Are You Kidding Me! After Three Years as a Stand-in, You Say I’m the White Moonlight? Chapter 28

Chapter 28: I’ll Likely Be Back Tonight

The air around them suddenly grew still.

Only the occasional hum of the robot’s programming in the kitchen drifted into their ears. Inside the apartment, the heat from the floor heating was spread thick.

Chen Wei sat in Zhou Sijin’s lap, wearing only a thin layer of pajamas. He only needed to turn his head slightly to see Zhou Sijin’s exquisite features at close range.

If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, Chen Wei would have found it hard to believe that a superior bone structure and a perfect complexion could exist in one person.

He subconsciously swallowed, his fair Adam’s apple rolling as he shifted his body.

Exerting a slight force with the hands resting on Zhou Sijin’s shoulders, Chen Wei hooked his arms around the man’s neck, pulling him toward himself.

Their foreheads met.

Chen Wei’s breathing was ragged. No matter the time, Zhou Sijin’s face always managed to hit him with an intense impact.

Straddling Zhou Sijin, Chen Wei lowered his head. With eyelashes trembling incessantly, he pressed a kiss against the bridge of Zhou Sijin’s elegant nose. His lips drifted downward to the man’s mouth, then further to the sexy protrusion of his throat.

Zhou Sijin braced his hands against Chen Wei’s waist and back. While helping the man with leverage, he gave him the utmost indulgence and silent permission.

Suddenly, a mechanical voice rang out, breaking the intimate atmosphere between them.

Snapped back to reality, Chen Wei stopped his movements and slowed his breathing. He raised his hand to push Zhou Sijin away.

How could Zhou Sijin possibly agree? A nameless fire had been suppressed in his lower abdomen ever since Chen Wei had walked through the door. By this point, all reason and “gentlemanly” behavior had been tossed to the wind.

Ignoring the robot that was awaiting its next command, Zhou Sijin used his palms to lift Chen Wei from behind. Holding him, he stood up from the sofa with agile movements. Without giving Chen Wei a chance to react, he strode toward the bedroom with great purpose.

Early the next morning, before the sky was even light, Zhou Sijin was called out by a phone call.

At that time, Chen Wei was still asleep in bed. Sensing movement in the room, he sat up in a daze, eyes half-open. Through the dim light of the bedroom’s sensor lamp, he saw the fully dressed Zhou Sijin.

As Chen Wei moved, the blanket slipped to his waist, leaving his upper body—covered in messy marks—exposed to the open air.

Zhou Sijin turned at the sound, and this was the sight that met his eyes. After a second of being stunned on the spot, he walked over.

Leaning down to press a kiss to Chen Wei’s forehead, Zhou Sijin asked:

“Why aren’t you sleeping?”

Ignoring the question, Chen Wei merely looked up at him and asked casually:

“Where are you going?”

Zhou Sijin didn’t want Chen Wei to know too much about the Zhou family affairs, so he simply held the man’s shoulders and pressed him back down. His large palm caught the blanket that had slipped to the man’s waist and gently pulled it back up to cover him.

Still avoiding the question, Zhou Sijin changed the subject:

“I’ll likely be back tonight, barring any accidents”.

Actually, given their relationship, there was absolutely no need for Zhou Sijin to explain these things to Chen Wei. Back when they met at hotels, he had always left whenever he had business. Had he ever given a thought to the Chen Wei he’d ruthlessly left behind?

Perhaps it was the result of their time together over the past two days, but just now, as he turned around and saw Chen Wei before leaving, a place deep in his heart that he had always kept hidden like a secret suddenly grew soft.

“If I can’t make it back, I’ll message you in advance”.

With that, he pressed another kiss to Chen Wei’s cheek.

Today’s Zhou Sijin seemed exceptionally patient. Even his way of speaking and his tone were vastly different from the man in Chen Wei’s memory.

Although he hadn’t answered the question from start to finish, Chen Wei hadn’t asked it to pry into his private affairs in the first place.

After Zhou Sijin left, Chen Wei no longer felt like sleeping. Thinking of Han Chi and Xiao Wu at the hospital, he kicked off the blanket and rose unhurriedly, picking up his pajamas from the floor.

After a quick wash, he headed into the kitchen without even changing his clothes.

Opening the fridge, he took out the items he would need one by one. He added water to a pot and covered it with a lid, then turned to begin preparing the ingredients. When everything was ready, he looked up to find that the horizon was already turning white.

Turning the heat down to the lowest setting, Chen Wei stepped out of the kitchen. As he passed through the living room, his gaze inadvertently fell upon the robot Zhou Sijin had brought back.

With this new object suddenly in the house, Chen Wei still wasn’t quite used to it. After Zhou Sijin had carried him into the bedroom last night, the two hadn’t emerged again. Having received no further instructions, the robot had automatically entered sleep mode.

This was Chen Wei’s first time seeing such high-tech equipment. He stepped closer, instinctively raising his hand to feel the robot’s material.

Suddenly, the screen on the round head lit up, and a mechanical AI voice filled the room:

“Master, what are your orders?”

Even with his solid psychological resilience, Chen Wei was startled by the sudden voice.

“Ahem.” Chen Wei cleared his throat, his right hand coming to rest on the edge of the robot’s screen.

The smiley face on the display switched back to the program interface. Chen Wei lightly swiped his fingertip across the screen.

The page scrolled. A program named “Housekeeping” caught his eye.

Chen Wei clicked on it. What met his eyes was a long list of video files.

Chen Wei raised an eyebrow and double-clicked on one at random.

Before the video images even appeared, two familiar, slightly ragged breaths rang out. A second later, the image of him and Zhou Sijin kissing and lingering on the living room sofa appeared on the screen.

“!!!”

Chen Wei’s hand moved faster than his brain to close the video.

The faint flush that had initially only colored his ear-tips rapidly spread across his entire face at an indescribable speed.

Chen Wei closed his eyes and slowly steadied his emotions. When he opened them again, his gaze fell on a blinking red dot above the display screen.

Zhou Sijin hadn’t mentioned that this robot came with its own recording and playback function, had he? If Zhou Sijin hadn’t carried him into the bedroom last night, would this robot have recorded the entire process of their entanglement?

Chen Wei felt a headache coming on. Waking the screen again, he found the video from just now and clicked delete without hesitation.

After turning off the screen, Chen Wei walked back into the room. When he emerged again, he was holding a piece of white medical tape. He walked to the robot and placed the tape over the blinking red camera lens.

With that, this morning’s absurd farce finally came to an end.
