Chapter 25: The Matter Has Blown Up
He stopped mid-sentence as it suddenly occurred to him: An Mi had brought him here. Why was it An Mi again? What exactly was going on with him? Could this have been a mistake as well?
This portable cleaning robot being here was clearly planned.
Or was it that someone couldn’t stand An Mi but lacked the status to deal with him, and so wanted to use Nan Yu’s identity to move against him?
After all, Nan Yu was someone personally brought here by the Marshal, so his status was certainly fine. Furthermore, doing this could not only cause trouble for An Mi but also ruin Nan Yu’s reputation—a truly two-birds-with-one-stone plan.
“This matter is a bit complicated; it seems we really should inform the Marshal, but not right now.”
“Xiao Yu, you should come and stay in our ward for now. I’ll have some beds pushed together for them to sleep on and free up a bed for you. You absolutely must get some good rest now”.
Nan Yu was a bit stunned. “Eh? Is that alright? You’re all pati—”
The captain said, “We’re mostly better now; there’s only one round left, isn’t there?”
Nan Yu took a deep breath and then let out a long sigh. “I understand, thank you all. Then… I’ll shamelessly rest in the ward for now”.
“No problem, no problem!”
Nan Yu was a bit hesitant. “Although I’m very angry that someone is playing with me, this is ultimately a small matter. Do we really need to tell the Marshal?”
“He always seems so busy; why don’t we just forget it?”
Nan Yu’s earnest little look won everyone’s approval.
“Yeah, although I’m also angry that someone would do such a thing, would it really be a bit inappropriate to bother the Marshal over this?”
The captain let out a long sigh. “Haven’t you noticed yet?”
Nan Yu had followed them back to the ward by now. Everyone was very puzzled by the captain’s question; what had they noticed?
However, they didn’t dare to ask, but Nan Yu happened to say, “What is it?”
Everyone silently gave him a thumbs up in their hearts; well asked! They wanted to know too!
The captain’s eye twitched—don’t think he couldn’t tell—but facing Nan Yu, he still explained very conscientiously, “Your video is real, I can tell. And it’s fine if Nan Yu doesn’t know, since he just arrived, but do you all really not know? Have you forgotten what the dust, or rather the soil, here is like?”
At this, it suddenly dawned on everyone.
“Of course we know, Captain. Because on this planet, there are many Yineng beasts that can spread toxins in the soil, so until this wave of beasts is repelled, neither soil nor dust in the air is allowed to exist here, as they all carry a certain amount of toxin”.
“The only place in the base with clean soil is the vegetable and fruit cultivation room on the third basement floor. Normally, outside of that area, you wouldn’t be able to find enough dust in the entire military base to even get a hand dirty”.
This was the first time Nan Yu had heard of this.
“Wow… this is really the first time I’ve heard that… then won’t you be poisoned when you go out to fight the Yineng beasts?”
The captain replied, “We take detoxification potions before going out. They have a certain duration; we just take another one when the time is almost up”.
But normally, there was no need to take them in the base, because there was no toxic dust or soil there.
Nan Yu frowned slightly. “Then that means…”
“That means someone went to the third basement floor and had someone get some soil for them, then came here to foul the resting room meant for you, and then did this. As for who exactly this person is, we have no clue right now”.
Nan Yu thought for a moment and asked, “Isn’t that very simple? This resting room was either arranged for me in advance, and Captain An Mi just led me there, or it was him…”
“Of course, I’m just making a normal guess. Don’t think too badly of me, after all…”
It was only natural to think of An Mi, wasn’t it?
They all thought the same, but it was because An Mi would be too obvious a suspect that they had other doubts.
“In any case, no matter what, taking soil from the third basement floor is unacceptable. It might be casual elsewhere, but here, it is absolutely prohibited!”
The captain said he was going to find Marshal Yu, but Yu Lanfeng’s current whereabouts… well, he was surely in the command center on the top floor.
After all, that was common knowledge; he only came out to move around when absolutely necessary.
After some thought, the captain decided not to go directly to Yu Lanfeng, but instead called someone near the command center.
“What is it?”
He briefly explained the situation. The person on the other side was stunned. “What?! Someone actually dared to touch things from the third basement floor? That’s truly something. You’re right, this matter really should be reported to the Marshal. Also, have you checked that portable robot? How much soil is in it?”
He froze, because they hadn’t opened it to look yet, but considering the thickness of the dust in Nan Yu’s video, it likely wasn’t a small amount.
They opened the portable cleaning robot in front of the person on the call and found that the dust piled inside had formed a clump of soil roughly the size of two adult Yineng ability users’ fists combined.
Everyone gasped. Because of the existence of the special Yineng beasts here, the military base strictly prohibited such soil from appearing in areas where soldiers lived, trained, or recovered.
Even a clump of soil the size of a fingernail would lead to military punishment, yet what was here now was such a large amount of soil.
To be honest, if such a large amount of soil containing Yineng beast toxins appeared here, everyone in the ward would likely suffer. They might not be poisoned to death, but they would need to recover for ten days to half a month.
Most importantly, if Nan Yu hadn’t been helping them clear their mental pollution, and they had been infected by these toxins in their previous state, they would have lost at least half their lives, and might not have been able to be soldiers again in the future.
“What is going on?”
Nan Yu heard a somewhat familiar voice coming from the communication screen. Everyone turned and saw the figure behind the person on the screen.
It was Yu Lanfeng!
The person on the other side of the call stood up abruptly, straightening his posture and saluting. “Marshal!”
Yu Lanfeng’s gaze was fixed intensely on the clump of soil in Nan Yu’s area.
“What is going on?”
Nan Yu was a bit stunned and suddenly remembered that he had also brought a pot of Nianshen Cao, and there was soil in the flowerpot. However, because the plant was very small, the flowerpot was very small, and there was very little soil in it.
Altogether, it likely wasn’t even half the size of his fist, because he could hold that small flowerpot in one hand.
So… it should be fine, right?
Furthermore, only a tiny bit of the material in that pot was actually soil; the rest was nutritious minerals, nutrients that were better for the Nianshen Cao.
The soil really was just a tiny bit, probably only a fingernail’s worth if taken out.
He felt a bit guilty; that was absolutely clean soil from the Capital Star, so it should be fine, right?
