Chapter 59: What Reward Do You Want?
Liang Yuhang’s gaze landed on the fair shoulder.
He reached out and pulled the collar back up. “What are you thinking? ‘Symmetrical’?”
Mu Feng gave a light “tsk.” Sigh, sure enough, I should have taken advantage of being drunk last night to be even more reckless. Now he’s instantly turned back into the restrained Teacher Liang.
“Clothes are here!” 0717 pushed the door open. “Are you going to change directly here? It’s fine; you’re already engaged, what is there that can’t be seen?”
Hearing these words, Mu Feng reached out and began unbuttoning.
Liang Yuhang was truly done with this machine. He grabbed the clothes and handed them to Mu Feng, then turned to leave. “Change yourself. I’m going to do rounds.”
So cold. After the engagement, his fiancé was like this.
Mu Feng and 0717 stared at each other. “Is this right?”
“It’s not right, is it? Based on my recent novel-reading experience, you should still be unable to get up. The boss is ‘no good’.” 0717 began spreading rumors on the spot.
“No, no, no. We haven’t done it yet.” Mu Feng swore to defend Liang Yuhang’s reputation. “Teacher Liang is very ‘good.’ It’s me who’s no good.”
0717’s eyes widened. “Aren’t you an Omega? Can you still… the Alpha?”
Mu Feng closed his eyes. He couldn’t see the future of the eighth galaxy.
The machine had become this “yellow”—let it be destroyed.
He quickly finished changing his clothes, grabbed 0717, and headed downstairs. “Stop talking. Come to the lab with me; the quiz is coming up.”
However, because he had just gotten engaged the day before, his classmates found his appearance very novel and asked about everything.
Only Zhou Tiantian was very serious in her battle against the white mice. “This time, I’m very confident. It’s absolutely impossible for me to be dead last again.”
“Oh? Is that so? Learning hasn’t broken you yet?” Jiang Yu’an had nothing but mockery for her. “How about this: let’s make a bet. If you outscore me, I’ll call you ‘Daddy’ for a month.”
Zhou Tiantian gave a slight smile. “Sure. Did everyone hear that? I’m about to have an extra son this month.”
Mu Feng observed Zhou Tiantian’s technique and determined that she had only fallen behind because her progress had been delayed by her hospitalization. He reminded him, “Xiao Jiang, I suggest you take that back.”
“You actually think she can outscore me?” Jiang Yu’an was incredulous. “I’ve been dragged by my brother to cram for these past two days. Before going to your engagement banquet, I was still memorizing the operation manual.”
Mu Feng thought to himself: He can’t be helped.
He nodded. “Then good luck. I look forward to the result.”
Jiang Yu’an’s competitive spirit was ignited. “From today until the end of the test, I’m going to burn the midnight oil. There’s no way I’m giving up second-to-last place.”
“I’m afraid you’ll fall asleep after two seconds of looking at the books.” Zhou Tiantian said sharply, “After all, you have the sleep of a baby.”
Jiang Yu’an couldn’t be bothered to bicker with her further. “What about Mu-bao? Last time he luckily got seventh place because Liang Yuhang predicted the questions correctly. The practical part is different. You’ve had such low attendance lately; you’ll probably be bottom three with us this time.”
Mu Feng said, “I’m thinking about what rank I should take.”
“Wow. You guys are really putting on an act.” Jiang Yu’an was impressed. “Strong brothers.”
Mu Feng smiled and lowered his head to send a message to Liang Yuhang.
[M]: Teacher Liang, what rank do you think I should take this time? [Teacher Liang]: First. [M]: ? Such confidence in me. [Teacher Liang]: No need to pretend anymore.
These five words provided a steady sense of security. There was no need to pretend to be a fool anymore because even if the Mu family found out, he was now firmly tied to Liang Yuhang due to the engagement.
Mu Feng blinked slowly, then looked up to reply to Jiang Yu’an, “First place then.”
Jiang Yu’an patted his shoulder. “You have great self-awareness, Mu-bao. Dead last is your destiny.”
“First place from the top.” Mu Feng’s tone was calm.
Jiang Yu’an: ???
