Are You Kidding Me! After Three Years as a Stand-in, You Say I’m the White Moonlight? Chapter 32

Chapter 32: That Damn TV Misled Me!

No one knew that Chen Wei had a sweet tooth except for himself.

In those years, whenever he encountered an unhappy day, he would run to a dessert shop, buy himself a cake, and sit there for the entire day.

Since becoming an actor, his diet had been strictly controlled by Han Chi, leaving him with few opportunities to enjoy an entire cake by himself like he did today.

The first time he tasted cake was on his fifth birthday.

His pregnant mother had secretly taken him to a bakery.

Standing outside the shop, various cakes were reflected in Chen Wei’s pupils through the transparent glass display window.

His mother pointed at the tallest white cake model in the shop and said to Chen Wei:

“Xiao Wei, look. This is the birthday cake children eat on their birthdays.”

That was the first time Chen Wei had heard the term “birthday cake.”

The sweet fragrance of the cake drifted out through the gaps in the storefront.

Chen Wei looked on, fascinated.

Even though he uncontrollably swallowed his saliva over and over again, he never dared to speak those words.

Suddenly, his body was hugged tightly from the side.

He heard his mother’s trembling voice, mixed with infinite apology and guilt, ringing in his ear:

“I’m sorry, Xiao Wei. It’s all Mom’s fault for being incompetent.”

Due to his family circumstances, Chen Wei’s mind was more mature than other children his age.

He naturally understood why his mother was apologizing.

To prevent her from escaping after tricking her back, they had trapped her in the house.

She had no source of income; she couldn’t even produce a single cent if she searched every pocket on her body.

But the fact that he couldn’t eat cake was never her fault.

At such a young age, Chen Wei didn’t know how to express his feelings or comfort people.

He could only raise his small hand and gently pat his mother’s shoulder. Imitating the way his teacher taught in class, he said:

“Mom, I love you.”

.

However, the most unexpected part was that they actually did eat cake that day.

Perhaps because they had stayed outside the window for too long, the kind shop owner brought out two pieces of cake and gave them to them.

After thanking the owner, he and his mother each took a piece of cake and turned to leave.

Yet, after only a few steps, his mother pulled him to a stop.

Under his mother’s guidance, he turned around.

Only then did Chen Wei realize that a beautiful boy, about the same age as him, was following them!

The boy’s gaze was fixed on the cake in his hand.

Chen Wei subconsciously hid his small hand holding the cake behind his back.

When he looked at the boy again, the hostility in his eyes was unconcealed.

Just as the atmosphere between the two was about to become tense, his mother suddenly squatted down and doted on him by patting his head.

“Baby.” His mother smiled and held the other piece of cake before his eyes:

“Birthday cake only becomes sweeter when shared with friends.”

Chen Wei blinked.

After a long while, encouraged by his mother’s gaze, he walked up to the boy.

Chen Wei cautiously handed the cake he was hiding behind his back to the boy.

“Please, eat.”

The boy first stared at him for a long time without moving, and then, following his gesture, his head lowered with a stiff expression.

He didn’t speak, nor did he take the item.

He just stared at the cake in his hand, his gaze indistinguishable between disdain and eccentricity.

His impoliteness hurt Chen Wei’s self-esteem a little.

Seeing that he still hadn’t reacted, Chen Wei withdrew the cake and intended to leave.

Suddenly, his wrist was grabbed.

His mother had walked to his side at some point, and with a happy and natural expression, she pulled his hand and held it together with the boy’s.

Chen Wei’s eyes widened in shock.

The other boy was the same.

A look of disbelief shifted back and forth between him and his mother.

However, his mother gave neither of them a chance to react.

She directly pulled their hands and found a nearby flower bed.

Forcibly pressing them down to sit on the edge of the flower bed, she then sat half-squatted before them with a beaming smile.

Then, rubbing each of their heads with one hand, she stared at them with an extremely gentle gaze without looking away until the two of them had eaten every bit of the cake in their hands.

Perhaps it was his first time seeing such a scene.

As soon as the cake was finished, the boy didn’t even say a word of greeting before running away as if escaping.

.

During the long walk down memory lane, Chen Wei had finished eating every bit of the sliced cake.

After wiping his mouth, Chen Wei took a small signed keychain from his pocket and placed it on the edge of the table.

Then, he rose and left as if nothing had happened.

When passing the clerk, he didn’t forget to nod at her again to express his apology.

The clerk watched Chen Wei leave, her heart filled with confusion.

It wasn’t until she was clearing the table and saw the keychain lying quietly on the tabletop, signed with the name “Chen Wei,” that she realized who she had just met!

Chen Wei!!!

Oh my god!!!

No wonder she didn’t recognize him!

His actual appearance and aura were way too different from how he looked on TV!

Clutching the keychain in her hand, the clerk had a momentary breakdown on the spot!!!

That damn TV misled me, ahhhhhh!!!!

.

Standing at the entrance of the Zijin International Hotel, Chen Wei took a deep breath.

Taking out the items he had prepared long ago, Chen Wei half-squatted down as if tidying his pant legs.

A small, exquisite black tracker slipped silently into his shoe.

Chen Wei never fought a battle he wasn’t prepared for.

It was true for sleeping with Zhou Sijin.

It was naturally true for coming to find Zhang Chen.

With a composed expression, he walked toward the hotel entrance.

He gave his name at the front desk.

Half a minute later, a group of bodyguards in black suits walked up and surrounded him.

One of them approached with a scanner.

Chen Wei sensibly held his arms out.

A beeping sound came from his pocket.

The bodyguard looked at him.

With a calm face, Chen Wei took his phone out of his pocket and handed it over.

Seeing that he was quite honest, the bodyguard didn’t make things difficult for him.

After taking his phone, he swept the scanner over his legs. Finding nothing unusual, he directly had his subordinates take him upstairs.

It was still Room 1007.

As if he were determined to reclaim the face he had lost, Zhang Chen didn’t even change rooms.

A bodyguard stepped forward and knocked on the door.

“Boss, the person is here.”

There was no response from inside.

The next second, the door lock opened with a click, leaving a gap.

Without waiting for the bodyguard to act, Chen Wei proactively pushed the door open.

He stepped inside.

The door was closed.

Chen Wei looked up.

The first thing that entered his sight was Jiang Chuan—naked, wearing a dog collar, and shivering as he knelt at Zhang Chen’s feet.

Chen Wei’s eyes darkened.
