The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 83

Chapter 83: Clash

Several police officers filed in, all carrying the real deal. Seeing this, the bodyguards holding Lin Shiyu didn’t dare do anything more. Their grip loosened significantly, and Lin Shiyu immediately found an opportunity to break free.

Wen Yuhuai hadn’t expected this scene either, but he quickly regained his composure. Ignoring Fu Xingjian’s darkening expression, he untied the ropes behind Lin Shiyu.

Finally free, Lin Shiyu nearly stumbled as he pulled Wen Yuhuai behind him to protect him. Those eyes that were once full of affection when looking at Wen Yuhuai were now filled only with bone-chilling cold. His eyes, shot with red, glared at the man before them like blades.

“To dare act so recklessly in Haishi, you really are looking for death.”

Seeing him like this, Fu Xingjian actually laughed, his tone incredibly contemptuous. “With just you?”

The police had already surrounded them. “We received a report of someone breaking into a private residence and assaulting people. The impact of this incident is severe. Please come with us to the station to cooperate with the investigation.”

Knowing that the people living here were either rich or noble, the police were harsh with the bodyguards but remained much more polite toward this man whose status was clearly not simple.

The fresh bloodstains on Lin Shiyu’s wrists were a striking red, yet he didn’t give them a glance. His intimidating gaze fell directly on the police officers, his tone ruthless: “This group of people picked the lock and broke into my home in the early morning to detain and assault me. Both human and physical evidence are present. Is there still a need for an investigation?”

The police didn’t hesitate further and stepped forward to make the arrests. Fu Xingjian remained standing with one hand in his pocket, his tongue pressing against his cheek. He let out a reckless laugh: “Are you sure you want to arrest me?”

“Please cooperate and return to the station for investigation.”

Seeing the two sides in a stalemate again, Wen Yuhuai knew that even with the police here, they likely couldn’t do anything to him. He pulled on Lin Shiyu’s arm. “Leave this to the police. Let’s go first.”

Lin Shiyu was very obedient to him. He gave the police another cold look and directly brought up their chief. “Does Zhang Daishan know his subordinates are this useless? Unable to even ensure the safety of citizens… it seems your bureau is due for some fresh blood—”

With those words, he ignored the sudden change in the officers’ expressions and led Wen Yuhuai out the door.

Watching Wen Yuhuai being taken away before his eyes once more, Fu Xingjian’s expression darkened completely. He went to give chase but was blocked firmly by the police.

“Move!”

The officers didn’t budge. Instead, they dropped their previous timidness and moved in aggressively. Someone had already taken out handcuffs to cuff him.

Fu Xingjian didn’t spare the officers a glance. He turned and strode back into the living room, taking out his phone to start making calls.

However, after several calls, his expression didn’t improve; instead, it became worse.

He had underestimated Lin Shiyu. The man truly had some capability in Haishi. No wonder he dared to challenge him.

Outside the villa, Wen Yuhuai opened the passenger door and shoved Lin Shiyu inside. He then hurried to the driver’s seat. With a stomp on the accelerator, the car shot out like an arrow.

“Where to?” Wen Yuhuai knew Lin Shiyu couldn’t possibly have only this one residence in Haishi.

Lin Shiyu stared darkly at the road ahead and hoarsely uttered a location name.

Wen Yuhuai opened the navigation and then looked at him with concern. “Did he really not do anything to you? Should we go to the hospital first?”

Lin Shiyu let out a long breath. His tone softened significantly, carrying a hint of reassurance. “No need. Let’s go home first.”

While Wen Yuhuai drove, Lin Shiyu made one call after another. He no longer had his usual composure; the ruthlessness in his words was clear even through the phone. Every call had only one requirement: to put heavy pressure on the police station to keep the man detained and deal with him severely.

Wen Yuhuai listened the whole way and naturally picked up on some things. While watching the road, he couldn’t help but think to himself that Lin Shiyu’s development in Haishi was much better than he had imagined.

To be able to establish such a firm foothold and thrive in Haishi in such a short time… surely he hadn’t gotten involved in any grey industries.

A flash of insight struck Wen Yuhuai as he suddenly remembered something.

He recalled that Lin Shiyu’s mother, Shen Qingyu, seemed to be from Haishi. Back then, she had married into the Lin family in Beijing for love, even having a nasty falling out with her family. This was why the Shen family in Haishi had ignored Lin Shiyu for so many years.

The Shen family was no minor player in Haishi; their status was on par with the Lin family’s status in Beijing. For Lin Shiyu to have reached this point so quickly, he must have made peace with his maternal family and borrowed their influence.

But regardless of whose influence he used, to develop to this extent in such a short time meant that the male lead was still the male lead.

They ran into the morning rush hour and were stuck in traffic for a while. By the time they reached Lin Shiyu’s penthouse in the city center, it was after nine.

The two were silent as they took the elevator up. It wasn’t until the door opened that Lin Shiyu suddenly turned and hugged Wen Yuhuai.

Wen Yuhuai’s body stiffened reflexively. He instinctively wanted to push him away, but his raised hands only landed gently on Lin Shiyu’s shoulders to pat them. “Alright, it’s okay now.”

Lin Shiyu’s breathing was noticeably heavy, yet he still released him with a sense of propriety. The red capillaries in his eyes hadn’t faded, making him look somewhat frightening.

He seemed to know he looked scary right now. He closed his eyes and turned to look at the wide view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. “A-Yu, don’t worry. This is Haishi, not Beijing. No matter how much power he has there, it’s useless here. If he dares to act wild here, I’ll make sure he loses a layer of skin.”

No one knew how desperate he had felt during those hours he was tied up. To dare kidnap him so brazenly from his own home—he couldn’t imagine what would happen to Wen Yuhuai.

Just the thought of Yuhuai being harmed made his heart twist like a pretzel, ache after ache. The physical pain was not even a ten-thousandth of the heartache.

Fortunately, fortunately Fu Xingjian hadn’t been enough of a beast to do anything to A-Yu, only kidnapping him. Otherwise, Lin Shiyu would have fought him to the end, even if it meant losing his foothold in Haishi.

They hadn’t eaten since last night, and Lin Shiyu had barely slept. Fearing he wouldn’t be able to hold out, Wen Yuhuai ordered some food to be delivered and then urged him to rest after he had eaten.

“Alright, your eyes are bloodshot. Go sleep for a bit.”

The matter hadn’t been settled yet, so how could Lin Shiyu sleep? He sat by the window smoking to stay alert, making calls continuously. He wanted nothing more than to use all his connections to crush the hand Fu Xingjian had extended here.

However, the situation was not very optimistic.

The phone rang again and again. The replies were basically all the same: someone high up was protecting him, so he likely couldn’t be detained.
