Chapter 55: I Also Want His Life!
After the Star Beast skull was discovered, Shen Lin’s room was moved to Shen Papa’s residence.
For the past few days, the Shen family had forbidden anyone from approaching the small castle. Anyone caught loitering near it would be thrown into the Beast-blood Pool.
The sound of machinery was almost constant.
One after another, massive cargo ships entered the Shen estate.
Outsiders inquired curiously and received a unified reply:
“Didn’t the Fifth Elder of the Council return a million high-grade energy stones? The second lady thought the young master’s room was too cramped, so she’s planning to expand it and build another floating castle.”
Watching the massive ships fly in one by one, the onlookers were amazed.
“The Fifth Elder’s family is quite wealthy; they just gave away a million high-grade energy stones like that.”
“You make it sound like the Shen family was begging for scraps. Councilor Shen is very wealthy too, okay? She bought the last work of Master Raphael just like that. Being a councilor really is profitable.”
“Who wouldn’t want to be a councilor? Just wearing that silver robe and standing there makes people swarm you with Star Coins and gems.”
While the beastmen were envying the wealthy life of a councilor, a few people with ulterior motives quietly slipped away from the crowd.
But they didn’t realize their every move was being watched.
“What!”
“Say that again?!”
Vilikor’s eyes were bloodshot, his nostrils flared, and his face was grim as he bounced out of his chair.
“Excellency, I heard it very clearly. Councilor Shen wants to build a floating castle for the young master, and she’s using the energy stones you gave her to do it.”
Bobby was a Hummingbird; he was even smaller than a Hamster-man.
The Hummingbird beastman, Bobby, was an information broker.
Though small, his hearing was incredibly sharp—comparable to a listening device—which was why he made a living selling information.
Bobby had taken a big contract this time: to monitor every move of the Shen family. Any anomaly had to be reported to the client immediately.
Just as he took the contract, he heard that massive ships were entering and leaving the Shen estate. Judging by their slow speed, they were carrying something very heavy.
Bobby told the client everything he had heard.
Vilikor was about to explode with rage, but he had to suppress it to pay the Hummingbird for the information. After the butler led the man out, he could no longer control his temper and smashed every decoration in the room.
The butler stood by silently, waiting for Vilikor to calm down before gesturing for the servants to clean up.
The servants stepped forward, trembling.
Even when sharp fragments sliced their skin, they didn’t dare cry out.
Despite having domestic robots, Vilikor insisted that the servants clean up by hand.
Looking at the servants’ bloody wounds and smelling the metallic scent of blood in the air, the bloodshot veins in Vilikor’s eyes spread until his eyes were entirely red, looking like a beast that had lost its reason.
Beast markings appeared on his face as he shifted between his beast and human forms, letting out low growls from his throat.
The scent of blood grew stronger, and blades of wind condensed in the air, swirling around the servants and slicing open their skin.
Drip, drip!
The servants’ faces grew paler and paler.
Ten minutes later.
The door opened again, and two servants dragged a bloody body out.
The body’s neck hung limply, and blood spilled out as if it were free, leaving a glaring trail behind.
The servants standing in the hallway were pale but didn’t dare run. They shook as they took out tools to clean the floor.
A young maid whimpered, “How many has this been this month? I don’t want to die… wuu…”
An older maid hissed, “If you don’t want to die right now, shut up!”
The young maid finally remembered where she was, turned pale, and stopped crying.
Just as they finished talking, the butler walked out.
“You’ve all worked hard. Everyone’s bonus will be doubled this month!”
The servants trembled as they heard the butler’s emotionless voice and lowered their heads.
The hallway had just been cleaned when someone stepped on it again, leaving a faint footprint.
It was the butler.
The butler returned, looking uncharacteristically anxious.
A moment later, Vilikor left in a hurry.
The Vili family relied on the Fifth Elder to grow into a massive clan. They occupied the best district in District 5, building many Lynx-shaped structures.
From the sky, they looked like various lynxes holding up a floating city.
Ships moved back and forth along the spatial corridors like buzzing gnats.
A small figure walked through the buildings, bypassed several corridors, and passed through a light-screen. The scenery suddenly changed.
The moment Vilikor stepped in, he heard a commotion and his son’s piercing cries.
Vilikor’s heart clenched, and he hurried forward.
An object flew toward his face.
“Master, look out!”
The butler blocked it for him, and the sharp object struck his forehead, drawing red blood.
Vilikor didn’t care about the butler’s injury; his only concern was his son.
“Bao-bao, what is it? Why are you so angry?”
The people taking care of the “Little Fatty” were all covered in injuries, especially his mother. Her arms were covered in scratches, some deep enough to see the bone.
Her husband and son ignored her as if they were blind. She didn’t seem to care either; she just kept crying.