He suspected that this guy had “engaged” his brain away with Liang Yuhang; otherwise, how could he speak such nonsense?
Even Zhou Tiantian didn’t quite believe it. “It’s not that I want to discourage you, but you were seventh last time, just barely passing. Do you know that the first place last time was nearly a perfect score? There are quite a lot of top students here.”
“I know.” Mu Feng took a glance at that first-place holder on the other side of the lab. “A person must have dreams.”
Hearing these words, the other party looked up with a polite smile filled with sarcasm.
Zhou Tiantian said, “It’s a practical test. Even if Teacher Liang gives you the questions, the points that should be deducted will still be deducted. Stop dreaming.”
Mu Feng smiled, playing with the test tube in his hand. “A person must have dreams.”
For the next three days, the devilish quiz practically stripped a layer of skin off everyone.
Jiang Yu’an came out of the last exam hall with a dizzy head, clinging to Lu Zhuo and crying, “The last chemical reaction… you told me several times yesterday, but my stupid brain just couldn’t remember it at the critical moment.”
“It’s fine. I guessed as much.” Lu Zhuo was used to it. He raised his hand to pat the boy.
“When I finished the experiment, I saw Professor Zhang nodding to me. He must have been shocked by my superb operation.” Zhou Tiantian bragged, “Son, you’re finished.”
“Don’t call me names until the results are out.” Jiang Yu’an turned his head and saw Mu Feng running over to find Liang Yuhang. He gave two “tsks.” “Mu-bao left the exam hall thirty minutes early. He gave up in advance. And he still thinks he’ll take first place.”
Lu Zhuo glanced at him. “Stupid to death.”
Jiang Yu’an bared his fangs and claws to pinch him. “Don’t say that! Anyway, I’m not dead last, I’m not stupid.”
Lu Zhuo hummed. “You’re the smartest in the eighth galaxy.”
Zhou Tiantian reminded him kindly, “He’s being sarcastic.”
Jiang Yu’an ground his teeth and said through gritted teeth, “I have a brain; I can tell.”
Liang Yuhang saw Mu Feng coming over and his expression softened a bit. “How did the test go?”
“It went okay.” Mu Feng was very conservative in his words. “Although you didn’t highlight the key points like Brother Lu did, I managed to finish everything according to the requirements on my own.”
Liang Yuhang let out a laugh. “Blaming me for not being partial?”
“No. Who would dare blame you?” Mu Feng’s tone was full of resentment.
“It’s about believing in you.” Liang Yuhang said. “I’ve seen your experiments a few times before; the data was clear and the theory was perfect. There’s no problem.”
Mu Feng had been resentful for several days, but he was coaxed by a single sentence.
He raised his hand and rubbed his cheeks. “Is it that good? You’re talking nonsense again.”
“When have I ever lied?” Liang Yuhang looked at him. “If you take first place, what reward do you want?”
He had been busy with exams these past few days, and Mu Feng had basically not met him much. The engagement seemed like a dream; their mode of interaction was no different from before.
But Mu Feng still felt happy. “I don’t need a reward. I already have everything I want.”
Liang Yuhang raised an eyebrow slightly. “So easily satisfied.”
Mu Feng hummed. “Then let’s keep it for now. When I’ve thought it through, I’ll come to find you for it.”
Liang Yuhang originally wanted to say that the offer would expire, but he still made a concession. “Okay.”
“The real-time leaderboard is about to be released. Is it exciting?” Zhou Tiantian came over and hooked his arm around Mu Feng’s shoulder. “Liang Jingyi acted like a human this time; he sent me a lot of predicted questions on the first day, and they actually all came up.”
Mu Feng and Liang Yuhang exchanged a look.
Previously he had shown no interest, but now he was suddenly so invested in Zhou Tiantian—there was a problem.
“What else did he say to you?” Mu Feng asked.
“Nothing, he just said he was sorry for ignoring me before and wanted to take me to dinner after the exam. A big meal!” Zhou Tiantian said happily. “I’m going to have good food again.”
“Tiantian…” Mu Feng hesitated to speak. “I think you and Liang Jingyi should still…”
Liang Yuhang looked at him and lightly shook his head.
