Chapter 67: Then I’ll Just Snatch Him
“Would it kill you to lick your lips instead of spitting venom?” Lu Zhuo was speechless.
Liang Yuhang smirked. “Impotent rage.”
Lu Zhuo: “………..”
Why did he even bother poking the bear? He’d been shut down in just two sentences.
The journey was tedious. Most people were resting with their eyes closed, but Lu Zhuo’s communicator never stopped buzzing.
“Brother, who made this meal? It’s so gross.”
“Brother, are you asleep? I can’t sleep.”
“Brother, how much longer? Mu Bao is ignoring me to read data. I’m bored to death.”
Brother, brother, brother. Liang Yuhang’s head throbbed from hearing it. He turned his head and asked, “Is Jiang Yu’an always this annoying?”
“Annoying?” Lu Zhuo finished replying before saying, “He’s always been like this. I’m used to it.”
Liang Yuhang clicked his tongue. “Masochist.”
Lu Zhuo looked at the three stacks of reports Liang Yuhang had already finished and countered, “Your fiancé isn’t annoying at all. In fact, it feels like he doesn’t want to talk to you much. He hasn’t looked for you once the entire time.”
Liang Yuhang’s hand paused as he turned a page.
Mu Feng indeed didn’t show much dependence on him. They weren’t a real couple to begin with, and he was the one who had drawn the line early on.
But now, he felt that line was a bit too clear, so much so that the boy didn’t dare take a single step across it.
“Why should Mu Feng have to look for me?” Liang Yuhang asked.
“I think you actually want him to.” Lu Zhuo smiled. “Don’t you? This is very unlike your usual style, Colonel Liang.”
Liang Yuhang turned his head and looked at him. “And if I do?”
Lu Zhuo was a bit surprised, but he didn’t call him out. “Then what? In this fake engagement of yours, does Mu Feng have someone he likes?”
Liang Yuhang: “………”
That hit right where it hurt. He suspected this was retaliation.
Lu Zhuo, being an expert at reading expressions, chuckled. “So, what are you going to do?”
“Nothing special.” Liang Yuhang’s tone remained calm. “The days ahead are long. If all else fails, I’ll just snatch him.”
He actually wasn’t quite sure what he felt for Mu Feng.
But if he truly wanted him, what did it matter if the boy had someone he liked? He’d just treat that person as if they were dead.
“Be a decent human being,” Lu Zhuo reminded him. “Go easy on him. Mu Feng is still just a kid.”
The corners of Liang Yuhang’s lips curled slightly. “I haven’t done anything yet. What’s the rush?”
Alphas could sense the innate aura coming from one another’s bones. At this moment, Lu Zhuo only felt that this man was terrifying.
“Don’t go doing any ‘forced love’ stuff.” Out of consideration for his best friend Jiang Yu’an, he gave a friendly warning.
Liang Yuhang gave a hum of acknowledgment. “You’ve provided a good train of thought.”
Lu Zhuo: “………….You pervert.”
He pulled down his eye mask, too lazy to say another word to the man, and went straight to sleep.
Liang Yuhang finished reading all the materials and rested his eyes for a while until they finally arrived at the Sector.
After disembarking the aircraft, an officer came forward to greet them. “Thank you for your hard work, Officers. Resources are tight here in the war zone, and housing is scarce. You may need to share rooms in pairs.”
“No problem. Thank you for the hard work.” Liang Yuhang turned to Zhang Luyan. “Professor, please divide the students into groups.”
After a pause, he looked at Mu Feng. “The students are an odd number. There are three of you in your dorm; who’s going to be the odd one out?”
Zhou Tiantian muttered, “The two of them are close, so it’ll definitely be me. It’s fine, I accept it.”
Mu Feng’s heart softened instantly. “No, no, no. You stay with Xiao Jiang. You can help me keep an eye on him.”
“Then what about you?” Jiang Yu’an stalled for a second or two. “You aren’t going to sleep with Liang Yuhang, are you?”
His voice wasn’t loud, but people nearby heard him. The officer who picked them up laughed and said, “That’s what we were thinking. Colonel Liang just got engaged, so it helps us save a room.”
Mu Feng hesitated. Would everyone think Professor Liang was being too nepotistic? It wouldn’t look good.
“Unwilling?” Liang Yuhang spoke slowly. “I won’t force you.”
With so many eyes watching, Mu Feng didn’t want to leave him embarrassed. After a moment of internal conflict, he said, “No, I’m willing.”
Liang Yuhang reached out, took his suitcase, and turned toward the post-war base.
“Professor Liang, are you angry with me?” Mu Feng followed with large strides.
“Why do you say that?” Liang Yuhang’s tone was calm, without a ripple of emotion.
“Just a feeling.” Mu Feng observed his expression. “Didn’t you say before that you didn’t want to sleep with me? I’m just being obedient.”
Liang Yuhang gave him a fleeting glance. “Why weren’t you this obedient when you were doing your experiments?”
He understood now. This was a case of settling both old and new scores together.
Mu Feng sighed in his heart. No matter how he tried to coax him, it wouldn’t work.
