The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 97

Chapter 97: Engagement

The plane suddenly hit a light patch of turbulence. Wen Yuhuai’s eyelashes fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.

“Gege?”

Wen Yuhuai tilted his head to look. Song Xingmian was sitting beside him, also looking like he had just woken up. His eyes hadn’t even opened yet, but his lips were excessively red and glistening, as if he had just eaten something.

He glanced past him and looked out the window. The plane was cruising through the clouds, and it was already afternoon. The sea of clouds presented a magnificent, molten-gold sight under the sunlight.

“What time is it?”

Song Xingmian half-squinted his eyes to check the time, looking incredibly well-behaved. “It’s almost five o’clock”.

Wen Yuhuai pinched the bridge of his nose to clear his head. “Don’t sleep anymore. We’ll be arriving in half an hour”.

Song Xingmian gave a soft “Mm” and tilted his head, naturally leaning it against his shoulder. “Gege, where are you going next? Will you really not consider coming to Country M with me for a bit?”

No man would refuse such a bird-like, submissive posture. Wen Yuhuai let him lean there and lazily pulled out his phone to take a look. With the phone in flight mode, there naturally wasn’t much to see, and he quickly set it aside again. “Isn’t there still plenty of time? We’ll see”.

Not refusing meant there was still a chance. Song Xingmian’s eyes lit up. He grabbed one of his hands and rubbed it against his own cheek in an ambiguous manner. “Then where will I stay with Gege in Shenzhen?”

Wen Yuhuai took the opportunity to pinch the soft flesh of his cheek. “I’ll stay where you stay, is that alright?”

Song Xingmian immediately beamed, his eyes curving into crescents. “I’ve taken that seriously. Gege better not be teasing me”.

Wen Yuhuai wasn’t one to tease him about this. The Wen family had been in Shenzhen for a while; there were certainly villas, and villas never lacked spare rooms. He could stay in whichever one he wanted.

By the time the plane landed, it was already evening. Brilliant sunset clouds dyed half the sky red. Wen Yuhuai’s mood was unusually relaxed, and he imitated other travelers by taking a photo. The orange-red rays of light slanted across the cabin windows, reflecting delicate and magnificent spots of light.

“Let’s go”.

He turned off flight mode and posted the photo he had just taken to his Moments. Within half a minute of the post going up, a call came through.

“You’ve arrived?”

Wen Yuhuai held the phone and walked out with the flow of the crowd, responding lazily, “I’ve arrived”.

Lin Shiyu was standing before the floor-to-ceiling window of his office building, looking at the magnificent sky outside. “Is someone picking you up?”

Wen Yuhuai had already spotted his two bodyguards and the child they were leading, Wen Chi. His lips couldn’t help but hook upward. “Yes”.

When he had impulsively stayed behind in Jing City, it had been too sudden. His two bodyguards hadn’t decided whether to stay or leave, but Wen Chenglin had been too trusting of that “refined scumbag” Fu Xingjian. Thus, he had brought the bodyguards to Shenzhen. The objects of their protection had changed from Wen Yuhuai to Wen Chi, and they even worked part-time as drivers to take Wen Chi to and from school.

Lin Shiyu didn’t say anything more and hung up the phone. Hu Zhe and Jiang Qiao had also spotted him and were waving with the child in tow.

Wen Yuhuai walked over and bent down to pick up Wen Chi. “Have you been a good boy while I was away?”

Wen Chi pressed his slightly cool little face against Wen Yuhuai’s, his expression quite proud. “Of course. I’ve always been very well-behaved”.

Hu Zhe stepped forward and opened the rear car door. Wen Yuhuai carried the child inside, and Song Xingmian followed, sitting beside him.

“The Master and Madam are waiting for you at home”.

Wen Yuhuai was still teasing the child, asking as he played, “Did my brother come back for the New Year?”

Hu Zhe shook his head. “No”.

Wen Yuhuai gave a soft “Tsk” and poked Wen Chi’s nose, deliberately teasing him. “You’re finished. Your father doesn’t want you anymore”.

Wen Chi wasn’t fooled. He grabbed Wen Yuhuai’s finger to play with, saying in a childish voice, “That’s not true. Papa made Mama angry, and he went to chase after Mama”.

Wen Yuhuai once again grew curious about his brother and sister-in-law’s relationship. He tried to coax information out of the child without being obvious. “Why did Papa make Mama angry? Were you living with Mama before? Can you tell Uncle about how you lived before?”

What could a child like Wen Chi know? He said a bunch of jumbled things, and Wen Yuhuai couldn’t find a single key point, finally giving up in frustration.

Just then, Jiang Qiao pulled the car up in front of a two-story villa. “Young Master, we’ve arrived”.

Wen Yuhuai looked at Song Xingmian, who had been so bored he was picking at his cuticles. “Let’s go, get out of the car”.

Song Xingmian was incredibly well-behaved, following behind Wen Yuhuai like a little tail. He did whatever Wen Yuhuai told him to do.

Since he had notified them in advance, Jiang Jing knew Song Xingmian was coming. She had the housekeeper prepare several extra rooms and warmly had her lead Song Xingmian upstairs to choose one.

Song Xingmian was obedient and good-looking, and his smile particularly pleased elders. His acting-spoiled skills were unmatched. “Auntie, Gege said I’ll sleep wherever he sleeps. There’s no need to pick; I’ll just sleep in the same room as Gege”.

Jiang Jing had a certain understanding of her son. Knowing he didn’t like having people near him when he slept, she couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow and look silently at Wen Yuhuai.

Wen Yuhuai also instinctively looked at Song Xingmian. “When did I ever say that?”

Song Xingmian said with total seriousness, “Just now on the plane. Gege, did you forget?”

Wen Yuhuai hadn’t forgotten, and he knew what he was thinking. He couldn’t help but give a soft scoff and said, “Deliberately twisting the meaning of my words? You can forget about being in the same room as me. You can, however, sleep in the room next to mine”.

Song Xingmian immediately took the mile given. “Then I’ll sleep next to Gege”.

Wen Yuhuai found it somewhat amusing and waved him upstairs. “Alright, go up and rest first”.

His current level of tolerance toward men had truly improved a lot. In the past, if he knew a man liked him, he would—at the very least—distance himself from that person’s life. Now, he had actually brought one into his own home.

It was quite incredible when he thought about it.

Not dwelling on it any further, he knew his parents had things to ask him and walked toward the study.

What Wen Chenglin asked was inevitably about his relationship with those people in Jing City. Wen Yuhuai felt that things between them were already over and didn’t hide anything, simply saying lightly:

“Fu Xingjian and the others are gay, and they had certain ideas about me. For a while, they were indeed pestering me a bit excessively, which made me angry, so I said I was falling out with them. But everything has been made clear now. You should continue to associate with them as you usually would; it hasn’t reached the point where we’re truly enemies”.

He said it as if it were nothing, but Wen Chenglin and Jiang Jing were business veterans and sharp individuals. With just a bit of thought, they could guess what he had gone through, and their faces changed instantly.

“Why didn’t you tell us the truth before?”

Wen Yuhuai rested his cheek on his hand and looked at them with an innocent face. “It’s not some major event. It’s just my private emotional matters; there was no need to tell you like a child making a complaint”.

The furrow in Wen Chenglin’s brow didn’t relax. “No. Who knows if those punks have truly given up on you? Since you’re at the right age anyway, let’s just take this opportunity to get you engaged”.
