The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 92

Chapter 92: Loss of Contact

The hangover soup in the clay pot had started bubbling. Lin Shiyu turned off the heat and brought out a bowl with a normal expression. “You drank a lot tonight; have some hangover soup. You’ll feel better when you wake up tomorrow morning.”

Wen Yuhuai didn’t refuse. After the soup cooled slightly, he drank it. He pinched the bridge of his nose to clear his head and slowly spoke about tonight’s events.

“I really couldn’t tell before, but Fu Xingjian is just too fucking wicked. He clearly knew I was setting a trap, yet he walked right into it. Then he actually asked if I was happy. Go to hell—”

Lin Shiyu sat beside him and listened quietly. “Did things go smoothly?”

Wen Yuhuai let out a deep breath, smoothing the frown between his brows. “You could say it was smooth, but also not. After sending Fu Xingjian in, I asked to see Gu Yanxiu. Let the two of them fight it out first.”

An almost imperceptible curve appeared at the corner of Lin Shiyu’s mouth. The gloom he had gathered earlier vanished in an instant because of those few casual words.

He knew that in Yuhuai’s heart, he was still different.

Yuhuai wouldn’t use him with such cold calculation.

“Alright. It’s late and you’ve had a busy day. Go to sleep.”

Wen Yuhuai’s eyelids lifted lazily. He didn’t move, feeling a surge of lethargy.

Lin Shiyu found it amusing. He stood up and offered a hand. “Can’t get up? Let me help you.”

Wen Yuhuai didn’t act coy. He grabbed the hand and used the leverage to stand. “Go to sleep. Save your energy; there will be more excitement in a few days.”

The New Year passed in the blink of an eye. Work had resumed at the resort in the small town. Wen Yuhuai received a call from there.

“Wen-ge, are you still coming back?”

The caller was He Yu. He had been so busy lately that Wen Yuhuai had almost forgotten him.

With that thought, he felt a bit guilty as he spoke. “Xiao Yu, is something wrong?”

He Yu gripped his phone, his lips turning white, but his voice remained perfectly normal. “Didn’t you say you’d be back after the New Year in Haishi? It’s been so long and you aren’t back; I was afraid something happened to you.”

Something had indeed happened, but there was no need to tell him. Wen Yuhuai weighed his words before speaking. “I probably won’t be able to go back there. I’ll transfer some more money to you in a bit. Please clear out my house. Throw the things away; the house can be sublet.”

He Yu’s already anxious face paled further. He let out a self-mocking smile. As expected, he’s not coming back.

Yet he still hadn’t given up. He asked one more time, “Is Wen-ge really not coming back? My school is about to start, and I happen to be going to Haishi for a trip before then. Can I come find you there?”

Wen Yuhuai didn’t agree immediately. The situation here was just too complicated; he didn’t want to drag an innocent person into it.

Receiving no response, He Yu’s racing heart finally went still. He forced a smile. “I understand, Wen-ge. I won’t disturb you. It’s a bit late, but I still want to say it.”

“Happy New Year.”

After all, He Yu was the only friend he had made there. Wen Yuhuai ultimately softened. He sighed and said, “When you come to Haishi, give me a shout. We’ll have a meal together.”

He Yu didn’t expect him to agree. He was dazed by the massive joy but immediately replied with a “Yes,” as if afraid Yuhuai would regret it.

Wen Yuhuai hung up and transferred some money, but He Yu immediately returned it.

[No need. Wen-ge originally had a long-term lease for a year. More than half the rent is unused. If anything, I should be the one transferring money to you.]

Wen Yuhuai stopped pushing the money and replied: [Then please tidy up my room. The things aren’t of much use; just throw them away.]

He Yu: [Okay.]

If they’re thrown away, then they’re mine.

Wen Yuhuai knew Fu Xingjian would come out sooner or later, but he didn’t expect it to be this fast.

Something had come up at the resort, and Lin Shiyu had gone there. He left in the morning, and the call came in the afternoon.

“Fu Xingjian has been bailed out. I’m coming back immediately. Be careful; I suspect he’s going to use force.”

Wen Yuhuai thought so too. Fu Xingjian had stayed in Haishi long enough; he wouldn’t return empty-handed.

He called Gu Yanxiu. Gu had likely received the news as well and said succinctly, “He’s on his way to your place now. I’ve sent cars to intercept him. They can hold him for a bit, but I don’t know for how long. Find a place to hide first.”

Wen Yuhuai’s eyelids jumped violently. He knew Fu Xingjian might go crazy once he got out, but he didn’t expect him to be this insane. Coming straight to the door—was he planning to abduct him in broad daylight?

All previous plans had become useless under this man’s near-mad behavior. And it happened while Lin Shiyu was away.

Who knows how long Fu Xingjian had been suppressing this.

Wen Yuhuai threw on an overcoat, put on a pair of sunglasses, grabbed his keys, and hurried out.

Right now, he really couldn’t afford a head-on collision.

Fu Xingjian’s journey since getting out hadn’t been peaceful. He was either being sideswiped or blocked on the road. For a journey of only a few kilometers, he had been forced to stop several times.

“President Fu, we…”

Fu Xingjian leaned against the back seat and pressed his temples, his tone flat. “Speed up. Break through.”

The other cars were ultimately afraid of death. Seeing his reckless, uncaring stance, they eventually didn’t dare to risk their lives to stop him.

Wen Yuhuai drove specifically toward crowded areas. His phone never stopped ringing—first Lin Shiyu, then Gu Yanxiu, then Song Xingmian.

Countless cars had been damaged along the way. Gu Yanxiu had even hired a motorcade to block the path, but they couldn’t stop him. Money was being spent like water, yet it only slowed his pace.

Wen Yuhuai knew they had tried their best. That madman Fu Xingjian just didn’t play by the rules, completely disrupting all their plans.

“A-Yu, don’t panic. Tell me what the situation is now.”

Wen Yuhuai looked in the rearview mirror and let out a deep breath. “There are several cars chasing me.”

He had tried to stick to crowded areas with many intersections, but he couldn’t shake them. Instead, he had almost been forced to a stop several times.

After several such repetitions, his blood was up. He stomped on the accelerator and headed for an open area. You want to drag race? Fine, let’s see if you can catch me.

Lin Shiyu was already on the highway. Calling for a special plane at this distance would be a waste of time; it was faster to drive.

But right now, his emotions were highly unstable, the veins on his forehead bulging. The hand holding his phone had veins straining against the skin.

Wen Yuhuai had suddenly lost contact.