After dropping off their luggage, they went to the base’s medical area. Liang Yuhang immediately threw himself into the emergency post-war relief work.
The students followed Professor Zhang to help with simple tasks like transferring the wounded and bandaging wounds.
“Are there not enough painkillers?” Mu Feng saw many soldiers gritting their teeth against the pain, their groans filling the air.
“Not enough. This was a surprise attack, and our stock of painkillers is far below what’s needed,” the person in charge said. “We need to re-apply for approval, and transportation will take another full day.”
Mu Feng glanced at the remaining reagents. “We still have Static Prism and Astral Neon. If injected at a 5:2 ratio, they have a very effective analgesic effect.”
“This…” The other party hesitated. “We wouldn’t dare operate like that.”
Zhang Luyan replied, “It’s theoretically feasible. The idea Mu Feng proposed is very good.”
“But someone needs to take responsibility in case of an accident…” The other party was very cautious. “After all, it’s not a standard procedure.”
Zhang Luyan pressed his communicator to contact Liang Yuhang, explaining the situation in a few words. “Can you take responsibility for this?”
Mu Feng hadn’t expected the matter to end up on Liang Yuhang’s shoulders. He felt a bit nervous. “Maybe we should contact the transport again and rush them?”
“Do it. It’s fine.” Liang Yuhang made a crisp and decisive decision.
With the Colonel’s order, the nurses took turns injecting the mixture according to the standard and began observation.
Mu Feng was so nervous his palms were sweating. He was the one who made the suggestion, and Liang Yuhang became the responsible party. If something went wrong, so many lives…
Did he really trust him that much? Was it too reckless?
“Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.” Zhang Luyan saw his nervous face. “Your thinking is very flexible. You’re very suited for pharmaceutical research.”
Mu Feng’s lips moved. “You were still too impulsive. We should have waited for the transport.”
“Then they would have all died from the pain.” Zhang Luyan lectured him. “Every second counts on the battlefield. Sometimes, extreme measures are necessary. Of course, we don’t advocate for acting on one’s own authority, but Liang Yuhang felt it was fine. He has his own judgment and will take responsibility if an accident occurs.”
During the long observation period, Liang Yuhang had already finished two surgeries.
He took off his surgical gown and walked out, asking his assistant, “Where are those students?”
“Most of them went back to rest after finishing their work.” The assistant paused. “Mu Feng is still in the emergency department.”
“What time is it? Did no one tell him he doesn’t need to keep waiting?” Liang Yuhang frowned.
The assistant led him down the elevator. “He’s afraid of something going wrong, so he’s been on-site observing and recording. He won’t listen to anyone. He’s probably afraid of causing trouble for you.”
Liang Yuhang gave a very soft click of his tongue.
He strode into the emergency area and saw Mu Feng still half-squatting by a bed, asking a patient in a low voice, “How are you feeling now? Is your breathing smooth?”
“Colonel Liang.” Seeing him enter, the military doctor on duty saluted and praised, “Does Mu Feng plan to enter the military later? This kid is really something.”
Liang Yuhang smiled. “Are you trying to poach from me?”
“I wouldn’t dare. I just think he’s a good prospect—clever, responsible, and serious.” The military doctor said, “You should train him well.”
Liang Yuhang tilted his chin. “Say those words again in front of Mu Feng.”
Military doctor: ???
Was this some kind of public embarrassment play for the couple? Although he didn’t understand why, he followed the instructions and repeated his praise.
Mu Feng looked up with a blank face, not knowing why he was suddenly being praised. He felt a bit embarrassed. “I’m not that impressive. Thank you, Teacher.”
“Did you hear that?” Liang Yuhang spoke up. “He praised you for being clever and responsible. You didn’t believe me when I praised you, but now that someone else has, do you believe it?”
Only then did Mu Feng realize that Liang Yuhang was using someone else’s mouth to affirm him.
He stood up, his legs a bit numb from squatting for so long.
Liang Yuhang reached out to support him and insisted, “Do you believe it now?”
“I believe it, I believe it.” Mu Feng lowered his head and whispered, “There are people watching. Stop teasing me.”
The military doctor nearby wore a look of “shipping” them. “Alright, we have doctors on duty watching here. If anything happens, we’ll notify you. You can go back now.”
Mu Feng nodded. “Thank you for your hard work.”
Liang Yuhang walked side-by-side with him out of the room. It wasn’t until they reached the housing area that he spoke. “You stayed there for over ten hours. What were you afraid of?”
“Afraid of making you take the blame.” Mu Feng’s expression was very serious. “I can’t let my actions tarnish your record.”
Liang Yuhang paused and looked at him thoughtfully.
Mu Feng stared at him without blinking. “Did I say something wrong?”
“No.” Liang Yuhang stared into those eyes—sincere and pure, filled only with concern for his career.
Yet he only noticed the small mole under the boy’s eye, which made him look incredibly piteous.
Liang Yuhang thought it, and he did it.
He reached out, his thumb brushing against that mole. “Don’t look at me like that. It makes me want to do bad things.”
