surveillance screen, pausing it at a certain point. He pointed to a spot. “Enlarge this”.
Liu Cheng did so, and soon they could clearly see the information there: it was actually the ID number on the cleaning robot. Right, they had all forgotten that these robots had IDs.
It was likely because they were all so used to the existence of these identical cleaning robots—seeing them from time to time—that they had all forgotten about it.
“Immediately bring me the cleaning robot with this ID”.
As long as they could find that cleaning robot, they could check the surveillance stored in its chip. All cleaning robots had their own recording function; their movements twenty-four hours a day would be recorded, so they could surely find out who had given it the command.
But for some reason, Nan Yu always had a premonition of disaster.
Sure enough, after a while, the person who went to find the cleaning robot returned and said that the robot could not be found because it had already been destroyed.