Mu Feng changed his words: “Eat well. Eat him into bankruptcy.”
Zhou Tiantian said with eyes curved in a smile, “Of course. If I don’t eat my fill of a free meal, my surname isn’t Tian.”
A group of people walked to the lobby to wait for the leaderboard. Mu Feng said softly, “Teacher Liang, why didn’t you let me remind him?”
“Zhou Tiantian’s family background isn’t good. If she acts too extreme and Liang Jingyi gives her ‘small shoes’ to wear, it won’t be a good thing for her.” Liang Yuhang said.
“But what if she gets bullied…?” Mu Feng was still a bit worried. “After all, that guy is full of bad ideas.”
Liang Yuhang knew that man’s style well. “At most, he’ll try to get on good terms with her to find out your secrets. Just be a bit careful in the dorm.”
Mu Feng gave an “oh,” sounding distracted. “I believe Tiantian won’t talk nonsense.”
Liang Yuhang didn’t reply. He just silently looked at the large screen.
The practical rankings for the second quiz were being displayed starting from the last person.
Dead last: Jiang Yu’an.
“What?” Jiang Yu’an sucked in a breath of cold air. “I already reviewed so seriously!!!!”
Lu Zhuo was very calm about this result. “As expected.”
Someone had been reading in his bathtub, and after a while, he started dozing off, almost soaking all the materials.
Zhou Tiantian shook the “dead-faced” Jiang Yu’an, mocking him frantically, “Son, come call me Daddy.”
“I don’t believe it!! There’s a shady deal!!!” Jiang Yu’an frowned. “Liang Jingyi really gave you the questions?”
“He predicted them correctly. Count it as him being capable.” Zhou Tiantian felt elated. “Aiya, today is a happy day—a happy fatherhood.”
Jiang Yu’an watched the names on the ranking pop up one by one. Over fifteen names had passed, yet the names of his two roommates were still nowhere to be seen.
He felt the situation was a bit serious. “Zhou Tiantian, isn’t your ‘behind-the-scenes operation’ a bit too outrageous?”
“Ah, I also didn’t expect to perform so well.” Zhou Tiantian swayed her head. “Perhaps this is the genius of a counterattack.”
Fifth place: Zhou Tiantian.
This ranking was enough to amaze all the top students. After all, the last person who went from dead last to a top rank—this dorm already had one.
“Holy shit. Is there some kind of metaphysics in your dorm?” someone nearby muttered. “Mu Feng’s result hasn’t come out yet.”
These words woke everyone up. Jiang Yu’an and Zhou Tiantian turned their heads in unison. “You couldn’t really have… taken…”
First place: Mu Feng.
The result displayed on the large screen was obvious. He had achieved a perfect score, surpassing the second place who had been deducted 0.5 points for an operational error.
Jiang Yu’an’s pupils were shocked. “I was actually backstabbed by two roommates at the same time? Is the world going crazy?”
“I only slept two hours every night and used the notes from the predicted questions, yet I didn’t outscore Mu Feng, who has been busy with his engagement recently?” Zhou Tiantian also found it inconceivable.
The corner of Liang Yuhang’s lips rose slightly. “As expected.”
Mu Feng stared at that line. The ranking that should have appeared in middle or high school had finally arrived belatedly.
He raised his eyes to look at the shocked crowd. It felt like a dream. He murmured to himself, “I really did it, Teacher Liang.”
There was no need to intentionally lower his score, no need to play the fool, and no need to be the most ordinary and average one in the Mu family.
Liang Yuhang looked at his side profile, which didn’t show any particular excitement, and only felt heartache for him.
If he had appeared a bit earlier, would Mu Feng have lived a smoother life?
“Do you want a hug?” Liang Yuhang felt that he needed one right now, even if people were coming and going and it was unseemly.
Receiving the command, Mu Feng didn’t hesitate to reach out and hug the other man, his voice muffled. “Please praise me again, Teacher Liang. I haven’t received praise for taking first place before.”
Facing everyone’s gazes, Liang Yuhang lightly patted his back. “The best little genius. Hard work.”