“Husband, what do we do? Our son says he can’t use his bloodline power anymore. What’s going to happen to him? He was supposed to be a Marshal in the future. Is he really a waste now?”
“I’m not a waste! I’m not!”
The Little Fatty struggled and threw things at the noblewoman.
“You’re a bad mommy! I don’t want you! I want Auntie Bai!”
“Son, what are you talking about? Who is Auntie Bai?!”
The woman’s voice grew shrill.
Vilikor, an adult, could barely hold the Little Fatty down. He barked impatiently, “Take the Madam away!”
The butler dragged the screaming woman away.
It took Vilikor and several healers together to pin the boy down.
Lying on the bed, unable to move, the Little Fatty began to sob.
“Daddy, I don’t want to be a little waste like that Shen kid. I don’t want to!”
“Bao-bao, it’s okay. Don’t worry, it’s just temporary. Daddy promises he’ll fix you.”
After closing the medical pod and ensuring his son was asleep, Vilikor asked grimly, “What exactly is wrong with his bloodline?”
“Master Vilikor, we found that the energy in the young master’s bloodline has vanished into thin air. No matter what we do, we cannot restart his bloodline power, and his bloodline concentration is thinning…”
Vilikor’s brow furrowed deeper. “What does that mean?”
The healer explained, “Simply put, his bloodline grade is dropping. It’s already fallen to B-grade. If we can’t find the cause, he might become a normal person entirely.”
“Impossible! That’s impossible! You must have misdiagnosed him! Go check again, hurry!”
The healer sighed and didn’t argue. He simply brought over the bloodline testing machine.
Seeing the large “B” on the screen, Vilikor nearly collapsed. Fortunately, the healer caught him.
“Master Vilikor, are you all right?”
“How is this possible… how could this be?”
Vilikor muttered to himself as he stumbled out of the room.
The butler was waiting at the door.
“Master, the Old Master just sent a message. He’s coming to see the young master.”
The wound on the butler’s forehead had been treated and was healing, leaving a striking scar.
Vilikor immediately panicked. “No, we can’t let my father come here. You… no, I’ll tell him myself.”
Vilikor turned to go to his study to call the old man, but he ran right into the Fifth Elder.
“What are you hiding from me? Look at you—not a bit of your older brother’s stability. If it weren’t for your talented son, I’d kick you to the border stars to eat sand!”
Vilikor lowered his head, hiding the anger in his eyes, and let his father scold him.
The Fifth Elder waved his hand in disgust. “I’ve scolded you for years; I’m tired of it. I’m going to see Bao-bao. He’s been through a lot this time. But this isn’t over—I’ll get revenge for him sooner or later!”
The Vili family had lost a lot of face this time—not only did they lose money, but they were mocked by the other clans for a long time.
The Fifth Elder had been wearing a long face every day.
It wasn’t that he cared about the million energy stones, but that his youngest son was useless and couldn’t even protect his own grandson.
The grandson was the most talented in the family. Once he grew up, he would be a great asset.
The Fifth Elder regretted letting his son raise the child. If he had known this would happen, he would have raised the boy himself.
“Fa-father, Bao-bao is asleep. How about I have him go see you another day?”
“He’s asleep? I’ll just take a look at him; I won’t wake him…” The Fifth Elder sensed something was wrong. He scrutinized his son, narrowing his eyes. “Are you hiding something from me?”
“No, of course not.”
Vilikor didn’t dare look his father in the eye.
The Fifth Elder stared at him until Vilikor broke into a cold sweat. Then, he pushed him aside and walked into the room.
Vilikor followed hurriedly.
Fortunately, his father didn’t notice anything wrong. He just stood by the medical pod for a while before leaving.
Vilikor breathed a massive sigh of relief.
Back in his study, he sat in his chair, and his reason finally returned.
He called for the butler.
“Tell Tali’er Yao to come see me.”
The butler went to fetch him.
A moment later, Tali’er Yao hurried in.
“Master Vilikor, you wanted to see me?”
“I told you to teach that little waste a lesson. Why hasn’t there been any news?”
Tali’er Yao forced a smile. “Master Vilikor, it’s not that I’m not doing it, but the Shen family is watching too closely. Every time my people show their heads, they are snatched away by the Shen family. I haven’t heard from them since. I’m afraid I’ve been targeted, so it’s not easy to move…”
“Don’t give me excuses. I bailed you out because you were tight-lipped and useful. If you don’t want to do it, there are plenty of others who will.”
“Master Vilikor, I promise I’ll handle it perfectly! Just wait for the good news!”
“This time, I don’t just want his hands. I also want his life!”
Vilikor pulled out a tube of pink medicine, placed it in Tali’er Yao’s hand, and patted his cheek with a smile.
“You know what to do, right?”
